Hi T Dawg,

It's not really role play. Some scenes have been enhanced but I can assure you the characters are very real ATS members. The story originated in another thread and Jaky thought to put her feelings on the matter into creative expression.

It's all fun, but it's all serious too.

Sites can be quite different from one another, some being looser with the rules, some being stricter. As members we agree to these rules if we want to stay members, even if we don't always agree or like them. I have travelled to too many sites and have found none I enjoy as much as this one.

I am with all of you who are greatly dissapointed and saddend at the loss of some of the most amazing threads ever and wish with all my heart that things could be different.

Jacy, don't worry. I figured myself that it would be considered a collaborative piece and maybe it might be. The thing is...we are not in any writers section,we are in chat chat, hence the confusion. Maybe go to Springers thread or PM for clarification. I kinda feel like I'm walking on egg shells and am terrified of doing or saying something that would result in your thread closing down. I'd cry! LOL Seriusly!

I don't know what to do either.
I don't want to stop being a member here...I've been enjoying this site for years.
I wasn't intentionally breaking rules, and I'm pretty sure you all know that.

I guess if there are any lurkers who want to pop in and say 'hi', now would be a good time.
I'm not going to write any more tonight. I was full of ideas for 'the party' chapter, but right now I'm just kind of deflated and sad.

Okay, I sent a message to the Mod who moved us to chit-chat. I asked if my story, plus your contributions...could all be moved to the Collaborative section, minus the chit-chat.
I'll let you know what I'm told.

This thread is fine as it is, the mods moved it to 'Chit Chat' from 'Short Stories' so we could all get stuck in I think.

I really think if they had an issue with this thread they would have posted here. I think we are safe to continue as is. If I'm wrong mods, please correct me.

I think the warning was directed to people that were using too much innuendo in their posts (myself included) and sneaky ways around talking about no-go subjects.

I think if there was an issue here the mods would have shut the thread or at least deleted posts.

I'm not worried.


Mods - Thank you for forgiving me once. I will be on best behavior from now on. I apologise to all posters if my actions have put your own posts and threads at risk.

ETA, I just saw the bit about collaborative writing. I'd rather we be somewhere we can carry on as we are, I don't mind where.

okay part two added to this thread, see below part 1 of my part of the story

If memory serves, wasn't this thread originally in the creative writting section, then I woke up one morning and it was here in chit chat? It must have been so as I remember raising this issue then and my concerns that it could be shut because of it's 'theme' and therefore wasn't in the right section.
Who moved it from the writers section?
jacy....don't panic or get despondent....just U2U Springer or a mod to ask for clarification as to where this thread should be.

Jaky, don't be disheartened. It's just a technical / legal thing. As long as we behave we will be fine.

Apparently, "smiles at ferret* is role playing.
So I am guilty. And ignorant...and sorry.
I thought it was just expressive writing, but at least now we know.
I asked if we can be moved to Collaborative writing, but I agree that I enjoy the chit-chat (heck, I NEED it!), so if they don't mind us writing our story as we chit-chat, then maybe we can just stay put?
As soon as I know, you'll know.

I have just messaged Springer on his thread to ask for clarification.

He seems to give the impression that roleplay is ok if it doesn't make the system laggy with tonnes of pages. I'm hoping he will reply with a better definition of the boundaries.

Smiles at ferret is roleplaying. LOL Ah ok, so instead you would have had to have it written as "Jacy smiled at Sophie and..."

In oter words, we must keep our writing like the writing in a book. In a book we wouldn't say 'smiles at ferret.'

My head is spinning! No roleplaying, ok yes now roleplaying is allowed. WTH????
I know from experience on other forums roleplaying....there WILL be tons of pages. Whenever you get a good group of writers together, the possibilities are almost endless. I don't think I have ever seen a role playing story that didn't have a LOT of pages.

The only way around that would be to find out the limit of pages and end the story so it can have a part two and begin anew with the continuation.

This is a direct quote from Springer (site owner)

The staff has noticed a mild surge in the number of "Social/Role Playing" threads in the ATS Off Topic forums (Chit Chat primarily) which in and of itself is not a problem until they get too large (several hundreds of pages and thousands of replies) and start lagging the database or, worse yet, violate our Terms and Conditions. We are closing the existing threads that are over 400 pages and any threads that repeatedly violate our TAC.

I think his beef is with laggy threads and the breaking of certain rules such as discussing things thirteen year olds should be sheltered from.

He says;

If we avoid the 'untils' we should be ok to carry on as is. I am still waiting for clarification though so don't take my word as gospel.
