It is not unsual for people to file lawsuits simply as a tool provide positive PR and as threat. You this often from people trying to make some money off pseudoscience and are getting bash by scienced based blogs, journal etc. Hoping the cost will make them back off. These seems to be one of those cases.

I'd say so too, the report is two months old and we'll see if anything comes of it. I suspect not.

How much have you invested in BLP?

Nothing.

BLP is not a publicly traded corporation.

To invest in BLP you have to be an accredited investor, which requires a million dollars in net worth.

Link please

You also get asked to provide references for the independent tests.

What I find more interesting is that they have never been sued for fraud by their investors.

If they were running a scam, they should have been sued by now.

Academia can scream and stop their feet that his process is impossible all day long, but it's not going to change the test results. Since 2000, they've accumulated a mountain of additional scientific data.

BLP will win their libel case. The Wiki editors can't cite a single incident of replication that failed to preform as claimed.

Go jump on Google's Wiki page and accuse them of fraud without proof. See how fast their legal team responds.

I think the bigger question is, have their investors sued them for fraud?

Since this hasn't happened, their investors must be satisfied with their progress to-date.

It takes a lot of money for research and development to pay off. The pharmaceutical industry spends 500 billion a year on R&D. BLP's funding is a pittance of that.

I'll just wait for the years to go by without any product being produced. How many years before you admit they have nothing? 5, 10, 15, 20 or will you go to your grave believing?

Yeah here is an amusing press release from BLP

Looks like

Cranbury, NJ (May 28, 2008)—BlackLight Power, Inc. today announced the successful testing of a new energy source. The company has successfully developed a prototype power system generating 50,000 watts of thermal power on demand. Incorporating existing industry knowledge in chemical and power engineering, BlackLight Power (BLP) is pursuing the immediate design and engineering of central power plants utilizing the BlackLight Process. BLP plans on developing pilot plants with architecture and engineering firms with anticipated delivery in approximately 12 to 18 months. The BLP process has been replicated and validated by independent scientists and has received interest from financial institutions and power utility plant operators around the world. BLP plans on licensing its technologies

Only missed it by 54+ months and counting!

Sweet.

BLP just released a new video demo of a potential use for their new SunCell technology:

www.blacklightpower.com...

They suggest using wind turbines powered by SunCells to blow moist ocean air over the desert coastal regions of the Earth. No more droughts.

Funny, from that 2000 article.....

He [Mills] also says he is preparing papers forsubmission to major scientific journals, andthat others have replicated his results and are also submitting to journals.

Did I miss the Nature cover article? The one that says "HEISENBERG WAS WRONG: Radical shake-up of quantum mechanics"
Or the all-expenses paid trip to a black-tie shindig in Stockholm?

A jury isn't going to be composed of people who think like you do. It's going to be composed of average people who have no bias towards the standard model one way or the other.

The jury will ask to see a working machine - I wonder what the excuse by BLP will be then when they are unable to produce one, despite their claims?
