They are requesting the occupying powers to allow the mission in Crimea.
edit on 16-4-2014 by Xcathdra because: (no reason given)

If Putin is as shrewd as has seemed, he will allow that...as long as Russians are included in the mission in Ukraine.

Time to find out if he is as cunning as is claimed.

It doesn't work that way.. The mission is carried out by the UN Human Rights Commission and they are currently operating in Ukraine.

Human Rights commission sees only what it was ordered to see. It's like when you google something, you condition your search criteria to key phrases that back up your initial sentiment.

They are paid to do just that, are they not?

cheers)

ps. water supply to Crimea was cut by junta to the point of water starvation on peninsula. Human rights you say, ha?

Western powers provoke Russia to cut gas supply to Ukraine in hopes if Russia does, to declare state of disaster on humanitarian grounds and use it as a pretence to put military UN boots in a region. But Russia for now will deliver supplies until situation totally defuses practically for no charge just to avoid that. But then, who knows.

China was about as quiet as they could be about it. Their entire position was noncommittal at best.

Australia is talking about the claims made by Russia yet noted nothing has been submitted to support the claims.

Talking about the report from the UNHRC - the report is needed to give a better image of what's going on. It creates a picture from before the protests up to now. He is drawing points that have been the topics of debate - Security Forces / Use of Force in the protests in Kiev / history of civil rights violation by law enforcement in the past / noting the current Ukraine government is investigating those incident.

He is now talk about Russian claims against Ethnic Russians. He is noting the UN report shows no attacks on ethnic Russians leading up to the referendum in Crimea. Since the referendum, he is talking about the problems facing those who do not want Russian citizenship. The situation for Tartars is getting worse, without about 3k displaced.

Its been noticed.. Russia wanted China to openly support their actions, but so far China is remaining quiet and non committal. My guess is because they are currently involved in their own territorial disputes in the Pacific. For all intents and purposes Putin's actions cramped China's style, preventing China from pulling their own Crimea.

Thanks for that! I missed it.

Yup Yup... You are welcome.

For those who are interested the UN website has their meetings archived. You can access them to see what has been going on with this issue and all others.

China is speaking now and is taking a middle fo the road approach, which is not what Russia is wanting. All sides must resolve the situation.

The Ukraine situation is complex and the only way to resolve the situation is by political solution.

China supports discussion on the topic by all involved parties.

His I done now, Australia is speaking now.

if you paid any attention, that trans verse of gas is in violation of initial Gasprom agreement. Reversing Gasprom gas is illegal in few words. Russia will continue to supply junta because of the people who have nothing to do with matters.

I bet US of A would do the same if it was in the place of Russia.

France Rep is speaking now -

REf the UNHCR Report - its damming

Years of oppression by former Yanukovych.

Describes how the regime responded to peaceful presentations with force (Yanukovych).

They want the government of Kiev to work with all groups and have given examples of how they are doing that.

Ref the May 25 election - They want a transparent election with international observers.

The report draws a damning picture of Russian involvement in the incident's leading up to Crimea. There was nothing to support Russian claims in Crimea.

The report also calls out the issues in Crimea leading up to the vote - noting the presence of armed troops / no insignias etc that affected the election.

he is talking about a NY times piece where Russia has created its own reality. Talking about the hundreds of thousands of refugees who were fleeing who have now disappeared (Russia media reports). Discussing soldiers with no insignia being described as non Russian soldiers who have weapons that only the Russian military have.

Discussing religious groups in Ukraine who stated they do not and were not threatened, contradicting Russian claims.

REp from S. korea is talking now.

Report from UNHCR confirmed reports of non Russian supporters being threatened / tortured.

S. Korea has stated they will not accept the use of force to change the government in Ukraine and that action must stop immediately.

A solution can only be found by exploring all diplomatic efforts - especially bilateral.

Encourage all concerned parties to seek a peaceful political solution.

