No, it's not about enriching the insurance industry. It's about killing it while making it look as bad as possible. The government is standing so close behind the insurance industry that they're pulling its strings like a marionette. This thing is designed to be government run care without people seeing the government running it. You're supposed to think it's the insurance companies doing everything bad while they're being forced by regulation into an unsustainable business model.

Then, when it collapses, the government steps out and offers single payer and everyone falls all over themselves to take it because they never saw the government pulling the strings.

This bill is fascism. The mechanisms are privately owned, but the control is all government. And don't forget it.

Real health care is quickly going to become a black market service.

All I know is that his premise of "so everyone can have medical care" is a bunch of crap. I need facet injections into my back due to degenerative disc disease. Before he caused my Cigna insurance policy to be canceled in October, all I had to do was make the appointment and pay my $60 co-pay. I've looked at the policies now being offered, and even called Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and this procedure is no longer covered. Well, it's covered, but it has to come out of the $6,500 deductible that I'll have to pay up front. So, now I can no longer get the injections until I have enough money in my pocket to pay for it. Guess pain management isn't a necessary part of life. So here's one person that can't get "the medical care they need" but could before he screwed everything up.

I'm worried about what this will mean for my migraine care. We still have employer coverage for this year, but Armageddon happens next fall.

Elections have consequences...

Give this a couple of years and watch when they pass the "You must prove that you saw your doctor at least twice a year and followed your personal care plan they issued you or else be fined by the IRS." law. At that point, hot button issues like flu vaccines, "Oops, we accidentally sterilized you", and "people on antidepressants forfeit their Second Amendment Rights" will take on a whole new meaning as the government will hold a hand of full of Mandate Aces.

I saw this coming. It will break some doctors and others will just stretch their code of ethics a bit further - justifying it with "it's the law". It's no different to me than the government saying it was okay for psychologists to torture terrorist suspects - who justified this behavior in the name of law (some did; most would/will not).

It's time for physicians to go cash only, and if someone needs a test - advise to make payments to the appropriate hospitals and labs if don't have the funds up front. Sadly - if they choose to go this route their income dwindles so the likelihood of this is questionable.

Someone shows a video clip of opting out above. I thought you could not opt out. ?

Two words.

Single Payer.

Thats what they want- thats what they always wanted.

They are trying their hardest to make this law not work so they can get what they always wanted.

Anybody who is anybody can look at Obamacare and say " this is a cluster **** "
That was the plan all along if you ask me.

If the government really wanted to make a health care program that actually works and benefits the nation as a whole, they could. But thats not what they want, they act like they do, but they are trying as hard as they can for the people to repeal this, that way they can move forward with their single payer system.

I hope you're right. All I wish for this thing is that it's at least temporary. Why does the government think all this has to happen before a single-payer system gets put into place, though?

Obamacare is the height of doublespeak. As someone said it looks like the ministry of health lol could not be closer to the truth. The fact that it was written by insurance companies to consolidate their profits and guarantee that their criminal approach to "medicine" is government mandated. They will do everything they can to keep the American public sick and addicted to drugs, while continuing their attack against the common sense approach of healing that is homeopathic medicine.

This game that is being played out by the elite behind the scenes is getting to the boiling point. This is going to be one of the things that leads to flat out rebellion. The Obama regime is a paper tiger compared to those who truly run this country and are continuing the steady decline to lawlessness in the streets. They will continue to rob from people across the board and will do their best to divide using gimmicks like the latest duck dynasty gaff.

This is going to be a rocky year, however I feel that as they back us into the corner, they will overstep their bounds. At this point there has to be the common understanding that both parties (demonazi's/republifascist's) are corrupt and controlled and need to be held accountable. The division they are pushing will fail, all of their gameplans will fall through and one day we will all be united in our efforts to never let this level of global fascism to exist again. Bear in mind I did say it will be a rocky year, I do not mean to give the illusion that I believe this will happen soon, however it is these kinds of overreaching laws that are placing the needed cracks in the dam!

He lacks empathy and compassion for fellow humanity. He should have to meet each person he will be giving substandard care because he doesn't want doctors taking their oaths so seriously. EACH PERSON - POTUS OBAMA needs to LOOK THEM IN THE EYE and tell them they aren't worth the effort.

I don't see how he can look himself in the mirror every day!! WHY is he still in office??

