I think that would be considered more coincidence than an accurate prediction, it has to happen eventually.

I hope it would be considered more than a coincidence if someone lays out before the event an exact EQ magnitude which occurs on a specified date.

Interesting article. The next step would be to somehow seperate dreams into those that have an underlying physiological source (such as recently talking about EQs) that can be psychoanalyzed and those few that are truly precognitive in nature.

Nope, you're correct. I'm confident it won't happen................ well pretty confident.

Anyhow, a 9.3 on the New Madrid fault would be horrific. Mercalli Intensity is not tied directly to a magnitude; it depends a great deal on the geology of an area. We've been having a lot of earthquakes in Oklahoma - small ones, mostly under 4.0 magnitude and relatively shallow. Except, they feel a lot stronger and are felt over a larger area due to the geology.

Comparatively, I'd liken earthquakes here to 1-2 magnitudes higher than how the same magnitude earthquake would be felt in California. Not too long ago, we had a quake that was in the 3-4 magnitude range... 3.7 I think... and it frightened a lady who works with my father. She grew up and lived in San Francisco for 25 years or so.
