yeah, but the koran has no contradictions, so it must be all truth, according to 1 bronze age guy who couldn't even write.

And thank you for the random comment that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the OP

Sheesh. For heaven's sake. And what is your problem with Jesuits? If they're going to hell, it needn't concern you anyway. Pope Francis is a winner - he's just what the world needs. Your attitude seems a bit superstitious and obsessive to me, but (again) whatever. It's your 20s and your life, not mine. I say, live a little yourself, and stop judging other people and demonizing them.
...
Seriously, what is it to you? Maybe she doesn't even believe in Satan! You do know it's simply a human-invented construct born out of Zoroastrianism, right? A myth.

I would not want the telling of researched history and the information coming out of the military intelligence community to harm your sense of superiority over me. The attitude I see is not one willing to learn what I have to say no matter what I say or what evidence I produce.

I would also suggest that you read the link JesuitGarlic provided earlier in the thread.

And I suggest that people read the link that I provided ... along with the actual bible verse. Jesus made real fermented WINE ... not grape juice. The kind that people can get drunk on. It was no big deal. The wine steward himself gave testimony that it was indeed fermented. He lamented that the wine Jesus made wasn't served first because usually the best wine was served first and then, after everyone was DRUNK, the cheap yukky wine was served. This was done because everyone would be drunk on the good wine. So obviously Jesus' wine had alcoholic content.

My point when I brought it up initially in this thread was that I hadn't been aware that there were Christian denominations who were against the consumption of alcohol on Christian grounds, and were able to provide cogent arguments from the Bible itself ...

People from the protestant denomination 'Church of Christ', as well as some 'Holiness' churches and a handful of other fundamentalist types say it's evil to drink fermented drinks. They cherry pick the bible to support their position. But clearly, drinking fermented drink was natural and expected. It was a healthy thing to do. WIne and beer ... fermented and healthier then drinking the germ filled water back then. Fermented drink - It's been proven historically accurate.

OR

Sister Cristina is set to become a beacon of modesty and decency that will catch on as the 'new cool'

She is stepping out as a sheep among wolves. I admire her for her guts and conviction. Jesus never came to make friends with the rabbis and devout Jews. He hung out with the tax collectors and the other outcasts.

Being 'cool' is not the point. My understanding of the word 'cool' is that it originally came from the idea of detachment. Detachment from the dross of the world - to be unflustered by the trivial. She is encouraging young people to enter the world of triviality and tinsel and mediocrity. Most of these pop stars can't sing (have you noticed?) It is about fame for the sake of fame and it is ultimately about exploitation and money. Have you read Sinead O'Connor's open letter to Miley Cyrus?Link

I don't agree with everything S. O'Connor says but she is right on this one.

Says the dude who thinks the nun was flashing 'devil horns'. Dude .. you've been schooled.
Want to admit that you were dead wrong about the 'devil horns'?
Otherwise, you should look in the mirror and repeat that statement of yours ...

No, the Roman Catholic Church is a heresy and no person can breath fresh air into that putrid institution. It has no legitimate claim to true Christianity and never will. It's nothing more than an insult to God and Jesus and if you understood the teachings you would see why...

*Sigh*

So, all you take from that is an argument over the word cool?

The words, fashionable, the new 'thing', a new popular trend could also be used to replace the word cool.

There is nothing trivial about song, it is used in church to worship. A nun singing a song who's words are actually pure worship - (I already posted the lyrics and what a nun really is about) is nothing trivial.

It is you who is viewing this from the wrong angle here.

Where is that pic from?

Looking at the clearly arabic writing in it, I suspect you have brought something from Islam into the fray here, which makes it rather irrelevant.

It is relevant because the nun makes the hand signal and I'm showing you the hand signal with a picture of the devil... Why would it matter what culture it comes from? Italy and the USA aren't the only two cultures on the planet..

What are you talking about? That picture has nothing to do with the conversation.
The poster I was addressing absurdly accused the nun of flashing 'devil horns' signs.
He has been shown to be dead wrong. She isn't a secret devil worshipper and she wasn't flashing devil horns.

So all the people using the sign language sign of 'I Love You' are really secret devil worshippers?
Unbelievably absurd!

Ask a Jew, a Hindu and a Nazi what a swastika means. You'll get three totally different answers based upon faith, culture and horrific experience, all caused by the one same symbol.

Your argument is invalid for the very same reason.

Want to admit that you were dead wrong about the 'devil horns'?

Hmmm...I was 'schooled' because I expressed a personal opinion that seeing the devil horns symbol left a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth from what was a great performance. Am I not allowed to have a personal opinion? My opinion is that the symbol was unconscious and was mostly associated with being in the moment of a singing event which is often where this symbol is displayed publicly. The whole point of the excitement over the Nun was the feeling that she has transcended perceived boundaries. Perhaps she has.

