This indeed smacks of a possible attempted assassination attempt.

Add to it, the cancellation of the next evening's dinner when Chilean Security refused the installation of metal detectors.

Has Bush returned to the US?

He needs to leave Chile immediately if he hasn't.

Look at the eyes of this Chilean "Security Officer" as he glares at the President.

But would Chile be stupid enough to assasinate the US president? I highly doubt it, but some Cuban spies could very well have.

I never thought of it as a ambush, I thought it more as the Chilean security wanting to show the flag a bit.

hmmmm....interesting.

Edsinger, we are involved in a global war on terrorism.

Al Quada has been active in South America for a number of years.

Threats to the President could surface in any country, including (obviously)our own.

There is just something about how that guy is looking at GW, almost menacing.

You should say the same thing about your history books, which also claim it. I learned about this in my US history class before I even looked into the documents that I did point out to you. If you wish to further argue about this, you're on your own, I don't have time to argue with a history revisionist.

Or wait, are you Canadian? That might be why you don't understand this.

I'm no history revisionist -- I just don't believe 98% of what people say on this site without real proof. It kinda goes along with the theory that 98% of people are idiots. I'm surprised by your immature response to my challenge for real information versus some indie website. I thought you were a bigger person than that. BTW we're not even close to arguing about this -- you've provided zero credible information to argue about.

Sorry, but I was born and raised in Florida.

WOW,

10 pages on this already? Incredible...And the whole event took seconds.

BTW, Marg and I learned, in another thread, that Chile is home to the largest group of Palestinians, outside of the middle east..Half a million.

Assasination attempt was one of the first things that came to my mind.

A Secret Service Agent out of a job. Any Agent who allows this to happen is a liability to the presidential detail.

That was hilarious... Chretien was always good for a laugh.

The RIGHT thing to do would have been to turn to the Chilean guards and say, "Gentlemen, these men are with me, they are Secret Service", not to get into a physical situation when separated from his Secret Service bodyguards.

I have to agree with Nerdling here....he will definitely get chastized for this by the Secret Service, but then of course, he can fire right back with "Well why did you idiots let them separate us?"

I also have to agree with Ed that this is no big deal.

You can put a spin on this any way you'd like.

If the other world leaders left their secret service behind to attend the already overly secure dinner. Then perhaps George W. Bush was affraid to attend a political social dinner outside of the US without his own security team present.

Does the president suffer from fears of assassination attempts on his life?

Does he shower with secret service present?

I am in no way what so ever a Bush fan....just the opposite as most of you know! However....I am a very fair person...and Bush did exactly what he should of done...certainly what I would of done! Why should he not have his guards with him!? He is not the most loved president ya know....hell yes he needed them with him and handled the situation properly. You can dislike someone and still be fair.....I have to give ol' Dubya a
on that one!

I can't believe that people are discussing this non-event. It's like Puff Diddy walking into the club and one of his entourage isn't admitted for some reason, he'd just tell the security that that guy was with him. Exactly what GWB did.

Is it an act of heroism? No. It's just a common sense thing to do, same as using a hanky to clear you nose.

Next thing I expect to read in the papers "Bush ties laces on his right shoe". Big freaking deal.

This is laughable. If this is the best Bush can do during 4 years as president, reaching over and pulling a man, LOL..then i'd say celebrate and bask in the glory of it all, you've seen the peak of his reign..
I guess i can understand how some of you think this is so great.

Wow I am impressed! Thanks for being so candid, I have newfound respect for you AND your opinions, as this was a good example unlike the others that bought the trap hook line and sinker on dry land! Kudos!

This one I find very FUNNY

I have not posted that many since the election was WON! Most has been on the terrorism topic.....If you only knew that Bush is not my favorite at all but he was much better than the other. But He is still growing on me and when I see you liberals spew your $hit and all, I like him even more.

Kudos to you also.....I needed the laugh.
