Help ATS Recover With Your Contribution

Hi Guys,

I'm a longtime lurker on ATS and have only recently joined as a member. I'm here almost daily and love the articles and especially the debates and discussions. The many posts on here have been massively educational to me and helped me become much more aware of what is going on around me and indeed, around the world. I am thankful for the structure of the posts and the respectful manner in which they are discussed. Maybe one day, i'll have something worthwhile to discuss. But I did wonder about the names/titles next to the monetary donation amount?

Will this be like a Title the person receives?


ATS always seems to like Titles and borders and fancy rewards etc.
I doubt it is but I'm just checking anyway.

I don't think that's entirely accurate. There have been attempts at dictating and influencing content by potential advertisers, but those have been thwarted by The Overlord and Springer.

The attempts to keep the site family friendly have always been more about not triggering net nanny type filters and making sure everyone's contributions were available to the widest possible audience.

You know, there's an old man that walks every where he goes in this town. Even in the winter. He lives in a small trailer, and can no longer drive. He smells a little, and doesn't say much, but I give him a ride occasionally, and buy him breakfast now and then. I've never gotten a damn thing back for it, but the occasional thank you. Yet I still do it...

I always wondered why people could spew vile, racist, homophobic filth but when someone posts a thread about something sexual even something like the benefits of sex on health and well being or what have you, it was always 404'd.

Same with a few other topics.

Since we can't do as much as modify emoticons without a virtual prison riot occurring, you can rest assured we were all prepared for a level of rug soiling from a certain segment of people who can't seem to help it over this initiative.

Help if you can, move on otherwise. There's nothing to be gained but a sense of helping out the community.

If I may ask, how much is still needed to get back in the black?

oh, i'ma help....

see, i'm on an EXTREMELY limited, fixed income.....check should be in on friday, i'll be helping as much as i can after i pay my bills.
