No representation without taxation and a flat tax rate. Everyone pays the same flat rate. If you are below a certain level on your income, you can opt out, but if you opt out, you also give up your right to vote until you opt back in and show that you have paid into the system for no less than two annual tax cycles before receiving your franchise back (this prevents people from paying one year just to vote then dropping again).

Also, if you receive enough public assistance to cancel out your income tax, you lose the franchise until you can show that you paid to the state more than you received from the state.

It's simple - no more voting more money out of other's pockets. It's immoral and wrong and part of the problem with the system.

Look at Mystik's proposal to tie salary to approval. How easy is it to buy approval with magic money and free stuff under the current system? It's been done for decades and we have a $17trillion debt to show for it, not counting the state and municipal debt.

I wouldn't change much. Constitutional amendment to ban lobbying. term limits unless the politician is willing to submit to total scrutiny of every aspect of their lives beyond those limits. I would eliminate campaign contributions, and allow any candidate that meets requirements to get free radio and TV advertising.Get the money out of politics, simple as that.

I would also repeal the 17th Amendment and put the senators back in the hands of the state legislatures. It would make your state government elections more important, and it would keep the feds from having as easy a time pawning off spending through unfunded state mandates. The senators were intended to represent the interests of the separate states, not the people of the states who are already represented by the House.

*This is just a small list of mine:

Any politician who is caught working in the interest of any other country shall be led before a firing squad within 24 hours and executed in public view.

All welfare would end, except for the mentally handicapped and severely disabled.

All foreign aid would be stopped. Not one penny to any other country EVER.

An indefinite ban on immigration. Our cup is full.

All tax money has to be accounted for. Every cent.

No person shall have dual citizenship; You either become American or you remain foreign.

All prisons would be hard labor 16 hours a day, 7 days a week with absolutely no luxuries except for text books.

People who committed murder, beyond a reasonable doubt, shall be executed within 24 hours of the crime.

All executions should be done on the courthouse lawn for all to see.

Child molesters get castrated within 24 hours of their crime. If they repeat the offense then they get hung by the neck until death occurs.

No politician shall accept any donations from any corporation.

US school systems are to be re-written by un-biased people who have no need to distort history--and we should use a better math system.

The federal reserve would be owned by the American people.

90% of products on store shelves will be made in the United States. A self-contained nation is a prosperous nation. We make what we use. Sorry Hillary Clinton & crook friends

Nuclear power will not be permitted in any state.

Wall Street will be completely renovated and watched very closely. Any person guilty of 'Madoff-type' crime will be put to death by hanging within 24 hours.

I have a feeling we would get along very well! I like your ideas. Mine are very much the same.

I like the idea one of the first posters had about less income. But not based in approval ratings. People are too easily swayed by media. Low pay period - they are public servants - not kings. They also have a lot of power. No need to also make them super rich. I would make the motivation for being a politician about the good they can do - not about how to make oneself stay there to become richer.
So...I would cut my pay and everyone else's in government.

I would scold media for being a bunch of unethical puppets and assign people from the public to keep them fair (people like those on ATS).

I would tell people to wake up - and realize they are going to participate in making things better. I would educate all Americans on how their power has slowly gone from the people to the government. To know what happened is to appreciate the efforts that it will take to get back to where we should be. I would define where the governments role begins and where it ends - so everyone is aware of this.

*I would bring industry back to the States. Imports not to exceed 20% of all goods sold here.
*I would make online real-time voting the way officials are elected - and somehow make it secure.
*If the governments hands are in it - they have to be accountable. To make this happen - better checks and balances - changing out citizens on a regular basis who would do this - everyone in the society must contribute (like jury duty).
* I would like to get completely out of the Middle East but this is a tough one. Would we just say sorry to allies - we have to regroup so figure it out. Or - "if your getting thr crap beat out of you after being attacked we may help but will not be involved for any other reason so keep the peace"? Somehow - disengage from this as much as possible.

*Federal grants to States would change - get that 20 mile stretch of highway construction done in less than 18 years and spend less than we allotted - we will increase the budget for the following year - we don't want to encourage stealing.

