I would like to give Mother Nature a round of applause here....what a show!!

Since it's 05:00 in the morning and I have to be up at 07:00....I'll just go make some coffee because I can't pull myself away from this fireworks display.

An explosion happened near the base. I don't know if new vents are opening at the base or if it's just lava that fell.

It does look like a number of new vents opened up. Not sure what happens if it just becomes one big hole.

This could go on for another month or two.

That explosion was probably a propane tank caught in that new lava flow.

Was pretty cool though!!

there is something about volcanoes , I sat and watched that live stream for a solid hour last night and i just stared at the lava , it makes me go into the zone
and that noise , the rumble and the loud venting , it just puts me into a trance

I just realized that the lava flow at the base which started flowing last night (from left to right, bottom of the screen) is actually on an other ridge.

So that should be a new vent...pretty far from the volcano. Be interesting to see if this puppy grows into something.

I think the new stream was caused by the front wall from the lower vent partly collapsing at the left side. the lower geisher merged with the smaller one behind it and the pressure and heat melted part of the wall.

it was one of the last things I watched before going to sleep. I'm in the same timezone as La Palma, + 1hour, so all the action goes on at night time... eventually I do have to get more sleep! lol

Watching this volcano is so mesmerizing!

No, I was talking way at the base of the volcano, in between those houses in the forefront.

In my best Samson en Gert's:

"Wa, wa, Gertje, wat is dat een volle kano?"

Same time zone, your northerly neighbor.

Oh wow, hadn't even noticed that one, it's not very visible at daytime

What is the white smoke/steam that is floating around the top?
I thought it were steam vents from the expanding ground water in the mountain, but on the stream they tell me it is coming all the way down from the bottom of the hill out of fissures that formed yesterday... looks like it's intensifying though.

LOL @ Samson en Gert,
but your screen name gave it away already :p

Made this screencap for you of yesterdays drone flight...

In the red circle you can already see some venting below the Fumaroles that are on the left side of the volcano.

Here is the entire drone flight before it went too close to the heat...

And a small drone flight from yesterday over the lava field to get a better idea of the scale...

Thanks

Hadn't seen that one. It's on the inland side of the mountain top?

When the cam zooms out there is smoke coming from the base of the mountain, left of the main lava stream near the houses. Wasn't there yesterday....

Lava blasts out of new vent on La Palma volcano

Multiple vents have opened since the volcano began erupting on Sept. 19 but the Canaries Volcanology Institute described the latest opening as a new "focus of eruption".

Vents are good..less pressure.

It's those fumaroles rolling over the left side that have me worried!!

yup.

Is that on the West side where the 1949 rupture occurred?
Lot's of websites talking about that rupture and how it is now a 4 km tall and 4 m wide visible 'breach' with vents going deep into the mountain. I've seen images of it but can't exactly pinpoint it on a map

I think you'll find this article most interesting:

www.nature.com

On a side note...did that left side of the crater collapse!

Expect the rest to go as well and the crater growing to the size of the entire footprint of the current volcano.

ETA: Here's the graph for the M3.6 half an hour ago
