Is anyone watching watching this press conference out of Missouri? They're literally talking about nothing, I've never heard more words used to come to no conclusion at all. These individuals in charge know that everything that happened from the police is illegal and are deflecting from the actual issue; which is the suppression of information and a tyrannical oppression of citizens taking part in a fundamental democratic act.

To quote him directly when asked about the police response and who was in charge of it:

"I'm not looking backwards, I'm looking forwards."

When asked about the withholding of information in opposition to Missouri state law:

"I don't want to get into a debate over what is a law"

Yep. My stomach was already hurting before I watched Cito's video. I can't even stand straight. Wretched. Absolutely wretched. Totally echo your thoughts here with one more thing to add. It is very apparent that there is something significantly wrong within the Ferguson Police Department and it needs a swift and thorough investigation. I also think the police chief should be canned along with much of the force.

John Lewis Calls On Obama To Declare Martial Law In Ferguson,

link

This tid bit got my attention.

“President Obama should use the authority of his office to declare martial law,” he continued. “Federalize the Missouri National Guard to protect people as they protest.”

What the absolute F...?! That is NOT what martial law is for

That's how they will play it from a PR perspective if they declare martial law. [Waves hand] You want the national guard in your town. [Waves hand] They will protect you peaceful protesters from the police. [Waves hand] These are not the droids you're looking for.

Except it won't be Obiwan waving his hand, it will be the new Emperor.

I saw on the ticker that there would a facilitation of peaceful protests tonight in order to demonstrate and broadcast that there will indeed be an allowance of protesting.

"It's a powder keg," Jackson said about the current situation, adding that officials are putting together a plan to help facilitate the protests in a peaceful manner.

Yeah, I agree with Ben Franklin on this: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

Absolutely spineless, gutless typical political cover your arse response by deflection and distraction.

I'm still waiting for that one riot officer to lay down his weapon, take off his helmet, stand between the police and the protestors and say:

"What are we doing? What is wrong with us, just look at what we've become!? We are all in this together, one nation! Let's figure this thing out together peacefully!"

...and then gesture for the protestors and officers to have a nice chat and hang out, maybe even throw a block party!

That officer will become a national hero.

If only someone had the testicular fortitude to do that...

a reply to: EyesOpenMouthShutNever thought of it that way. When it comes down to it, I know in my heart of hearts you are right. The govt. wouldn't give a shyte about any of us and whether any more shooting took place or not...they come first, their interests in the land, minerals, money, war profits and contracts and such...that is all that really matters.

However, the common folks should never be under estimated. Martial law might not go as smooth and easy as they would expect. Maybe those stupid tvs would actually shut off and folks watching Dancing With The idols or whatever would finally get sick and tired of it all. Martial Law would impose so many rules/regs and there are an awful lot of folks that don't like to follow the rules so much. When folks can't get their kids to the docs or hospital or make any kind of travel move or shop or whatever without begging or waiting, it would hit home big time. If things go as far as Martial Law, this country will have a bigger mess and more tragedies then one could ever imagine. Especially if gun confiscation started. Just like in that movie, Close Encounters, there is always somebody or in that case a bunch of somebodies who think they are immune and above it all. We, in this country are too used to our freedom to come and go as we please and shop and such...it might work for a while but then, after awhile, desperate people will start to do desperate things.

Aye, I agree 100%! But alas, nowadays ignorance is bliss.

It's like we've slowly been allowing liberty to die right before our eyes, and finally people are beginning to notice.

My personal fav.... (paraphrasing of course)... "I like to put gasoline into the engine of the firetruck, not on the fire it's responding to"...... huh? I've no idea what that even means much less how it was relavent to the question asked. What a bunch of stuff and nonsense.

Cavuto on FOX is now saying Obama called the Gov this morning and ripped him a new one. Plus the Ferguson police dept has been taken off the street for tonight, and the Mo HWY Patrol is taking over.

I'll say this, and real quick so as not to derail from ONE thing I think Nixon is actually doing right...and this is about as rare as Obama scoring a win, tho it does happen occasionally. Nixon himself has crossed lines and IMO, broken black letter law during his term in our State. More than one, and big ones. Specific ones. Also ones for another thread.....

I'll also agree he's 100% a political critter. No question. As sleazy as any who have held the office.

However...if he can get this dialed down with that forked tongue of his, and no one else gets hurt out there? I'll be very happy to give him credit for his part in accomplishing it. However that happens. Removing St Lou PD was no small thing, IMO. Bravo on step 1.

@@ Oh, just read the above for Fergie PD taking a little time-out for the evening. Hey....Politicians actually DOING something. I guess the good Governor looked at the statehouse walls and recalled what being the 'Show Me State' means. He is on this one...so far.

You nailed it.
I'm not a war monger nor do i care for violence very much but for the sake of the last shred of America that the people have, should this happen, i would hope that the people rise up against the slow tyranny we have been forced into for so many years. enough is enough

As I was saying in another thread.....

So are you all watching the press conference with the governor now? I am and I am switching back and forth from Fox to CNN ( I am in a hotel and those are my only options). What I am seeing is an excellent education in how the various "news" organizations are manipulating the viewers and directing the development of opinions about the crisis in Ferguson.

Both stations are showing the same news conference in near synchronization and both have split the screen so the conference is taking half the screen and they are rolling repeating clips from last night's protests and riots on the other half.

It is very obvious when you flip back and forth exactly what each station wants you to think is happening in Ferguson. CNN's footage shows little violence from the protesters, mostly just people marching around, standing in clouds of tear gas, running from advancing police lines, etc etc. Fox's clips show the looters, burned down businesses, people throwing bricks and rocks, LEOs making a courageous stand against the violent criminals who are tearing the community apart, etc etc.

Text book manipulation. It has gotten so obvious that these two 'news' organizations can no longer be trusted to provide trustworthy weather reports let alone cogent discussion about current events.

The other question I had was why were they splitting the screen during a live event anyway? Shouldn't we be concentrating on what is being said? What is being done? What the officials are thinking and planning? Splitting the screen only serves to misdirect viewer's attention away from what is being said. Why? So people will not know what was actually put out at the conference? So the station has less chance of being called out when they misrepresent the speakers in the future?

This blatant misdirection and outright manipulation is disgusting!

(sigh) Sorry for the rant, ATSians.....

No, the Ferguson police have not been taking off the street.

The St. Louis County police have been removed and replaced by the Highway Patrol.