I'm sure there is so much more - basically make it less about them and more about the people. It would have to be about honesty as well. Both behaving honestly and promoting honest behavior among citizens and colleagues. I think the best beginning is a reduction in pay to keep them at the same level as those whom they represent.

I'd run the government... straight into the ground. Destroy it and replace it with nothing.

I mean, let's face it--every government the world has ever known has eventually waged war on its neighbors and brutally oppressed its own people. Without exception.

So... why have a government at all? We know how the story ends, and it has never once been happy. It is pure arrogance to believe that "this time we'll get it right". No you won't. Political government is an inherently immoral concept that exists for no other reason than to control the populace through the economic manipulation of resources.

And nothing good is ever going to come from that.

I would run the government like how the framers wanted it to be a constitutional republic. But I would add a amendment for term limits or two terms max. I would also add the death penalty for anyone trying to create a central bank. The treasury must be the only one allowed to print money and congress have to oversee it.

I think those two changes will fix a lot of problems in America.

Anybody see the movie "The Purge"? Not a bad idea if you ask me. I'm only half kidding.....but not really.

Honestly The best thing to do would be fire every politician and start over, if for nothing more than a fresh perspective because the perspective we currently have is getting us nowhere fast.

I would form a government as a Meritocracy very close to what I read in a book written by Robert A. Heinlein.

If you never read his books here is a paper describing how that government ran. LINK

Honestly the book is short and worth the read. It is nothing like the movie as usual.

the book’s notion that a voting franchise must be earned by a
would-be citizen. A franchise is not given to anyone, for any reason, until they have served a term
(defined in the book as two years) in Federal Service.

No one can run for office have a say in government/vote until they have earned that right. If one chooses to earn that right then regardless of ones aptitude they would find you a position. Except if someone is mentally incompetent(extreme case).

It wouldn't be a perfect system but it would be much better than the one today.

I have pondered this question many times. My main platform would be to make democracy mean something everyday in our lives.

In my government, all top level cabinet posts will be made constitutional and positions filled by regular elections. These positions will not be open for partisan political climbers or nepotism or 2nd-generation nepotism.

They will basically be drafted to run the government because they are the best in their fields.

For example, The Secretary of Education will be elected by the people and for the people, 5 year terms. In each individual state the same process will occur. I like nice round terms, like 5 years. Anybody with me?

We, as a nation, would have to decide to go really deep down in searching for the best candidates to nominate. Personally, I can no longer tolerate the Dick Cheney's and Donald Rumsfeld's of this world no matter what country or language. It is the symptom of a lazy democracy which allows these creatures to haunt the halls of MY GOVERNMENT for over 40 years, which is in fact, practically my entire lifetime.

Beyond that there will be strict control against political families and dynasties.

When I read my history books I never wanna see Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton, Roosevelt, Roosevelt, Kennedy, Kennedy, Kennedy, Racketfeller, Racketfeller, Romney, Romney. Don't be deceived by it. They have the blue blood and the USA is not a blue blood country it's all red blood, native blood, far as I am concerned. There is no scientific proof that these families are any smarter or creative than anyone else. We need to be choosing our leaders from a greater gene pool.

Year after year there will be elections. Yearly national elections to fill these important positions with the best people in our country. Secretary of State, Defense, Economy, Health, Natural Resources, etc. Elections rotate so there cannot be a full sweep of old to new government.

All of this is copied at the State and Local level. And that way we can practice democracy every day rather than wait for the next election cycle.

These blue bloods love to fight and maintain their power over generations. My system would wipe them out for good. (lol. I just read what I wrote my frustration with modern government could run for hours and hours....! ))

Democracy does not work.

It is time to try something new.

Time to try randomocracy.

Do we not fill our petit and grand juries with a random selection of registered voters? Why not fill the government positions now up for grabs in an election the SAME WAY?

