The "phony war" is drawing to a close. Let's see if Russian boys are willing to die for Putin.

What, you think Russia is another 3rd world country which NATO can bully ? if a war starts we are all toast , fried, dead , roasted , radiated .... nothing to brag...

Russia is a third world country. Its only exports are energy and women.

You folks and your moral superiority complex matches quite clearly with what the Nazi's and Hitler believed, what ever your personal opinions maybe or your wet dreams about taking out Russian military , all you will get is Radiated waste and a completely devastated western world and a global economy ...

Unlike the Russian apologists, I am making no pretense to moral superiority. Innocent people are about to die because Putin did not trust in the democratic process.

What about the innocent people in Syria, Libya , Afghanistan, Pakistan , Iraq ..oh they are 3rd world , their lives don't matter , it only matters when actions does not benefit the west ? Whine about it when an innocent civilian actually dies in Russian held territory, as far as we can see all deaths in Ukraine are done by western backed Pro EU govt.

Where was all this empathy when western backed govt; in Bahrain was massacring its people ?
Where was this Empathy when Saudi's and Pakistanis went inside Bahrain to quell the revolution ?

But of course, those things don't matter as those countries are backed by the west and EU . Your words reek of Sheer Hypocrisy ...

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Andriy Parubiy is warning that he has “every reason to believe” that Russian forces along Ukraine’s southern and eastern borders will invade.

“Ukraine now faces the threat of a full-scale invasion,” Parubiy said at a press conference on March 12.

He said that Ukraine would rely on military, police and a newly formed National Guard of 20,000 volunteers to protect is borders.

Parubiy estimates that more than 80,000 Russian troops have amassed along the Ukrainian border, along with as many as 270 tanks, 180 armored combat vehicles, 380 pieces of artillery, 18 rocket launchers, 140 combat aircraft, 90 military helicopters and 19 combat boats and ships.

Although the Russian government had promised to withdraw its troops conducting military drills near Ukraine’s borders, Parubiy said that the number of Russian troops along the Ukrainian border has actually increased in recent days.

No id say Putin is just cashing in his chips even he knows if he pushes it to far he loses everything. The last thing he wants is to back Nato into a corner because he knows hed lose and no benefit to it.

I have seen those sources. 220k troops seems a bit much. Especially since they need troops in other hotspots near their borders. I think there would be even stronger rhetoric if that many troops amassed along the Ukraine / Russia border, but what do I know?

Crimea was Russian for about 300 years , Putin still considers Crimea Russian , the fact that it changed sides for just around 20 years changes very little for Russia . Recently there was a rally of 70,000 people in Moscow supporting the Crimean re integration. West is just crying foul without trying to understand and comprehend Russia's history ...

Has been on the loosing end for the past 10 years loosing its allies one by one , despite NATO's agreement with Russia for keeping away from Russia it has broken the agreement and has been coming closer and closer to Russia's borders ..

As i said, Russia is a cornered bear , which is why you are seeing Putin not willing to negotiate on his stance even 1 bit on Syria , Georgia and Ukraine

It doesn't matter what Russia thinks. It is a question of whether or not the Crimean people want to be ruled by Moscow. Either way, Russians are about to die. Nothing you or I can do about it.

Thing is Crimea's Gas and water supplies come through Mainland Ukraine, until and unless Putin has some plans for getting Mainland Ukraine , atleast Eastern Ukraine , i don't understand how reintegration will really help Crimeans, considering its going to take Russia some time to build the new infrastructure necessary ...

Funny i dont think even Russia considered that group allies they were dictators and terrorists. I would hove Putin could find better allies than that. But you do make a good point seems like Russia does need to start finding a new way to gain allies. Because as the old saying goes with friends like those who needs any enemies. But Russia continues to destroy their reputation at this point very few countries are going to trust them. Putin has made a major mistake hes driven eastern europe away from Russia it was his actions not the west.

It's not Russia's turn.

I hope they've stopped the clock then...this could be a very very very long game of chess.

Just watch power and electric will get cut off in Crimea right after the vote. Ive seen too many people making that threat not to consider it a possibility. Than there is all those Crimeans that are going to die from terrorism its going to happen. There is a large percentage of people who dont want to be part of Russia and it will get bloody.

Ukraine has already said they will do nothing militarily if Crimea decides to join Russia. Their main focus is protecting the rest of Ukraine's borders.

Wether or not Russia decides to push further into the few cities in the mainland that said they want to have a referendum remains to be seen.

"international Community" includes countries other than the west as well.. India and China has openly backed Russia and the rest are just keeping their mouths shut . So Russia is in no way isolated . The Mistakes of western powers for last 10 years is conveniently ignored while you readily blame Putin after funding a revolution in his own backyard ( don't even try to defend that ).

IT was the fault of NATO that they creeped closer and closer to Russia despite assuring Russia in the 90s they would not ..
Despite all the doomsday predictions about Russia being told here , i believe nothing will happen and Europe will not place any Sanctions on Russia . ..
