Ugh, I'm unable to use the quote function .. starting over.

""this isn't an invasion, its not an occupation. Its undefinable at the moment.'''

I like this a lot ^^^ How about stalking ?

I'm thinking more kidnapping since there holding Crimea at gunpoint.

kidnapping his own military bases and territory?
what a load of bull-plop.
At-least the Ukrainians aren't as stupid as the western populace.

Russia hasn't ''kidnapped'' anything, it appears Ukrainians are free to do what they please in Crimea so long as they don't enter Russia military installations or start a fight.

how many Ukrainians have been killed in Crimea by the evil kidnappers?

Just more nonsense bred from pathetic western media.

You seem to have forgot that there holding Ukrainians hostage in there own military bases. Oh and you seem to have forgot them taking over the government buildings which oddly is not on the Russian base. See the Russians are blocking roads and setting up positions in Crimea they only have 3 bases there so i guess they just expanded the borders of there bases to cover all Crimea. Yeah that makes sense doesnt it.

Why do you think Russia should have control over another country odd dont you think? But see thats how the Russians think we need to control Crimea.

For starters, Crimea isnt a country. Check your atlas.
And I dont think Russia should have 'Control' of Crimea, Putin has stated from the beginning he doesnt want to control of Crimea.

you need to just relax a bit..

Kiev fell to anti Russian protestors.
Crimea was going to be next, Russia couldn't allow this because of the Black Sea Fleet/Port and the Russian military bases there. So Putin ordered the local security forces (get that, NOT AN INVASION) to setup defensive lines.

Stop pretending that Russia is trying to take over a country.

Again shows a bully using military force for political gain but trust me there will be no political agreement with Kiev giving the Russians Crimea.

How? Has he threatened Ukraine? Has he flown jets over Kiev? Has he beaten up and manhandled Ukraine's army?
From what we've seen (although you clearly choose to ignore) Russian and Ukrainian forces are talking and negotiating between each other. No one is being bullied.

Those that side with Ukraine aren't being dragged away and shot or sent to gulags.. they are being held IN THEIR BASES.
Those that don't want to be Ukrainian army are siding with the local forces of Crimea.

Id say the west doesn't have to do a thing the Russians are doing great stirring up anti Russian sentiment all on there own all we do is sit back and watch.

No, stupid naive idiots on forums believing everything the Murdoch media tells them do a good job of that on their own.
Funny how no one has an opinion from Poland, Belarus, or another other x-soviet states about the anti-russian protestors that sacked Kiev.

And all Putin will be able to do is sit back and think of the former glory because he didn't realize times have changed and the world has a global economy now.

Go listen to his interview from yesterday, he talks in great detail about global economies. but once again naive western fools wont bother because they prefer to sit back and act tough against the big bad bear.

what a joke, yesterday people like you were going on about how Russia was the new Third Reich and Putin was acting like Hitler and massing armies on the border.. what happened?

I find it very interesting how some posters in this (and other UK threads of recent), seem to be defending Russia's actions with....shall we say "extreme passion"?

To the point where they are calling other posters "idiots" and "lunatics", etc. Rather insulting, and telling when you have to start resorting to insults in your posts.

Also interesting is the amount of "The West Is Evil" in their posts.

Just interesting to note.

I really have a neutral opinion on the mater at this point. Russia wanting to protect it's assets in a country makes sense. Russia going outside of those assets however does not make sense (well, it makes sense if you are planning on doing more than protecting your assets). However it does remind me of Post WW2 actions by the USSR in some ways, if any part of the UK becomes "absorbed" shall we say by Russia.

That and I bet Tom Clancy would be eating this up if he were still alive right now.

I think you'll find people (of which I am one) are over the blatant crap being fed from western media being eaten up by naive fools, then spouted on this board over and over and over.

Its enough to drive anyone crazy, me personally I'm tired of hearing people compare this situation in Crimea to that of Germany and the Sudetenland, yet the same people keep doing it.

It's not about being passionate ''for Russia'' Its about being passionate for the truth staring you in the eyes that people chose to ignore.

Pro-Russia protesters have reoccupied the regional government building in Donetsk that was taken back by police earlier today (the pro-Russia protesters having originally occupied it on Monday.

About 200 supporters were addressed by a women on stage. They surged forward and stormed the building, chanting “Berkut, Berkut [the disbanded riot police]” and “Russia, Russia”. They emerged on the first storey of the building. Russian songs from the Soviet era were played over loudspeakers. There was lots of fist-pumping and cheering. They also announced over the loudspeaker that Russia 24 was reporting that Vladimir Putin has been nominated for the Nobel peace prize for his work to protect Ukrainians and there were cheers in response.

Putin is reportedly on the list for the Nobel peace prize but it is believed to be for his role in the deal to rid Syria of chemical weapons.

YES ! Thank you . Name calling doesn't really get a point across and actually usually turns off the intended listener.

