Actually he did what was right....or do you prefer what people like Kerry do to the secret service? curse and blame them for Kerry being a dumbass and a goof by crashing into the secret service officer as Kerry was skiing.....

Well here we again with black and white thinking.

If you don't like bush then obviously you must be a kerry supporter

They're both the same thing in my eyes!
But ya gotta admit kerry comes across as a lot smarter than bush.

What bush did was stoopid, regardless of what mine or his political preferences are.

It tells a lot about his personality and his cowboy image. *sigh* The man is not presidential material...

The cowboy image is one evoked by Bush's detractors to make the point that Bush was all bravdo with no substance, to put it nicely. An incident such as this shows that Bush is not paranoid about his personal safety, that he knows the importance of his security staff, and that Bush is in command of the situation at all times.

Those who fault the President over this incident are simply exposing their own blindness and lack of character, but we've seen plenty of evidence of that before.

how dare you said something like that Mr. Bush human? are you out of your mind, you will be struck with the scorn of God himself.

Mr. Bush human,
He is God incarnated edsinger.

This story remind me of a littler girl in second grade she pushed another child, when I confronted her as why she did that she looked at me and very seriously replied, "Because the devil make me"

So imagine that the excuse Mr. Bush will make after being confronted with world crimes he will say "Because God told me"

Don't trash Spongebob. He's my hero and fine actor, to boot. I'm wearing my Spongebob lounging trousers, as I type.

Lounging Trousers?

Heheheh....Awesome.

I'll bet the secret service reprimanded him for this.

:shk: Wow a real moment. I realize that the Kerry should have won crowd cant come to grips with this unscripted non robotic performance that they have come to worship in thier candidates but so be it. Kerry on the otherhand, blueblood that he is, would have ignore the situation then fired the guy later for 'failing"

For acting like a real man and a human.

bush is kerry's cousin, so they're both skull and bones bluebloods, related to the house of windsor. what makes you think this secret service guy won't get fired by bush? you think he was concerned about the bodyguard, or was he concerned that all of a sudden, he was missing one?

this is such a little blip, this event. you'd think he rushed into a burning tower and saved hundreds of lives or something.
oh wait. he was complicit it the downing of towers and the murder of american innocents. i almost forgot, because he's so heroic-like, rushing in to stop the slight delay of that helpless bodyguard..
i bet he has sponge bob jammies, too.
you 'tough guys' crack me up.

Leave Spongebob out of this! And they're lounging trousers, not "jammies."

Believe it or not, I have never seen a Spongebob episode. I became interested in the character because of his ubiquity and some of the parents with whom I used work would tell me about the series. So I did some research on the character and, I must confess, I was quite taken with the concept and Spongebob's indomitable spirit and tireless work ethic. Now that the movie has come out, I can't wait to see it, so that I can have some appreciation for the style of humor so many parents have told me of.

Technically, they are all guests under the jurisdiction of the CHilean government. If they don't want US secret service there...they don't get to be there. Its that simple. Its their country...their rules.

armchair spongebobophile.

i don't think you'd like his socialist attitude.

Pro-social, altruistic ethics are not communist, but I will reserve my opinion until I have seen the film. Bear in mind that I have done considerable research on the creator and the characters, so I doubt much of the message and sentiment is going to be a surprise to me.

Righto, time for my opinion
I, like alot of people, do NOT like bush, HOWEVER, he did do a good thing there, and I am man enough to admit that, even though I like seeing him made out to be foolish and silly, he was very decent and showed that at least in this instance he did actually care about his staff (even if they were there specifically to take a bullet etc if he was shot at).

It's one thing to dislike a person, but it's another to dislike them to the point of stupidity where even if they saved an entire country, you would still ridicule them because they used three squares of toilet paper instead of two when they wiped their bum

I've alway wondered what type of individual bids for the half eaten toast of some 'star' off of Ebay, or why women would damn near kill eack other for some rock star's peiece of clothing that smelled like sweat & ballz........it really blows my mind to now realize, with proof positive, that I've been interacting with these archtypes right here at ATS!

I'll tell you what ed, let Bush do an unscripted, no question limit, no hand picked particiapant News Confrence first, and then we'll tak about him not being chicken#!

I think most of you have missed a big point.
Why was chilean security ttempting to seperate the president from his secret service contingent in the first place. I assume they already had a foreign team indoors waiting for him but how far away?
Think the secnario through, the presdent walks in first as is custom for photo ops (Nothing ruins the image of a man as a strong leader more quickly than having a bodyguard next to him) and then chilean security "close ranks" barring access to his security team. Now had he kept walking and not noticed how far away was the forward team?
Were there any doors in between him and them?
This smells to me like a classic ambush.
Target enters, escape is blocked, help is prevented from entering, target is seperated,.................
Was this an assaninatin attempt that was thwarted by President bush going back for his security team?
Were these "hypothetical ambushers" (yes I know this is a paranoid idea) planning on letting him get further down the hallway before someone jumped out of a doorway and fired?
Was the fact that the entire incindent was being filmed from both angles (inside and outside the building) what prevented it from going forward anyway?
Food for thought.

Your absolutely right and the President would have really been an idiot if he had proceeded without his security. Maybe we should amend the constitution to allow Bush to run for a third time. It is so refreshing to actually have a President with a spine.
