The little guy gets around. Here's an old photo of him doing some PR:

I think I see why the alien feet and hands were shown separate. I guess they didn't want to expose where they get attached!

I've never understood the emotional investment some people make in things like this. If there are aliens visiting us in space ships, one poorly done hoax does not change that. If there are no aliens visiting us in space ships, one hoax proves nothing. If you are desperate to shore up your belief, then can you afford to grab on to something like this early on, before any of the purported facts are checked? Seems like a foolish proposition to me. Once the story and the "evidence" have been dragged out into the daylight and found wanting, wouldn't it be better to cut your losses and look for something more credible? Shouting at anyone who disagrees with you or looking for ways to hold on to a slim hope that somehow the skeptics are wrong will only hurt your credibility. This case has nothing going for it. If not for Boyd Bushman's previous employment, no one with a lick of sense would pay any attention to it. Oh, it would still have its fans, but no sane ones.

Thankyou

You're welcome. You may want to go back to Google and search for "filetype:pdf Untangling the web". You may be interested in the resulting document. It's a bit outdated but in essence still usable.

I waited through the whole thread to be shown any similar doll. This is clearly very different but similar that still of course rules nothing out in my book..

Correct, the link shows the 2014 model, which is slightly different from the 1997 model. You can find a picture of the 1997 prop in another thread.

Occams razor applies: the simplest answer is mostly the correct one. Unreasonable doubt is useless: we don't send out our professors to investigate if the sun will rise in the East tomorrow either. The darned thing will with a probability far beyond reasonable doubt.

personally all the hating on the guy astounds me, I get the impression of a very kind and caring person just like his obit says. This nullifies the idea he wanted hero worship as many have suggested. So at this poingt I think there is nothing left to say.

Well, actually there is something I want off my chest: I object to the statement that people "hate" Boyd. I have seen no proof of it. I certainly do not hate this man.

But he had flaws. We all have. But we don't all go around pretending we're scientists - sorry, SENIOR scientists - oh sorry, SENIOR scientists with a top secret clearance - whom have "proof" for alien visitation. Even if he was sincere, Boyd should have realized what anybody with half a brain sees: the alien looks like a prop, the pictures like 1960 fakery - and as is they do not prove anyting.

Proper scientists are extra careful what to say to the general public. Even amongst their peers they are careful. In the scientific world reputations arrive on feet and depart on horseback. Scientists know this. Also, they know that the general public believes every word they say. They mostly have a huge sense of responsibilty and weigh their words very carefully. They will ask peers to check their work. They will provide proof. They will never use their credentials as a surrogate for proof. They will have a proper line of reasoning and refrain from rambling. They will have done a lot of proper research. They will have had an education in the fields they are experts in.

Now take Boyd. Oh, well, you got the picture, didn't yhou?

Now, in all other respects Boyd was probably a nice guy, a good father, a nice neighbour etc. etc. - but a lousy scientist.

Don't shoot the messenger.

It's beyond me to say if he wasn't a good scientist but it does beg the question. He has dozens of patents which is indicative of an excited and colorful mind. However LM didn't find much of his patented ideas useful or practical. He claims the knowledge of these beings and technology were relayed to him...now if this is true could they see an individual striving to make a name for himself that failed and was eager to be remembered? A man that poured thousands of man hours in patented projects that were never used and would eventually expire like him leaving no impact on the world? Is sad to think of it this way... individuals abusing a desperate man. Or maybe he is the source. A means of plausible deniability in a sense.

You forgot "patsy for a disinfo campaign to discredit the UFO/Alien topic". Boyd could have easily been setup just as Paul Bennewitz was by Air Force Disinfo Agent Richard Doty. Doty even admitted that they drove Paul to the edge mentally in the documentary "Mirage Men" which is now on Netflix.

Air Force UFO Disinfo

I still don't see anyone here, that posted photos of the doll/toy, providing a link to a website that sells these.

I really enjoyed the argument about the airbrushing being a bit different on the two rubber aliens. That was fun!

I know, right? It's not like anyone would make alternate versions of the same toy. Pffft! What would be the point of that?

Doh!!

Okay, be helpful and provide a link to where we can get this toy. It's a nice replica of the alien Boyd is showing in that picture.

You could be just as helpful by providing a link to where we can find the real alien on which this toy is allegedly based.

Sorry, any links to images inside Area 51 would be deleted.

I don't claim that Boyd's photo is of a living being or that it is not. What evidence do we have one way or the other right now. A supposed toy that matches it could point to the fact that Boyd was pranked or deliberately used to spread disinfo.

Mods or ATS, please invite the filmmaker of Boyd's final video to do an AMA here. Let's get more info.

ATS's owner already replied on page 50 calling it a "hoax", and suggested we let the man rest in peace, so I don't expect to see an AMA on this:

I think the point is that lots of props match and there is nothing about it that makes it seem like something other than a prop. I mean if there were an orifice or two or maybe some reproductive organs NOT on a prop or maybe some guts. Something.

yes. I don't think anyone disagrees. I don't think many think this was deliberately hoaxed by Bushman. But there really is no way to tell

What motivation would someone have to hoax Boyd. Either to create disinfo and muddy the waters, since they know he's already been public on the subject and want to discredit him for some of the info he released previously or someone pranking him. Both are plausible.

I wish Springer would elaborate on how he knows this is a hoax. I'm not as familiar with Boyd as he is apparently. Springer may shed some light and end discussions about Boyd's overall credibility.

How about we look for solid evidence one way or the other before we shovel this under the rug. It's likely that person could get better images of the photos from the family.

I asked Springer to invite the person that filmed Boyd for an AMA. Let's shed light on this, not shove it into the darkness.

you DO know our nearest neighbor is Alpha and Proxmia Centauri, which are 26 TRILLION miles from us? It takes 165,000 years to get there in conventional craft. The space between stars is HUGE.
I'd love it to be true they are here, but are they? I dunno

To discredit him in the eyes of the court and/or media? He did sue LM over his patents at one point. So, if you can discredit him in public, then it will lessen his credibility in any future court proceedings.

That is just one plausible motivation. It could be as simple as pranking an old man for laughs.

Bushman's claims have a lot more working against them than a rubber alien. Exposing the rubber alien is probably the most efficient way to dispatch this hoax, but there are so many problems with the rest of the story that it doesn't hold up to intelligent scrutiny in any way. It isn't just a hoax, but a lame one. I agree, we should let old Boyd rest in peace.

Over and out.