Advantages:

a cross-section of the citizens running the government

no political parties

no one in office long enough to get corrupted - so, less corruption

fewer rich, fewer lawyers, no professional politicians running the government

a government by the people, of the people, for the people

fewer special interests in government

fewer dual-citizens in government

greater resistance to NWO (and other such) conspiracies

For your consideration I submit the platform of the National Guillotine Party:

1.We regard the persistent corruption, pandering to big business and special interests, lack of transparency, erosion of individual and States’ rights, financial malfeasance, political gamesmanship and utter disregard for The People as wholly unacceptable and un-American.
2.The Constitution of the United States of America together with The Bill of Rights (hereinafter referred to as The Constitution) constitutes the preeminent law of the land and the principles thereof. All holders of public office, public employees, members of the military, contractors thereof, or any entity that accepts Public funds, are legally obligated to uphold, defend and protect same. Any action or attempt to subvert, circumvent, evade or otherwise abrogate The Constitution will be construed as a High Crime against The Nation and The People.
3.ALL People are created equal and therefore all laws and privileges shall be applied equally and consistently without prejudice or deference thereto.
4.Personal liberty and a person’s right to privacy shall not be infringed.
5.Corporations, businesses nor any entity of human construct or design shall be construed as a Person and thereby are not entitled to the rights or protections associated therewith.
6.Holders of public office do so at the pleasure and behest of The People. Consequently, their efforts, decisions and work shall be singularly dedicated to the sustenance, betterment and protection of the collective interests of The People.
7.No holder of public office may have any legal, financial or fiduciary interest, directly or through trusts, family or other proxy, with any entity contracting with The Government. All financial interests shall be disclosed by prospective candidates and vetted prior to qualifying as a candidate.
8.All holders of public office, including judges, are subject to reasonable term limits (two terms where practicable) such limits to be established by public hearings and expert assessments of the available talent pools and requirements of the work. Upon leaving office, no former public official may hold any legal, financial or fiduciary interest,
either directly or through trusts, family or other proxy, for a period of three years nor accept employment, compensated or otherwise, for a period of five years with any entity contracting with The Government.
9.No holder of public office shall have had the status of ‘dual-citizen’.

Starting the day I take power every agency across the board would go on a budget diet. They receive 7 to 10% budget cut for the ensuing fiscal year. I don't care how they make changes within their purview, but they will abide by and live within that budget. The following year, they will receive the same cut to be dealt with in the same way. This will continue until we are living within the means of the budget.

Also, every single entity receiving a budget must appear before the House and justify why they receive said budget annually. This must be done with special attention paid to their place under the COTUS. The House must then take a vote on whether or not that entity continues to operate. If the overseeing entity of said entity is voted down, then said entity also ceases to exist. This would force our elected officials to realize just how overgrown the bureaucracy is and how much of their own authority and responsibility they've allowed to be delegated to unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats. It would also likely cause a sizable trim in the budget.

Also, the House and Senate must go through the Federal regulations line by line to up or down vote every. single. one. after a period of discussion and research into their impacts on the US. This alone could occupy the entirety of both bodies for long enough that they couldn't get up to any more mischief for a good long time.

There's a lot of things I would change, I've made a couple threads detailing some of the changes I would make.

Here's my thoughts on voting and representation

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Not mentioned in the thread but I would similarly reform senators, however they would remain at 2 per state but be changed to represent state interests. I would also create an annual governors convention which would last for x time (2 weeks?) specifically for the states to have an existing framework to convene and debate constitutional amendments.

Again, some thoughts on economics and taxes
www.abovetopsecret.com...

In addition to these changes I would reform our law enforcement system to adopt a style similar to Norway. They have one of the lowest crime rates in the world and virtually no recidivism. Basically I would have the courage to stand up and be painted as soft on crime by opponents in order to pass needed reforms.

I have a lot of thoughts on how to change the education system but nothing concrete yet. There's certain general knowledge everyone should have access to, however depending on chosen field different types of education is needed. One thing I would definitely do is increase the portion of the day devoted to the arts. They're a very integral part of developing critical thinking, and often times teach the same lessons as a boring textbook in another manner that some students better understand. I would split the curriculum 50/50 between federally mandated information everyone needs to know and state/local freedom. Additionally I would increase the school day to 8 hours/day starting in middle school, less focus on homework, and move the school day to 10-6 as young people just don't think or learn as well at 8 in the morning.

