Has anyone confirmed the contents of the "suspicious" package located in/near the Sydney Opera House?

I would be surprised to hear if ISIS is NOT involved. There's been speculation that the flag shown in the Lindt cafe was from Al Nusra, but this seems to have ISIS' handprints all over it.

In Syria, the group hoisted some of its victims severed heads on poles. One of the latest videos of the savagery shows a Christian man forced to his knees, surrounded by masked militants, identified in the video as members of ISIS. They force the man at gunpoint to "convert" to Islam. Then, the group beheads him.

Sorry if you think I've avoided your question ... No nothing makes it right . Absolutely nothing
There happy
Terrorists lack drones and smart bombs to do it though
And secondly just to make one thing clear regarding ISIS
It's a bloody western set up trained supplied and influenced
I recognise the finger print I've been involved in similar training and mentoring ops in the past operating from Jordan as it so happens reply to: Shamrock6

I was not involved with these things, but I was around people who were.. I know what you mean. Other people I was around were PsychOps, and Computer networking HoneyPot guys..

Making a force out of the people already in the country is quite the force multiplier.. It can also be a tool to distance blame. To attack countries without appearing to attack countries.

Isis looks like that to me, especially with their history of getting funding from the US.

I havn't seen any information linking this event in Australia to Isis as of yet. I may have missed it. Australia has been involved in heavy bombing of supposed Isis targets.

Listening to the Australian news, I'm noticing instead of the USA thing oh the terrorists attacked us now we need to be afraid so the terrorists don't win.. And while I tihnk Tony Abbot is dumb.. At least he just said that people should NOT change how they act. Do not become fearful. I'm used to governments taking advantage of fear at every opportunity.

I hope the hostages get out.

They seem to have been identified as a splinter group of ISIS. Allegidly reported by channel 7. Nut jobs none the less. Did anyone hear what they called them?

I hope they have blocked mobiles because in Mumbai the attackers were getting orders via phone from guys in Pakistan watching it unfold on TV and social media. These walls have ears!

We were trained not to let people use mobiles near a suspect package in case it set the device off too.

That was many years ago mind, not sure if the same cautions apply these days.

Why is it so important to you to have an 'exact' title for them? What difference does it make? And post after post after post of 'it's not ISIS".. OH Pleeze! Who gives a rat's derriere what their name is? They are 'them'. It's terrorists terrorizing which is the point. 'hostage takers', oh please. They've got up their little flag, and they are terrorizing innocent people, which is what sets them aside from legitimate innocent people. Terrorizing is terrorizing.

Their little title, whichever they have given themselves at this moment in time is a moot point. What matters is that the police handle this in a skilled way, and 'extract them' (if that's okay with you) while protecting those innocents inside.

I am serious...

And the few people entering this thread talking about alleged choppings as opposed to proven bullets is exactly the knee jerk reaction I was talking about.

There is no mental gymnastics from me my friend.

I've studied IS carefully, & I've seen the bull get thrown into the mix with the facts...

Starting from page 1 of this thread with people screaming "ISIS"...

Even though it's not ISIS.

Now, we should all get back on topic.

I don't very much care who they are (although it would be good to know), but i do care for the actions they are doing. I do care for the people who are being taken as hostages.

I don't know why you have chosen to single me out, when i agree that the gunman (or gunmen) are currently undertaking extreme actions which could be considered as terrorism.

I very much hope the people get out alive...any normal human would. This is happening in my country and i very much do not approve of my countrymen and women being threatened in such ways.

Besides, i suppose you didn't see this earlier comment of mine...

I don't think it matters whether the flag is an ISIS one or not. The fact is that the flag seems to be Shahada flag, and that given the current situation, we can infer that the hostage-taker is of an extremist Muslim mindset, who is co-opting the flag and using it in a political statement of fear.

Not true.

Closed off and evacuated as a precaution due to its landmark status.

Ya what difference does it really make who we call to be killed!!!

If people are going to us this event to justify going to war and killing people then we better be sure we get who really did this.

Ok after reading this entire thread I have one thing to add to the updates and discussion.

Yaho mail (where I first read about this situation) claimed that there were 10 employee's at work and at least 30 customers.

Now is there a significance in why all the hostages in the windows have their closed?

It tore me apart to see the beautiful little surfer boy at first visual, I felt like he was in pure prayer. Then I noticed all of them so far have their eyes closed.

Can we please keep to the topic at hand instead of turning this into a lot of bickering and off topic remarks.