That would just move us one step closer to what Canada has, so when they finally decide to merge the US and Canada, there will be little in the way of differences in society to keep it from moving forward. Right now, such a move with such different healthcare systems would cause huge problems for a smooth merge.

I hope that is not what they are up to, but I think that possibility has already been discussed here on ATS.

And what really is the long term purpose of merging countries? Imminent disaster? Elite control of the masses? Population control? Food control? Natural resource control?

Just remember - The government that is doing this to you now through the proxy insurance pawns in the name of breaking you and bringing in single payer will be the very same one that would be running every facet of care under the same single payer system. If they are being this mean and vindictive now, what guarantees do any of us have that they won't be this way again once they have single payer and all the power?

Because they couldnt sell the single payer system the first time(because in my opinion- it was too extreme at the time).. but now- it doesnt look as extreme.

Maybe thats why? I dunno- just a guess.

under the ACA... you do not have a doctor patient relationship like in the past

You now have a patient aligned care team who follow a protocol list of :
~ what to say ~
~what to prescribe ~
and the canned PC 'prognosis' for each ailment ~ already hammered out by the central planning committee

this was a follow up post on page #1:

quote of elouina:

You know at one time I belonged to a HMO that would probably be the perfect example of what Obamacare will be.

Yes indeed....its a mandated HMO by govt. who instruct the policy creators just how the care-teams will manage treatments

the doctor is like the job superintendent with little interaction with the patient (perhaps 4 minutes in a 15 minute office visit---otherwise the doctor is doing the quadruple paperwork and necessary signing of papers...
and making sure the care-team is following procedures in the handbook for health care rationing

i still say its health management not health care... you are a subject instead of a patient

My story is very similar to your own. The reason I see the doctor that takes zero insurance is because of the difference in care. I show up to her office. No one is in the waiting room but me. No receptionist no nothing. 60 seconds later she shows up at the door and tells me to come back to her office. She listens to me for as long as I need her to. She writes the prescription and I leave. Best medical care I have ever received in my life. I refuse to go anywhere else.

Recently, a month ago I tried to go to another primary care physician that takes insurance. I sat waiting for 45 minutes. She showed up and downplayed my symptoms. She then recommended I go to two separate specialists and I left with no prescriptions. Guess what she thought I had? An ulcer. YOU CAN"T FRICKEN PRESCRIBE ME SOME EFFING ANTACIDS?!?!

No she wanted me to go to a specialist about my ulcer. It turns out I have some heartburn and I snore. That's it. All she had to do was prescribe me antacids but she downplayed my symptoms said they were nothing and I should go and see a gastrointerologist to rule out an ulcer. What a retard. THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE. THAT'S THE CARE YOU WILL ALL GET. Very soon. Just wait. That's why I fork out cash for my medical care.

I am still mad from my experience with this quack. The standard treatment for an ulcer is 150 mg of Zantac 2 times a day for 3 months. It does not hurt anyone one bit to take this. As an MD you troubleshoot with medication that's why you have a friggen license. You don't do nothing and take peoples money. As long as you aren't making the patient worse you do your effing job.

You can't even get a prescription for Zantac anymore which you can buy at Walmart, God help us all!

Im trying to look at things from a democrats point of view(really scary for me).
Democrats know how bad this law is. If they cant fix the public perception, then they lose the control they have
to introduce new laws.
Democrats dont want to pay for this monstrocity just as much as republicans dont.
Obamacare lost its political usefullness as soon as it went into law. Now it effects everyone- and nobody is happy about it.

Just my take.

Exactly, it will follow much the same model as public education where the children are simply products and the teachers are the lowest human beings in the equation, mere factory floor workers.

We can see where this has gotten us, and health care will be no different and it won't help to make it single payer. The results will be the same.

Yeah I just through out a guesstimate. It is determined by location. That is IF you can get a doctor to take Medicaid. I have a friend on it so I understand. My dad also died on it. He received very poor medical care. They wouldn't even cover dentures after they pulled all of his teeth for heart surgery.

My whole point is you force ALL doctors to take this and its going to be chaos. It will look like Canada with 3 to 4 hour wait times. Or 6 hours where you are. Although it might get shorter for you if other doctors are required to take your insurance. Or it could get worse if doctors stop taking insurance or close up shop.

I just see a serious problem coming down the pipeline because this is where we are headed.
