In Syria, the group hoisted some of its victims severed heads on poles. One of the latest videos of the savagery shows a Christian man forced to his knees, surrounded by masked militants, identified in the video as members of ISIS. They force the man at gunpoint to "convert" to Islam. Then, the group beheads him.

Why is it so important to you to have an 'exact' title for them? What difference does it make? And post after post after post of 'it's not ISIS".. OH Pleeze! Who gives a rat's derriere what their name is? They are 'them'. It's terrorists terrorizing which is the point. 'hostage takers', oh please. They've got up their little flag, and they are terrorizing innocent people, which is what sets them aside from legitimate innocent people. Terrorizing is terrorizing.
Their little title, whichever they have given themselves at this moment in time is a moot point. What matters is that the police handle this in a skilled way, and 'extract them' (if that's okay with you) while protecting those innocents inside.
I don't think it matters whether the flag is an ISIS one or not. The fact is that the flag seems to be Shahada flag, and that given the current situation, we can infer that the hostage-taker is of an extremist Muslim mindset, who is co-opting the flag and using it in a political statement of fear.
