Russian tanks, artillery and air defense systems have poured into Ukraine over the past two days, NATO's top commander said Wednesday. U.S. Gen. Philip Breedlove expressed concern that the border between the former Soviet allies was now "completely wide open," allowing Moscow to potentially bolster rebels in eastern Ukraine who are skirmishing with government troops despite a cease-fire. "We have seen columns of Russian equipment, primarily Russian tanks, Russian artillery, Russian air defense systems and Russian combat troops entering into Ukraine," Breedlove told reporters in Bulgaria. His remarks were confirmed to NBC News by NATO. "What worries me the most," Breedlove said, was that the Russia-Ukraine border was "completely porous" and "completely wide-open."
"Forces, money, support, supplies, weapons are flowing back and forth across this border completely at will," Breedlove said. "That is not a good situation." Moscow has consistently denied that it is supporting Ukrainian rebels andd on Wednesday Russia's Defense Ministry promptly dismissed Breedlove's allegations. "We've already stopped taking note of the unfounded statements by NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander in Europe, Gen. Philip Breedlove, on Russian military columns he supposedly saw intrude the Ukrainian territory," Defense Ministry Spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov told the state-run news agency Itar-Tass.

Where's the proof? We all know that is what Russian apologists are going to say. I'm not even sure why NATO would bother making a statement without satellite imagery to back it up. Not that I have any doubts the Russians are helping the rebels. The proof is all over youtube and twitter.

The UN Security Council was set to hold an emergency session to discuss the Ukraine crisis later Wednesday, with representatives from the Organisation for Security and Cooperation (OSCE) set to give an update on the situation on the ground.
The OSCE, which is monitoring the ceasefire, warned Tuesday there was a “rising” risk of an escalation in the conflict, which has claimed more than 4000 lives since April, according to UN figures.
Its observers also reported seeing a convoy of 43 unmarked military trucks — five towing Howitzer heavy artillery pieces and another five towing multi-launch rocket systems — travelling into the rebel stronghold of Donetsk on Tuesday.
MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia denied accusations by NATO on Wednesday that it has sent tanks and troops to eastern Ukraine in the past few days.
NATO's top military commander Philip Breedlove said in Bulgaria the alliance had spotted military equipment arriving from Russia in regions of east Ukraine that are held by pro-Russian separatist rebels.
General-Major Igor Konashenkov, a Russian Defense Ministry official, dismissed the comments as anti-Russian "hot air" and said "there was and is no evidence" behind the NATO accusations.
"We have already stopped paying attention to unsubstantiated statements by NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Philip Breedlove, on Russian military convoys he 'observed' allegedly invading Ukraine," Konashenkov said.

No reports from within Ukraine but just claims from NATO?
But that's sufficient to take to the UN.
Convenient.
Peace
"Russian tanks, Russian artillery, Russian air defence systems and Russian combat troops" were sighted, US Gen Philip Breedlove said.
Russia's defence ministry denied that its troops were in eastern Ukraine to help pro-Russian separatists there.
However, the rebels have admitted being helped by "volunteers" from Russia.
The United Nations Security Council is convening emergency session later on Wednesday to discuss the reported sightings.
The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) has reported seeing unmarked convoys in the region in recent days.
Where's the proof?

If i remember correctly, you have been telling us this EXACT story since August...and as always, you've got no proof just reports from NATO. Why do you even bother? And do you ever get bored of posting anti-Russian threads, day after day since August?
General Breedlove also confirmed that Nato believes Russia is deploying nuclear-capable weapons to Crimea - a reference to reports that Russia is deploying short-range Iskander ballistic missiles there that could potentially be equipped with nuclear warheads.
