Dawg, I have a question for you.

I want to put a Horse shoe pit next spring.

Question: Is it hard to build? And If I have to hire someone to do it, how much should I expect to pay?

Do not hire some one to build a Horse Shoe pit, unless of course you are unable to do physical work. Then do so.

Horse Shoe pits are pretty easy, though I would suggest not skimping on the lumber. You need 4x4's...not a lot, but maybe five tall on three sides. And you need sand or sawdust to fill the pit as well (1-1/2 to 2 feet deep) And you need a good length of rebar as well, maybe four foot tall.

(Note to add: I always overdo it and build to last generations)

Once you have all that, just google the dimensions of a official Horse Shoe pit and you'll be good to go.

Or you could go RedNeck and just pound the rebar in. Better watch out for your mower though if you go that route. Oh...and the shoes bounce when you go that route and I can tell ya...THEY HURT!

Very small flying insects that bite.

Much smaller than a fly, in fact very hard to see an individual ..... but that is OK ..... because they exist in little swarms.

P

Here in the States, we call them, "No Seeums". Well you see them due to the swarms, but trying to kill them before they suck you dry is a real pain,

Oh...and the rebar should be 3/4 width inch or bigger. That way it can take the pounding of a steel Horse Shoe slamming against it.

Thank you for the info.

I'm lazy. That might be too much for me alone.

If I did choose to hire someone, What would I expect to pay?

If it were me...One million dollars!

It's really not that hard.

Dig a pit at one end, measure it out and dig a pit at the other end.

I've seen some nice ones, and some cheap ones. But to be truthful...All of them are inexpensive. If you're willing to do the work of a half day.

Ok, you ve talked me into it. I think????

I'm gonna go check utube and see what I can find. I think my most dislike for doing this is digging the holes.

It's a foot and a half deep. It can't be that bad. Unless you have a substrata of clay or rock...that's a pain.

Or are ya sayin' you'll pay me a Million dollars to put in a Horse Shoe Pit?

I'm glad you had a nice dinner. All kidding aside, I really enjoy cooking and when things come together good, it's very rewarding to see your family sit down together and enjoy something you have created.

I stink at making gravy. I usually just use the package stuff. Everyone else thanks me for that. LOL

Hey Guys!

@ True - Good to see You on Your Feet again! Sorry bout missin' Ya this morn. Was only on for a short time and had to leave for the day.

@ Everyone else - Ok let Me try to get this right.
We are all going to a Huge castle, that has been handed down to CC and Night, putting in Horseshoe Pits with mostly Dawg doin' the diggin', while Dinner is getting prepped, with no gravy, and lights are going to be hung there. Then Kat is going to split up a Million Bucks between Us all?
Did I get that right?

(In the Voice of Vinnie Barbarino), "I'm so Confused......" LOL!!!

Hahahahaha! Sure, why not? I say we get our warriors together and fight for that damned castle that CC and I should have inherited, or one like it maybe. LOL Hell, bring out the dragons and the fixers and faeries and pixies to help. Hell at the very least, we should have some special piece of jewelry like a ring or something!

CC, I love dresses and would feel right at home in the castle wearing one. Doesn't matter though, I say we all come as we are. No Gordi, not in our birthday suits. I know that's what you were thinking.

For taste, you need the pan drippings drained, add water and flour and maybe a builion cube. For texture, I don't know, my gravies seem to have a mind of their own. The fat solidified over the top. Hahahahaha! Once it's hot and melted though it tasted great!
