Remember when the liberals celebrated the internet as a free exchange of ideas in late 90s and early 2000s? They just meant their ideas.....

ACCESS TO AND USE OF THE INTERNET IS NOT A CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT! . In some extreme causes, it's been outright revoked.

Yes, you do know what your talking about. But no, you don't know what your talking about. The internet is a privilege, not a right. You use thier digital infrastructure, you play by their rules.

Its privilege whining when privilege no longer works (talking about Parlor not OP).

This has nothing, not a damn thing to do about freedom of speech. Freedom of Speech is for those knuckleheads to gather at the capital and say whatever they want, which they did.

Parlor and it's suckers are upset that no one is willing to host them and considering the events, who would? So those chumps can plan more of what happened and leave me and my business liable? # no.

What happened to Parlor has already happened to other apps and platforms for the same and/or different things.

It's called business. People are in their feelings because it happened to something they identify with.

This was NEVER what America was supposed to be nor can we allow it to happen, left, right or center. It's not legacy of freedom we want to pass down to our children and not something we can be proud of.

Suppose to be? Suppose to be is for kid books and movies. Start with what America is. January 6 is what America is. Work your way back.

And it's why big tech didnt want to host Parlor. That's it.

Regulation and BS been happening and folks been blaring the alarms. it didn't happen to me so i'm going to continue watching tv. But now i'm suppose to clutch my pearls (lovin this term) and watch the skies because Parlor got axed?

HA

I'm shocked that so many intentionally conflate this as a free speech issue.

Its not.
In America you have the right to say whatever you'd like (bar certain words in some situations).
Nobody is obliged to give you a soapbox for your words.Nobody is obliged to lend you equipment for your words.

This isnt a free speech issue, never will be, it is the equivalent of claiming a publishing house that refuses to publish my novel has violated my right to free speech.

False.

So come out of the 80s and into 2021 will ya.... The internet is the platform of what we called books of the past...

The problem is you have a book you want publish and there is like only one publisher who not only will not work with you, but will shut down all the other avenues available to you to go somewhere else, hell they might even go after your ability to use credit.

How is not allowing one to publish anything different than book burning? Your logic is... Well you need to make the book first to suggest it should not be burn, but to stop the book from ever being created is OK. lol

The bottom-line is do you want my pen or sword?

It is funny not too long ago the liberals' said it is everyone's right to have access to the internet to the point the Goverment should provide free access to anyone in need otherwise it is oppression of one's rights.

So is using the internet a privilege now or can we say in 2021 its a right? I agree it is not a freedom of speech issue, its an antitrust law under the Sherman Act.

The other side of this is these companies have benefited from Goverment support and protection while now alienated 70+ million people and they can continue to do that with that Goverment oversite that has helped them a great deal in the past.

Actually...the internet was created by the US gov and British so technically its not the ISP's property but a public domain.

No. The internet are the roads you traveled to get to the library or book stores to obtain those books. The books themselves are privately owned websites that have the content.

But again, thats not even remotely the case. You're allowed to publish the book, but if a publishER does not want your content you cant force them to WANT your content.

But, what people pay ISP's for is the connection to the internet, not the internet itself.

It is like people paying for cable so that they can view programming on their televisions that satellites are beaming down all around us without having to put a huge dish on the roof of their house and buy the equipment to convert the signals to something their televisions can use.

So, you admit Facebook and Twitter are publishers then?

I agree, and section 230 is disregarded in their actions.

Time for them to start living under the umbrella of publishers, not platform providers.

I'm not for censorship but...

Stop right there!

So, you ARE for censorship then!

No I'm not... I hope parler comes back but with proper moderation like on ATS.

I also don't agree with other social media sites censoring the right wing as long as they observe the T&C like on ATS.

Hi
Have you been on Parler? Just wondering. What moderation do you expect on the site? Do you think that amazon stopping the platform is justified ? It looks like you want censorship as long as it works in favor of a specific party or ideology. Looks like you want conservatives censored.

They are acting as a monopoly. Funny how the capitalist hating Marxists here applaud shutting down a new startup and allowing a monopolistic shark to operate on the waters if it suits the narrative!!!!!!
I always knew Marxism is opportunistic.

Not even close.

Let's look at what happened to say Parler agree with them or not.

Their app was removed by Apple and Google then servers cancelled by Amazon.

Picture getting clear yet?

Same thing will happen there.

Capitalism will take over and they will be hosted from other servers.

This will be competition in the market against Amazon and the rest. Same with platforms like Facebook and Twitter. It just takes time for markets to shift. It's happening already.

This isn't quite the whole picture I'm afraid. If you are familiar with the owners of Parler as I am you would know they are unable at this time to get anyone with a server farm big enough to host them despite the cost because they have been outcast by the big "3".

Political intimidation. Any other company that would take them on in a second will not and it's not based on their ideology nor Parlers, it's based on fear that they will be next.

If Stormfront has found a place to host their trash, I am sure Parler will be able to as well.

cpusa and Neo nazi marched with Occupy Wall Steet and people at Zucotti Park were using bullhorns to push communism and mob rule ...
so stop the nonsense. I bet CNN already used it as a talking point anyway.

So do you believe we are talking antitrust laws here? You have a couple of platforms that control a vast portion of social media, hosting etc, and they not only decide to cancel you, but also prevent you from going someplace else all based on political agendas. We are also talking about companies that have had years of support and protection from our Goverment, so in a sense they have been in bed with the Goverment a very long time, and so it is hard for me to suggest a fully independent private company.

Cancel culture is the new weapon of choice in 2021 and if you see that as OK then don't be surprised with the backlash.

They are working on shutting down other publishers... Come on...I'm sure liberals love it, but they have the power to remove your provider, and even funding capabilities. Its like saying your are not wanted on the internet and your money is no good here...

I know you and a few others will say forever this is perfectly OK to do no matter what, but there will be repercussions you will not like to come out of all this.

The other part that is very discerning that these companies are directly working on creating isolated social media were everyone is the same and if you think there is a gap now just wait a couple of years. Social media and MSM is very powerful in controlling the masses where they want it to go.

It is laughable for you all to think it was people power who took out Trump and installed the potted plant...MSM could have snapped their fingers and Trump would still be President and Biden wouldn't had made it past the primaries. You might like it today but in a decade you might be asking each other "what have we done".

Do you believe that shutting down websites that perpetrate child pornography laws being shutdown violates antitrust laws?

Any objectional content or content that breaks laws should always be shutdown. Inciting violence and insurrectionist rhetoric whether from Al Qaeda or from within the US that gets shutdown should always be lauded by every US citizen. The Right used to.... times have changed.
