Whoa - settle down a bit Walternate! If you take a little time to read through the prediction and prophecy forum, you'll see that the vast majority of us do not believe any of these things will happen. We just come in, make our dumb@$$ posts and have fun with it. Just climb off of that horse - it's a little bit high for you, and have some fun with these "predictions".

Why do you think most of us call it "doom porn"? Hint: It's not because we believe it.

Here's the deal guys, you can't predict the future (for the majority of things) AND tell someone about it or even look at the result yourself without changing the future.

I'll give you an example; say you go to a fortune teller, and he/she says you're going to die in a car accident on the way to work tomorrow. Let's assume he/she is correct (for the moment), and you will die in car accident tomorrow if you go to work. What are you gonna do? You're gonna call out sick, assuming you believed it. So how can you die in a car accident on the way to work, if you called out sick and didn't set foot in a car all day?

You obviously haven't seen the Final Destnation movies. If a fortune teller says you're gonna die in a car accident and you call out sick, your demise will come another way. You can't cheat death. When you call out sick, you'll put on soup on the burner for lunch. You'll then lose your watch in the garbage disposal in the kitchen sink. While your hand is stuck in the garbage disposal, the pot of soup will catch on fire. When you finally free your hand from the sink, you go down the fire escape to flee the fire. You'll make it to the ground and slip and the fire escape steps will fall and decapitate you as you lie on the ground. End of story.

I'm am settled, just fine. I did like the Fringe reference though. That's basically a complement in my book.

What's more, I'm well aware of the term "doom porn", but if you all know none of these predictions are going to come true, why do we still have a forum dedicated to it, and why do you people not only still try and post predictions, but still look at them? I clicked on the link to laugh at all of you, not because I even thought for a second the prediction was accurate.

High horse? How would you know whether or not whatever proverbial horse I was riding is too high? Everything I said was accurate as far I can tell. It's more or less common sense. Unfortunately, it's less common than you might think.

Bottom line is, you can't accurately predict the future without all the information in the universe, the exact laws of physics, and a hyper-computer more advanced than you can possibly imagine to even begin to accurately predict the future. And like I stated before, even then you would still have to calculate what ALL of the repercussions were of you actually looking at the data, and possibly even telling people about it, for it to still be accurate (there might even be a paradox in there somewhere I'm missing) However, if you did have all that, you could also predict the past. I know you might think you already know the past, beings it already happened, but I'm talking about resolving any and all conspiracy theories there ever was, learning our true past, not just what was in the history books. It would essentially put an end to this site.

So, with that said, considering this site is still very active, I'd say nobody is predicting anything yet. Or if they are, they aren't sharing, which is the logical thing to do anyway.

/rant Continue with your doom porn. Seems like a giant waste of time to me, but then again, so is me typing this, because it's falling on deaf ears (I know it's the internet, it's an expression) anyway.

I realize that post was in jest, but I feel the need to explain that The Final Destination movies are 100% accurate, and totally what would happen in real life.

Why do we post and comment on them? Because of the infintisimal chance they might happen? No one ever made a future prediction that occurred?

"Lynne Palmer, the astrologer considered to have most accurately predicted 911, is a professional astrologer since 1957, living in Las Vegas".

"Avoid terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001" - these are the exact words of the 911 prediction from Lynne Palmer's book, Astrological Almanac for 2001, printed and released to bookstores in July 2000 (Star Bright Publishers).

The 911 prediction is written on page 95 of the book, buried among advice on the best days to go to the movies and worst days to lend people money".

Well - I was a huge Fringe fan and saw that you have the Fringe Department logo from "over there"... so thus the Walternate thing.
But you also have the quote off of the poster in Mulders office in your signature - so we clearly have the same taste in TV shows...but I'm getting off topic.

I'm just saying that you seem to be a little bit overly upset at this forum. I can tell you that you wouldn't be the first. There have been many who have questioned the need for a forum with an almost 100% failure rate (although I seem to remember someone who "accurately predicted" the earthquake in Japan...or at least got "lucky"). Most of us are resigned to the fact that this is just one of those free speech kind of forums, so we all just have fun with it instead of getting irritated. I just look at it as some comic relief from the same old arguments on ATS over the years about aliens, politics, God, 9-11, etc...

Not saying that your assessment is incorrect, because of course it is correct. We all know that. We're just having some fun with it - much like watching Fringe or X-Files, you know it's fiction but it's still fun to watch.

Yeah, and so did Bill Cooper. I find it no coincidence he was shot in his front yard no less than 4 months later, and only 2 months after 9/11, by government agents.

