If you google Shepard Smith fukushima, you find lots of alternative news sources for this, the first being the very shady "Before it's News" which means to me that it could have been an out of context editing job. It's not something that you can find on the Fox News site.

I'd say the video is suspect. It's definitely Shepard Smith. But the context is suspect.

Also, there is a lot of questions about if he (Shepard Smith) has cancer from Fukushima. None of that from reputable sources either.

This may be true, but odds are......no.

Both are culpable and here's why.... Do you honestly think our government would admit to the fact radiation has reached the west coast of the United States? If you do,
, are you still that naive?

Don't get too proud dude. You still included an image of pop star Miley Cyrus & a map of radiation contamination, which was in fact proven to be a map of a tsunami energy dispersal.
The fact that the image contained both of these things is quite disturbing/hilariously ironic given the topic of your thread.

Fox News Anchor: "What a fantastical incredible lie" gov't told over Fukushima, "It's now reached shores of North America" — "We knew... and simply could not prove" it

What "incredible lie" is he talking about, exactly? When did the government (any government) ever say that contamination from Fukushima would not reach the west coast? Since soon after the disaster it was known by various computer models that it would reach the west coast sometime this year.

But it's his lie that "It's now reached shores of North America". It hasn't yet. It will, in very low concentrations. But it hasn't yet.

Sure thing, we can trust what we're being told...right?

What we don’t really know is how fast and how much is being transported across the Pacific. Yes, models tell us it will be safe, yes the levels we expect off the US West Coast and Canada we expect to be low, but we need measurements — especially now, as the plume begins to arrive along the West Coast and will actually increase in concentration over the next 1 to 2 years. Despite public concern about the levels, no public agency in the US is monitoring the activities in the Pacific.

Does anyone have any information on how radioactive the Pacific Ocean became after Bikini Atoll and other blasts? There have been quite a few in the Pacific over the years. I would think the bomb tests would have been worse than the power plant.

And that just shows how ignorant on the subject you are. Why dont you try to find something out about it yourself?

On topic: Has this been confirmed as real, or is dismissable as a fabrication?

Sorry but that's no mainstream news agency and its certainly not from Fox. It's a blog

Exactly. This article is garbage and it's full of misinformation. This has all thoroughly been debunked over and over so please stop with the fear mongering. Yes Fukushima MIGHT eventually get as bad as some of you so desperately for some reason hope it now is, but we are not there yet.

Right. because innocent Japan was just sitting there minding its own business when the evil U.S. came and bombed them. SMH...the revisionist history on this site has become insulting to those who fought and died against Japanese forces in WWII.

WHY ON EARTH WOULD THEY LIE ABOUT IT?!?!?!?! IF and WHEN radiation reaches us, that fact will be verifiable by ANYONE who wants to buy a Geiger counter and point it at the Ocean or the air. I mean seriously, you act as though "they" can somehow "hide" frigging radiation. Are you kidding me?!

This whole thread is pointless..... any one can obviously see that the video in question has been edited, therefore no original source can be found.... it would be very interesting to me for someone to research and find the original videos that the one in the OP was created from.... I think that you would find that what was said in context of the original videos is not related to what is implied in the OP video.

No point in discussing the validity of this thread until the original videos are found and put into context.

My two cents.

This is why I never use Enenews as a source unless I can verify the information from additional sources.

Yes, I know there is no public monitoring of seawater. I'm not sure what your point is.

The point is we have known for a long time that contaminated seawater from Fukushima would arrive at the west coast. The point is the "government" has never said it wouldn't happen. The point is that contamination was found 500 miles off the Vancouver coast last year. The point is that at that time the concentration levels were far below dangerous levels. The point is that this armwaving and claims about "government lies" is pointless.

It's beyond laughable at this point that anyone in this thread is questioning whether or not this is Shepard Smith from Fox News who hosts the "Shepard Smith Reporting" show on FOX.