The last thing I would do is revisit the concept of rights. I would broaden the constitution to specifically mention a right to privacy. And then I would create a second set of less broad rights for matters between private individuals and corporations to replace the current system of everything being legal with no concept of rights under a contractual agreement.

One more to add to my above ideas... I would add a religion class to schools. This would encompass all belief systems and lack of and would be taught to high schoolers and maybe jr high depending on how much is required to cover the material. Existing teaching over things like Greek mythology would be merged into this class. Thinking back on my religion classes in high school (went to a catholic hs) 1 semester was enough to read the new testament and go over it relatively in depth. If the same standard were applied to each religion that would mean if you started in 7th grade you could hit the 9 most popular belief systems (Christianity, Islam, Hindu, Secular, Buddhism, Judiasm, Confucianism, Taoism, Shinto) with a year and a half to discuss religions that have died out or are less centralized like Native American folklore, African tribalism, Greek, Roman, and so on.

These ideas below wouldn't work the way you think they would.

#2 - Foreign Aid is already spent in the US, all the food and goods we send have to be bought somewhere, they're bought from our corporations. Furthermore when we give these goods to another country we do so in exchange for favorable policies... sometimes corporate expansion, sometimes military capability like rights of passage agreements (not so useful given point #1). This is why we never care when aid doesn't goto those who need it. We're not actually trying to help the worst off. We're buying favor and corporate subsidies. Most of the money stays within our borders. As for how much it costs, we spend $37 billion annually on foreign aid (including military), that works out to about $10/person per month. Having an extra $10 does not help people or boost our economy.

#3 - And replace them with what? You give no specifics here. What agencies need to close and why?

#4 - I take this to mean you're in favor of repealing posse comitatus? That's what you're saying here.

#5 - 1 month or what happens? The government can't find them as it is, issuing a 1 month ultimatum with nothing to follow it up does nothing. Should we say it's legal for citizens to kill them if they're still here in a month? You have to do something and the government doesn't have the resources...

#6 - The gold standard would crash the economy. There's not enough gold in the entire world... no scratch that, if you take all the gold on earth including what isn't yet mined, there's not enough on the planet to back the number of dollars in existence. This would result in a severe contraction of the money supply, as well as prevent the money supply from expanding in the future, which means economic growth is permanently halted.

#7 - Low pay makes people more open to bribes, especially in positions that naturally lead to a person having a high sense of self worth. This would make lobbying a bigger problem than it currently is.

#8 - A 10% flat tax doesn't even cover current defense spending, to say nothing of all the other spending.

#10 - Taking care of the homeless on a local basis tends to result in running them out of town because it's cheaper than spending money. This leads to increased crime, homeless camps, and eventually roaming mobs. Essentially rather than solve the issue it makes it worse.

#11 - This just ensures politicians are kind to corporations in order to take care of their future.

#13 - This makes crime worse. Rather than goto one of those prisons, someone will do everything they can to be certain they don't. That means going down shooting at every cop, killing every witness, and essentially never being taken alive. Then those that do goto prison learn no skills to help them not come back. Is that seriously what you're advocating?

make laws according to the syek (read backwards) of David. Cant give it out on the net...sorry

Put Socialism in action so everyone will be happy. This is an idea that derives from the syek

Manage how much money everyone will be making - quite possibly 40 an hour on any job. This will determine the living conditions and what you are able to get.

Lower the price of everything or if it doesn't need lowering - let it be. I'd take a guess: Take how much you make in 2 weeks and the most expensive thing in the world you could buy would be no more than how much you make in 2 weeks.

I don't know how this would work out because I haven't simulated it yet and I don't think I ever will, but who knows. Theres so much to do with this yek (read backwards) that I could explain and solve anything...literally... except "is there a god" and "what created us"...
