Russia considering initiating a lawsuit against the United States in the World Trade Organization (WTO ) because of sanctions imposed by Russian banks , said Minister of Economy in Moscow , Aleksei Uliukaev , according to Tuesday .
U.S. sanctions several senior officials and businessmen from Russia , who believe they have had a significant role in Ukrainian annexation of Crimea by Russia in March.
Rossia Bank was penalized with the president and largest shareholder of the credit institution, Yuri Kovalchuk .
SMP Bank was affected indirectly by the decisions of the U.S. , as co-owners of Boris and Arkady Rotenberg fell under sanctions U.S. authorities . SMP announced that the registered withdrawal of about 9 billion rubles ( 249 billion dollars) because of this.
" WTO gives us some additional options . I discussed at the WTO in Geneva council possibility to initiate lawsuits against the U.S. because of sanctions against banks in Russia and hope to use WTO mechanisms to block the actions of our partners in this matter " Ulyukayev said , quoted by the Interfax news agency , quoted by Reuters .
According to a note on the WTO website , at a meeting of the Council for Trade in Goods , Russia has expressed concern regarding an order signed by U.S. President Barack Obama on the " people of the Russian Federation whose bank accounts have been blocked " .
Russia follows closely the effect of this measure on operators Russians and possible violations of WTO agreements . Moscow Representatives of Organisations urged member countries not to be influenced by political motives in trade relations .
U.S. State Department reported Tuesday that it expects to apply new sanctions on Russia because of the crisis in Ukraine , but suggested that such action is likely before a meeting on Thursday in Geneva between diplomats in Ukraine, EU U.S. and Russia.

If Putin is as shrewd as has seemed, he will allow that...as long as Russians are included in the mission in Ukraine.
Time to find out if he is as cunning as is claimed.

It doesn't work that way.. The mission is carried out by the UN Human Rights Commission and they are currently operating in Ukraine.
