Have one built for you. You don't have to buy a brand name confuser. And maybe have the guy install Linux as the OS. Yea, there will be a learning curve, but I'm sure you'll get the hang of it. I haven't heard of anybody recently liking Windows 8 or 8.1 or any of the newer Apples.

Aww, thanks sweetie!
Sorry about your computer woes...it's like having your oxygen cut off!!

I have a fujitsu laptop, that I bought maybe 3 years ago. With all our stupid taxes, It cost me about $700...which at the time, was okay. (pfft...how quickly things change)
Anyways...I didn't know what kind to look for, I trusted the young guy in the store...I knew just enough to know that he was being honest with me...and (touch wood) I've never had any problems with it!

Good luck!! We will all be here waiting for you with hugs and tea, lol.

Well crap! Now I'm intrigued.

I'm thinking that the bottle of booze was the counter balance to the piece of wood at an angle. Am I right? I though that was pretty cool and would like to make one for my friends who's anniversary (and first child) is coming up.

I did that with the computer I have now, some brand no one has even heard of and for years it really was a great computer. People thought I was nuts at the time. LOL

Thanks Honey. I would like to get this before my birthday in April. The X will take me which is nice.

I must admit I am curious to try it. I must purchase some match sticks...where's the little ragged street urchin matchstick girl?
Pffft. Never around when you need one.
Okay, I'll quit kidding.
I will get matches and I will try it. I'm still skeptical, but watching the video figured that likely the end of the match stick on the table is held down by the force of the weight in the middle (at the other end of the match) from the interlocking cutlery, but then I'm no Einstein so for now it's still....magic. (Couldn't hear the video....for some reason?)

I love your style of poetry, you are right, it is emotive and very funny! I still don't know what my style is, I'm still testing the waters.

Dawg, I promise I won't tell a living soul just no more poo! Don't do it. Don't make me start a new thread called 'Pictures of TDawg with Teddies'

Hi Gordi! Welcome home! How was practice? Hugs!!!

Hi Night! Nice to know there's another wildcat in the room. Hugs!!!

Confusers will do that to you.

My family is always calling for tech support...drives me nuts because they all have different OS's, but I try to breathe deep and help them.

My folks and sister just switched to Apple and are still doing it. "I don't have a Apple and have no clue", I tell them, "How's the weather up there?" Thus enedth the tech support.

Yep - that's all true jacy! It's all about balancing the weight to the left and right AND to the front and rear of where the match touches the table! If there's equal weight left/right AND front/back of that point, then it will balance there!
The weight of the handle part of the cutlery is actually "behind" the balance point (where the match touches the table) and that weight counteracts the weight of the parts of the cutlery which are in "front" of the balance point (and off the table)
I don't actually think there's any sound on that video? Well, just me padding about in my slippers...quietly!

Tsu, you can write a sonnet!! You have that romantic (old-fashioned?) way of writing...I can't seem to do that.
Everyone's style is different...even people who think they 'can't'...usually can write if they try.
I love writing...always done it. Maybe it's because I'm an only child pre-computers? Had to have imagination.

Evenin' All!
I'm just back from band practice, and thought I'd pop in and see if anyone managed to balance their cutlery yet??? LOL

Oh...and the only cutlery I have managed to balance was the time a knife slipped and stabbed me in the leg, trying to catch it just made matters worse and I ended up driving it in deeper. Stood straight up and proper. TA-DA! And now for my next trick.

OUCH!

WINE BOTTLE STAND
The piece of wood is about 2cm (3/4") deep, 6.5cm (2 1/2") wide, and 22cm (8 1/2") long.
There is a 4cm (1 1/2") hole (with edges rounded) towards one end of the wood, the centre of the hole being about 5cm (2") from one end.
Both ends of the wood are cut at the same angle - about 45*, so that from the side it looks like a parallelogram.
When it sits with one end flush on the table, the whole piece of wood sits at a 45 degree angle, and when the neck of a wine bottle is inserted into the hole, the weight of the bottle is evenly distributed either side of the balance point (at the foot of the piece of wood) and this enables it to stand perfectly balanced.

Hope this helps?

Please let us know how you get on?

G