S. Korea reaffirms its support for Ukraine Territorial integrity.

The french ambassador just told the UN that the russian ambassador is delusional and has created an illusion of whats happening in ukraine then proceeded to call out Russia. Even said russia needs to stop trying to play this as a civil war no one here is buying that. WOW im surprised he took such a strong stance actually. And Russia is being hammered for human rights violations in crimea by all of them. Apparently Crimea has become a serious problem but the media cant get in there so we havnt seen the news.I really do feel bad for the Tatars they must be scared to death.

Thought id just add this as Argentina is going through there rebuke did you notice the Russian ambassador left the room. Guess he couldnt handle being called out on the carpet.

REp for Argentina speaking.

What else can be said but repeat what has already been stated.

They see the growing tension in Ukraine (east / south) with great concern.

what else can we say but repeat they are concerned about violent clashes and may bring parties farther away from finding a solution and further destabilize.

Argentina reaffirms they believe its essential to hold to the UN charter principles - non intervention into internal affairs of other states - military / political / economically.

She is talking about the same issues other nations have brought up.

She wants to know what the members can do to make sure the talk goes forward on the 17th and hope it works.

Human rights belong to everyone and reminds the UN principles.

Hopefully this will point out to Putin hes not making friends and countries are not happy with his actions and that no one is buying Russias story. I think he thought Argentina was going to back him up they have in the past.

I said it was explicitly highlighted in the agreement between let's say Germany and Gasprom.

Besides, go ahead and try to re sell Bell's Internet line, say between 30 potential clients? You will be in jail unless you negotiate with Bell sales team a draconian charge and taxing.

Just to sum up so it can get through mass media propoganda, if Germany is to re sell gas it is getting from Gasprom, then Gasprom would have to automatically start charging for the gas Germany gets much more than Germany gets Gasprom gas right now.

Rep of the Kingdom of Jordan is peaking now.

Discussing HR in Ukraine -

Supports the UN mission of the UNHCR.
Supports assisting carrying out the recommendations included in the UNHCR report.

The report spells out the direct relationship the wide spread breaches of HR including the right to freedom, opinion, spread of corruption / security - have been with Ukraine since last year novemebr.

Discussing protestors in Maiden and use of force - led to speedy political changes in Ukraine.
Led to transitions of President / transitional government.

The Maiden response must be dealt with by all parties carefully.

The UN is duty bound to end that rebellion and to restore the unity of its land.

international norms of Human Right must be respected. Jordan calls on rebels to end their activities and engage in talks with the government in kiev.

RE: meeting in Geneva - Hope they get adequate solutions to the crisis to end issue.

Urge the parties to engage in confidence building. Calls on groups to use their influence.

Supports more talk between government of Ukraine with all groups in Ukraine referring to human rights. Dialoguye should start immediately. All parties should promote a climate to lead to successful elections in may. Future of Ukraine is linked with political transition process. Process must be based on HR, soverengty, rule of law, and should represent all factions /. categories of society regardless.

Stress countries not to int4rfer in Ukraine by threat / force.

International community must help Ukraine overcome its difficulties.

Rep of Rawanda -

Thanks the UNHCR report.

Talking about the report and going over the issues included in the report.

There view the international community can still prevent issues in Ukraine. Welcomes establishment of UNHCR monitoring mission in Ukraine.

Its incumbent for the Ukrainian government to build confidence between the government and people in all communities that their concerns will be addressed, specifically Russian speaking community.

E. Ukraine - situation on ground in past few days needs a viable political solution.
Seizing of buildings by masked protestors highlights security issues in that area.

Redirect call to all parties to engage in dialogue with respects to Ukraine. Look forward to talks with all groups in Geneva tomorrow - hopes solutions are found.

people of Ukraine will judge us by action or inaction.

Did Rawanda recommend UN troops on the groung until the election or did he mean monitors? Im guessing it was an interpreter error but im not sure.I noticed he said the misinformation needs to stop because this is merely being used to destabilize the situation.
