I am sorry to hear of your financial difficulties. My husband and I are unable to contribute this year as we are jobless a bit.. lol.. but I am very happy to see others who can that are giving. Its definitely a site we all use and enjoy so very much and its pretty cool to be able to be here!

of every alternate version of the truth that has been covered on this forum for many years, that many people of various vested interests would do anything to shut down - it is a picture of a woman in a bikini that nearly achieved it.

Then to read the following:

That you're being forced to trawl the site and censor / filter a site that was founded upon freedom of information - even that which might be classified as secret, or above top secret even - due to an advertising company is just really sad.

But to invest requires a return. I'm actually one of the few that used to get paid. granted, it was different website(s) but that is where quality over comes quantity.

Right?! We refused to remove anything that didn't iolate our TAC, which is stricter than every ad network that has one that you can actually abide by. I mean "strategically covered nudity", as defined by whoever at Google is just beyond ludicrous...

I'm just figuring out the post-holiday situation and it looks pretty good for a change! Keep that donation menu bar up a little while longer. I'll do what I can.

What I think sucks is that I have had a thread deleted in the Rant forum due to a criticism of ATS about this very same matter and I have been told that this existing thread in this forum is the place to put any comment I have, so I do not expect to have it deleted but to have the issue addressed in a mature and adult way. I wonder if that will happen. So here goes.

I would love other people to fund my dreams. Unfortunately it does not often happen in life and you are very lucky if you can persuade others to do it.

In business, it is all about staying lean and mean and cutting costs where you can while still giving a good service. ATS has diversified a lot and maybe, just maybe, these diversifications (and the DOS attack) are the cause of the money black hole.

Businesses often take the wrong path away from their core direction and possibly this is what has happened here. Too many radio this and video that. ATS needs to do what every other business does which is evaluate if they are still relevant in the market, if they have lost direction, and if they are diversifying too much, spreading their resources too thinly.

That is why, when you borrow money from a bank, it requires a business plan and a profit projection cash flow forcast, and other things necessary to find out if you, the borrower, will be able to pay back the loan. I really wonder if most businesses which do not borrow money from a financial institution have the proper projections, business plan and documents in place to keep them on track and making a successful business.

They say a fool and his money are easily parted, so are we being fools donating to an organisation which is using the money we donate to 'play' in the marketplace without proper planning and controls. It was their choice to borrow money after the DOS attack but we still get asked to finance their playtime.

If ATS want to save money and become more financially stable, lets see them focus on their core business more which is the forum(perhaps) and less of the periperal activities such as radio, video etc.

Christmas time or not, ultimately I realise that we are all free to contribute or not - according to our own choice. Of course, the ATS controllers wont like me saying all this, but it is mostly true. Like it or not.

I think you are making a lot of assumptions there my friend. Your arguments have already been heard in this same thread before. We get it. But attempting to maintain a forum of this size, for so darn long, and make money at it, has got to be a pretty daunting task. Even if some of what you say has occurred, and let's say that some of the changes over the years did not work out in ATS's ultimate favor, the fact remains that the forum is still here. Through it all. I miss podcasts for instance, and wish they'd come back. But they can't because of bandwidth cost issues (last I remember). Part of the evolution of being on this forum for so long is learning to cope with the changes that are made, even when you voice an opposition to those changes.

It pretty much comes down to trust, qmantoo. They wouldn't be asking unless it was really necessary. And even then, they still give you a choice, with no hard feelings whatsoever if you can't contribute. What is the point of jabbing knives into their sides, and trying to make them feel bad about it? Huh? They already feel bad enough. Furthermore, what in the heck is ten bucks anyway? Think about it. Nothing.

Radio nor video is not the core of ATS. I have no involvement other than as a viewer of the video that is put out so I can't comment. And I enjoy it. *shrugs*

As for radio, it promotes threads of ATS only, which is a benefit, yes? People listen, and then read or participate in threads. There is no cost from ATS ( other than some set up costs 5 years ago) The administration and owners leave it to the members and staff to put their time into it. The owners kindly gave us a space to be heard (a forum) and kindly allow their licensed content to be used as discussion points on air, that promotes ATS "core business" content...get it?

You are talking about something you don't know about. What is the radio costs the TAN business? Nothing.

Not even time.

Other than members own time that we take to read member threads (which we enjoy and isn't even a task), put together discussion on it each week, or Semper or Nefs 5 minutes to put a thread up that promotes the ATS threads being discussed, encouraging more ATS thread page hits....there is no cost to "core" business.

Guess what? We enjoy it thoroughly, made some of my best mates there, love reading member thoughts and hearing news from the site.

I'm not all butt hurt that you think the TAN bosses spend hours and tons on money on us, I'm quite complimented we achieve that false perception when the truth is its just some people getting together on Skype ( a free service) and nattering about ATS. The cost of hosting a server belongs to individuals and not TAN.

You don't need to worry about ATS going broke over a radio show. Rant on something else, ummm something that is true and worthwhile perhaps?

It is not up to you to tell people to not podcast on ATS threads at their own time, when all that does is benefit the site by promoting awareness of page content and benefit the individual who enjoys expression through that medium.

Too many people are focused on destroying the ATS spirit of generosity and community, the Live crew certainly have been part of this spirit and you my dear are misguided in your understanding of us.

Someone stating their opinion, which they have just as much right to do as you have, is hardly being "focused on destroying theATS sprit of generosity and community". Your attack is out of line, in MY opinion - the poster gave constructive critisism, and I happen to agree with most of what he said.

Good for you guys having fun with wine and beer and radio, I've listened a couple of times to your parties but can't say it was interesting or entertaining enough for me to bother with it again.

Excuse you.

I pay ALL of the costs for the radio set up out of my own pocket, at a loss and have done so for the past two years nearly. Semper has also contributed to the running as well.

It is entirely seperate from ATS

I am not "butt hurt" at all, as you rather childishly put it, I simply stated my opinion. You seem to be much more upset than I am, and I still think you attacked more than you "corrected".

I also still think that ATS videos and radio is a waste of time and effort. Not what I come here for at all, and there are other media outlets that do these things so much better anyway. By all means, have fun with the radio parties, but I doubt that i am the only ATS member who hardly would have cared or even noticed if they went away.

I would prefer ATS did something about the horrific emoticons rather than produce videos and radio. Since I only come here to do the core forum thing, I mean.