Shepard Smith Reporting is an American news/talk television program on the Fox News Channel that debuted in October 2013, and is hosted by Shepard Smith.

en.wikipedia.org...

He obviously has been with them for much longer, but this is his most recent role at FOX News.

Here is an image from the Huffington Post which shows him, and the exact background in the OP video.

i.huffpost.com...

Notice no FOX News logo?

What you are seeing is the "FOX News Deck".

On October 7, 2013, Studio B was relaunched as "Shepard Smith Reporting" with new graphics and a new state of the art studio called "The Fox News Deck".[8]

If you still are not convinced, please read the explanations on page 2, 3 and 4.

Thanks for the laughs guys, it was actually quite amusing to watch people try so hard to deny the undeniable.

ATS...better than the comedy channel!

I don't think anyone doubts that it is Shepard Smith, the problem is that there is an an obvious cutaway which indicates editting...I have been searching but I can not find this video anywhere except for youtube,,, the same video has been posted numerous times by various people.

Since Shepard Smith has lost so much weight and that is not that obvious in the video, that leads me to believe that it is at least a year or more older.

It would be less than a year old as the "FOX News Deck" became active on October 7, 2013.

That should limit the time frame that you need to search if you plan on finding the original unedited copy of the video.

ETA:

Perhaps the "ZOOM" effect that seems to crop the video caused him to look heavier than normal?

ETA x 2:

I was unaware that all news outlets make every single one of their new-casts available to everyone via a public archive.

I can't find this video anywhere but youtube or a few questionable news worthy sites..... I have searched for over an hour and can't find anything that links said video to an official fox news site.

It could possibly be a leaked video that was never aired, as it would seem to me that it would have gotten a lot of attention had it been released prior to Mar. 1, 2014 which is the earliest date I can find for this video online.

Something isn't quite right.

if you go to the Enenews site, you will find that the source of their video link was an email and that link no longer works, not a fox news site:

enenews.com...[/url ]

Also, Enenews states the date of the video is Feb, 25, 2014. Fox video shows no such report by Shepard Smith on that date:

I'm not sure if this will help at all in regards to easing your suspicions but if you go to enenews.com... and view the embedded video from there it looks more "natural" in my opinion, in fact it looks like it may even be in HD.

I have done a lot of research on trying to find the original file via the FOX archives and have no luck either.

Anyways, there is no doubt that this takes place in The FOX News Deck with their 38-foot long curved video wall in the background. As for the context, it appears some people will need more convincing before they consider this not to be a hoax. Personally, I am done trying to convince people what I consider to be obviously obvious.

The only logical explanation I can think of is that FOX decided to pull it from their archives due to the sensitive information that was discussed, I have seen stories get pulled many times after the fact due to various reasons, usually due to one of the higher ups having second thoughts as these higher ups would have to approve this before it is aired.

This is off topic, but many stories painting Israel in a negative light in regards to their nuclear weapons programs get pulled rather quick. One of my first threads on ATS had the main OP article pulled by the Washington Post shortly after it was posted, all the information within the article was correct and there was no explanation as for why it was pulled. I am going on assumptions here so these are nothing experience based observations.

May I please ask what you think isn't quite right about the video?
(if you don't mind please watch the E-News version instead of the YT version before you answer)

Now this is turning into a real conspiracy LOL.

Regardless of where the video came from, it was produced in The Fox News Deck unless we have fallen victim to a master photoshopper (if that even applies to videos - cgi manipulation? ).

Which e-mail link did you click? The only e-mail link I could find is where you actually submit an article.

You can't watch it on Enenews,,,, the video no longer is a valid link,,,, it gives an error saying video can not be loaded. My only concern is that there is an obvious cut away early in the video and the video quality is vastly less than it was before the cut away... plus I can't seem to link it to a fox news source.... I suspect that this was put together from at least 2 different videos if not more.... when the video cuts away to show pictures, then there is no way of knowing if the voice over has been editted from a different source.