Perhaps I am merely biased because I research too much into the darkest elements of humanity in order to prevent hurt and disasters in the world. I spend too long each day reading and writing (not here) about the groups particularly associated with governments that carry out Satan's agenda on Earth. The symbol has severe negative connotations to my mind, beyond most reasonable expectations. Forgive me for being unable to completely dissociate my feelings when seeing such things. I have known too much hurt at the hands of Satan

Dude .. it wasn't a 'devil horns' symbol. If you have a 'bitter taste in your mouth' it's because you
misinterpreted what was going on. It's a bitter taste of your own making.

Perhaps I am merely biased because...

... because of your blind hatred of anything even remotely connected with Catholicism.

The woman sang a song. She did a great job. She ended it with the 'I love you' sign ... with the sign that the Italians use to express love and to ward off evil. It's the exact opposite intent than what you accused her of.

I am just using the word 'cool' to show that she is anything but cool. Cool, as I understand it, is detachment. Christians should be detached from the world and she is being the opposite. I just latched onto the word to make that point. As for triviality; it is not the song I find fault with, it is the whole industry that is trivial. It promotes a superficial lifestyle and points in the opposite direction to spirituality. And she is promoting this industry.

Cool, as I understand it, is detachment.

Urban dictionary of 'cool' - HERE

-When someone is "cool" they are popular, suave, and you like them.
-something neat and pleasing.

There are many different situations when using 'cool' is fine.
Saying that this nun is 'cool' ... fits just fine.
Check the link for more examples.

My friend, we are living in the age where Satan roams freely upon this earth, I too have suffered greatly because of him and we are far from the only two. This thread is not about our own lives though.

However, I choose not to look for evil, but good.

I see good in this nun, lots and lots of good. Don't get hung up on a silly hand sign. That's the devil himself trying to prevent you from seeing the life, the joy, the testimony of a life devoted to God that this one lady brings us.

This was done because everyone would be drunk on the good wine. So obviously Jesus' wine had alcoholic content.

It seems you didn't read the link at all, because they actually address the verses provided. Again, they show definitively that the word "wine" (or oinos in the original greek) was used in the Bible (and outside the Bible) to refer to both fermented grape juice, and fresh grape juice.
Your explanation is very nice and all, and it may possibly be true, but it is really nothing more than conjecture. I could very easily create an alternate narrative where the "best wine" is served first because it tastes the best and is freshest (and thus not fermented), because after that, everyone would've had enough wine, and won't want to drink any more.

I was bored, so I did a few calculations after checking a couple of translations and meanings from the original greek, it seems that those "6 stone watercasks" held a combined 450-600l of liquid (probably more, because they were "filled to the brim"). Cana was supposed to be a small village, but even if we stretched it to about 300 people in the village, and ALL of them were attending the wedding, many had already drunk, most of the guests, including Jesus, would be sick from alcohol poisoning (especially if we assume that the "best" wine had the highest alcohol content, which is something the ancients disagreed with), and quite a few could possibly be dead (especially if there were children or women, and if they didn't drink, that means more for those who DID drink so they'd be worse off). And that is using the most conservative numbers!

So either parts of the story are wrong, the whole story is wrong, or it has been misinterpreted and misunderstood...or that those who accused Jesus of being a glutton and a drunkard were right.

Wow, I am truly amazed by this thread, all you guys that know your bibles so well, I'll bet that you will even be able to tell me the brand of cigarettes Jesus smoked.

I'll bet if you gave some time to discover history outside the bible and expanded your focus, as in ancient history, you wouldn't be posting all this nonsense.

e.g. U were not there, it has been changed through out history, it is only 2000 years old, 2000 years ago people perceived things differently and finally all the teachings in all religions refer to the same.

It all references to the pinnacle of astrology.
i.e. the sun god Ra or Horus (egyptian) was the bearer of light....Jesus - 12 disciples were the 12 signs of the zodiac.

U all say that we are somewhat maybe 4000 years on earth, but I can, through research say perhaps we were here before caveman. As far back as 54million years. I did my research, now do yours!

cheers and enjoy knowing the brand of wine Jesus drank or for that matter the make and model of donkey he drove!

Get real and awaken!

Religion was and is evil because it makes no one better, but creates war and power to those that enforce it... I know that this message is going to rattle a lot of cages, lets see if anyone responds, if not Its meaningless, if negative, U will obviously hate me and if positive, U are awakening...and I thank u for that.

Live and love...especially love what universe you are surrounded by, its a beautiful creation, and yes love the creator.