Many posters on ATS are anything but suckers who fall for US MSM tricks. It's difficult in a time like this to find reliable sources and knowing that most are probably really tainted, it's good we are just sharing them all. Here's a source, take it or leave it because it's maybe true, maybe not.

BREAKING NEWS UK PM David Cameron gives his strongest indication yet that the forthcoming G8 meeting in Russia will be abandoned in a continuing stand-off over Moscow's intervention in Ukraine. Mr Cameron says it is "hard to see" how the gathering of the powerful group of nations can go ahead in Sochi in June, and insists "nothing should be off the table" in terms of sanctions.

No crimea isnt a country but Ukraine is and you might want to give a map to Putin because he seems a bit confused where his border is. Well if Russians shouldnt have control of Crimea as you said i guess they need to get all those armed troops back on there base where they belong. As far as anything Putin states this man lies i wouldnt believe him if he told me the sun comes up in the morning. Hes broken agreements and treaties and has shown over and over in this crisis how he says one thing and does another.

Kiev fell to anti Russian protestors.

They were not Anti Russian id say they were pro Ukrainian. but i guarantee now alot of Ukrainians aren't happy with Russia so sounds to me they accomplished nothing.

Crimea was going to be next, Russia couldn't allow this because of the Black Sea Fleet/Port and the Russian military bases there. So Putin ordered the local security forces (get that, NOT AN INVASION) to setup defensive lines.

You dont set up defensive lines in someone elses country thats called an invasion.

Stop pretending that Russia is trying to take over a country.

I think armed troops occupying Ukraine is far beyond pretending wouldnt you?

How? Has he threatened Ukraine? Has he flown jets over Kiev? Has he beaten up and manhandled Ukraine's army?
From what we've seen (although you clearly choose to ignore) Russian and Ukrainian forces are talking and negotiating between each other. No one is being bullied.

Armed troops invading seems hostile to me. Flying into Ukrainian airspace with two fighter jets well that doesnt sound friendly either. And deciding what happens in Kiev is not what he wants and sending in troops to change the outcome is called an invasion. If Kiev decided they dont like Russia thay can do that there a seprate country. The US has lots of countries that dont like them if we invaded on that flimsy excuse we would be a very busy nation and American troops would be landing in Moscow. Luckily most nations dont invade simply because they dont like there neighbors.

No, stupid naive idiots on forums believing everything the Murdoch media tells them do a good job of that on their own.
Funny how no one has an opinion from Poland, Belarus, or another other x-soviet states about the anti-russian protestors that sacked Kiev.

Nice go to insults because Russia has invaded another country and no one is buying Russian propaganda. As far as other coutries in the area well there afraid Russia is going to send troops to assit them as well. We can see this by poland calling an emergency NATO meeting.

Go listen to his interview from yesterday, he talks in great detail about global economies. but once again naive western fools wont bother because they prefer to sit back and act tough against the big bad bear.

Oh we listened trust me and hes going to learn what global economy is all about when he ends up isolating his country do to his actions if invading Crimea. Godd general rule is dont argue with a mad man you simply take steps to contain him.

[Quote]what a joke, yesterday people like you were going on about how Russia was the new Third Reich and Putin was acting like Hitler and massing armies on the border.. what happened?

I never compared him to Hitler and wouldnt do that Hitler was much smarter than this amateurish attempt made by Putin.I would say hes trying but hes not Hitler.Hopefully oh those Russian billionaires will reign in this loose cannon before they go broke.

Given those leaked tapes, and if the new government is showed to be illegal because of it, then isn't Yanukovich still the genuine leader and Putin is the only one doing the legally correct thing according to the Budapest Memorandum?

Mind. Blown.

Russia is not the new 3rd reich, the US became the new base of operations for the NWO. Russia and the Nazis are old enemies. This whole thing was started by a western backed neo nazi group. Ask Ukrainians what it is about, there is a idealistic divide going back to WW2, Russia supporters vs neo nazis. I find it funny, people think that the nazis aren't significant anymore. After WW2 all of the higher up officers and scientists either defected to the US or Russia, only the lower echelon were convicted of war crimes. John Kerry is Forbes, Forbes gave loans to Hitler. Skull and Bones society was founded by Bavarian occultists, the nazis were bavarian occultists. Things are actually a little more heated than people think. There are signs in the sky.

Here is the latest on this issue from BBC Live Feed

15:28: Estonia's Foreign Minister Urmas Paet speaks out over a leaked telephone conversation he had with EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton in which he discussed the events in Ukraine.

15:29: Mr Paet said he had been making known to Ms Ashton the rumours he heard on a visit to Kiev, that snipers from both sides were involved in the killing of protesters in Independence Square last month.

15:30: He accused those behind the leaking of the phone conversation of trying "to discredit the new government of Ukraine".

None of which is what he says on the tape.

Way to backpedal.
