Nice perspective. Guess what? If Europe wants to buy gas from Russia, it has to pay in roubles...not US dollars. The rouble will revive, and investors will see the wisdom in it all, as will other countries. Detaching from the US dollar is what will save global finance, and protect it from crooked American financiers and their other Western counterparts.

Oh my! You do realise you are stirring the pot. Pretty soon you will have posters coming on telling you how everything is hunky dory in America, that it is all business as usual, y'know, crooked corrupt financial deals, further demonising of Putin and Russia, gun and knife rampages...just an ordinary day in America amongst all the other delusions that country likes to believe in and peddle to the world.

That will not be the reason why they sell the gas at a loss, but to ensure Western allies remain committed to the US dollar and petrodollar. Britain buys its LPG from the Middle East using the petrodollar, but eventually, when the dollar does crash, it will buy from Russia and pay in roubles. As will other European countries.

No matter how many times people trash America, no-one comes on and tells you that everything is hunky dory there. Haven't you noticed that yet? In any event, the topic of this thread is not America, it is US's Ukrainian war. (Ukrainian soldiers and "separatists" have fired on each other. Deaths have been reported. Putin's bloodless coup is now an insurgency.)

...it is Putin's Ukrainian war.
You have such great faith that the dollar will crash.
Given how much China and the other major economies own in hard US currency and in US debt, how likely do you think they are to let that happen?
Actually, it is to some extent, because of America's involvement with the puppet Ukraine regime.
Please tell me that you are not seriously suggesting that Putin is at war with the Ukraine? When did this happen, when did it breakout? Apart from the Crimea, in which Putin used troops already in the Crimea, what other Russian troops are in the Ukraine? As far as I am aware, Russian troops are massed on Russia's Western Border with Ukraine, and are not in the Ukraine itself.
Perhaps, what you mean to suggest is that Putin has tooled up like Rambo and gone into the Ukraine on his own? Well, that's it then, world war 3.
This answers your question...

Europe is not going to let the USA tell it that it can buy gas at $10 due to a shortage if Russia is selling at $8 and the winter starts to move in.

Of course, at this moment in time, Western countries are ignoring the request of Russia to pay in roubles and I think are putting pressure on Putin to allow them to pay using the dollar, but Putin isn't having any of that. I hope he stands on principal, and stays true to his currency ambition, because other countries will eventually follow suit, and trade in their own currencies, taking a hit initially, but reviving ultimately. Ukraine is another bogus US puppet regime.
What do you get when a coup-imposed gov't hires: US FBI agents, DOJ agents & Dept.of State 'specialists' to run your country?
DJW001, what do you think would be a good name for this NEW Ukraine?
How about: United States of Ukrainian America? No?
How about: Ukrainian State of America?
How about: Independent Ukrainian State of America?
ahhh I'm not good at naming, why don't you give it a shot. . .