There's over 7 billion people in the world. If everyone made a prediction, chances are a few of them would be correct. Does that mean that those people are somehow psychic? What's more, that prediction was probably made based of off actual information, and then just extrapolated, or deduced a date terrorist might attack the US. If terrorist didn't attack on 9/11, you wouldn't have ever heard about that. Hell, like 20 different intelligence agency's from around the world were warning the US of an impending terrorist attack, based of of intel they collected, not predicted with psychics. Some of them even mentioned September and hijackings possibly to be flown into the world trade center. Hell, we were even running a hijacking simulation that very day, and if memory serves me, it was even a training simulation for planes to not only be hijacked, but flown into places like the world trade centers and the pentagon. The US must have some psychics on there hands.

Again, I can predict that the Empire State building will still be standing tomorrow (etc etc), but that doesn't mean that it took any skill to do so. I'm just playing the odds.

All this negativity right after I got done watching Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose (X-Files) again last night, which deals with multiple claimed psychics and fortune tellers, lol.

This idea that Bill Cooper predicted 9/11 has become urban myth.

He never predicted 9/11 ..what he did was get mad at a reporter that had access to Bin Laden through previous stories so he assumed he was a CIA plant. He then , at a time when just about every defense agency was on alert for an attack , said in the next few weeks an attack will take place and they will blame it on Bin Laden.

Don't get me wrong, I was a cooper fan. Saw him speak multiple times in person, had a first pressing of Behold A Pale Horse. Cooper was incorrect on many things like the blowfish gun being used to kill JFK when in fact a production company played one over on him.

I'm not upset at all, although the way I type usually gives off that impression, I'm just more or less confused. Stupidity does, however, tend to upset me a little. I also realize I don't know everything there is to know, and that is also frustrating.

Also, nice taste in TV shows. Next you'll be telling me you like Farscape and Stargate, lol. I think you're the first person to notice and translate the binary code in my sig btw. Nice. Do you know what the other numbers are/mean?

Your reply holds no water. Your prediction that the Empire State building will be standing tomorrow is a lot more likely than a professional astrologer giving an exact date of a specific event happening on an exact date range more than a year before the event. I bet you would have predicted with 100% certainty on 9/10/2001 that the WTC buildings would still be standing 9/11/2001.

For the sake of argument, yes I would have(but not with 100% certainty. More like 99%). Guess what? Nobody would have heard about it, just like if I guessed every day they wouldn't when they were still standing. But if I somehow got lucky and guessed correctly, people would find ways to use that and say "Look, this guy predicted it!" without mentioning the 9000 other times I got it wrong.

You can amass a bunch of solid data, extrapolate on that, and make a prediction based on logical outcomes, but that doesn't mean you're a psychic, or that you're going to be correct a respectable percentage of the time. In fact, even then, you'd still almost certainly be wrong 99% or more of the time. It's just guess work and playing the odds unless you have ALL of the information, and therefore know ALL of the variables, which nobody could possibly have/know.

This earthquake prediction is a good example. You can look at all the seismic activity you want, but that doesn't mean you can predict earthquakes past a day or two with any degree of accuracy. It's apparently even from a claimed psychic. Like I said earlier, surprise, they were wrong.

What's this so called astrologer's accuracy rate? Do they let you know that, or would that put them out of business?

Keep in mind, this is coming from a guy who trades stocks for a living. Basically my job is to predict the future, and I'm telling you it's very hard. Literally everything can be telling you this stock is going up or down and it will go in the exact opposite direction. If it was easy, everyone would do it. What's more, in the stock market, there are only THREE possible outcomes. The stock goes up, the stock goes down, or the stock stays the same. In real life there are an almost unlimited amount of possible outcomes, and you are telling me someone's going to predict the ONE that is the future reality? If they could do that, then why aren't they billionaires like Warren Buffet?

Neat - a game! Ok, so your user name seems to be some server in Poland? A server with somewhat of a history of sending spam e-mails? I'm not any kind of techie/hacker, so this reply may look stupid, but this is what I came up with in a Google search.

And obviously the 1123581321345589144 under your user name is the Fibonacci sequence/numbers (or golden ratio).

I never did watch Farscape or the Stargate TV shows, though they did look like something I would like. I just never had the time for too much TV. Did watch the Stargate movie though and liked it.

The name is just a Pan-digital number, meaning all the numbers are used at least once.

The numbers under the user name are the Fibonacci sequence.

The number in the location is 2Pi or Tau (the circumference of a circle I believe).

The number in the Mood is the number for the Golden Ratio.

And yes, the binary sequence in his signature translates into "The Truth is Out There", from the X-Files.

Oh and btw the quote "The Truth is Out There" is just something that pops up from time to time at the end of the beginning credits. "I Want to Believe" is what's on the poster in Mulder's office.
