Yes, indeed.

It still requires a number of assumptions to arrive at the conclusion that life evolved beyond very primitive forms on Mars...without evidence...other than underground entrances to aboveground tunnels.

See, it was a joke.
"Underground tunnel" as opposed to what?
Or, you could also see it as the entrance to the tunnel being underground.

Get it?

Ahhh I GET IT!! YES! I am so slow!

BTW on the matter of assumptions, we all make them, but I actually like them so i make more.

I like this, it sounds as though the scientists are not sure of much either.

The new findings raise intriguing questions about the possibility of liquid water on present-day Mars, which has ties to the ongoing search for life on the Red Planet.

"It's certainly very surprising to me that this is happening on Mars today," McEwen said. "If it is water, that really changes our thinking of the planet's water cycle and habitability."

Wow, thanks... so cool you did this for us. Also posting so I can easily find this thread again.

Forgive me if someone has mentioned it already, but did you see that pic in a recent thread that looked like an Egyptian statue-head?

Yes, I've seen it and think it was first spotted by BlackCat13 and visualized by funBox in this post before an entire thread came up on this topic.

It's one of the best face illusions I've seen up to this point, whereas IMO it's probably just a play of lights & shadows, especially since we only got that one pic & no other perspectives showing the same 'statue' under different lighting conditions ... but it does resemble a face when seen from that perspective.

Yeah. Very briney water. That shows up in the summer near the equator. If that's what it really is, it seems that there could be ice under the surface. And that does present the possibility of life in that ice. Though it would be slow life and I don't think it would make statues, it would probably be tiny. Like, really tiny. Like the bacteria found in ice in Antarctica perhaps.

I don't think so, there's no sign of undisturbed darker soil.

hopefully we'll know more when the next pictures come through, usually any operations done by the arm are photographed, or so it seems to me , unless nasa is now using it as a primitive club to move rocks out of the way

Wow, interesting indeed! Looks like a 'flower-rock' if there were such a thing. Also (and I'm sure its been discussed at length) but the big rock to the left of it is quite interesting, with its 'layered' triangle look. Not sure why it makes me think of the Star Trek emblem on their uniforms...

Thank you, I agree totally... impossible to prove yay or nay so natural to err on the side of 'caution' and see it as trick-of-the-light. One other thing... in the middle of that same pic is a straight-cut looking rock, and several surrounding pieces, that in my mind could be part of the base of a statue. Then again, I do have an illustrious imagination!

Buzz, welcome back. We thought we lost you out there in the wilderness, and that you may have ridden a Martian Yorke up to Mount Sharp for a lookaround. On your newest pics the one I focus on is the spoke ("go with what you know" is my motto, which is why I still drink out of sippy cups and put my left shoe on my right foot), seemingly with a rim. But the distance from the camera is again a factor, so maybe these spokes are nonunique image artificats, people with a better grasp of pic analysis than my own can set me wrong at some point:

files.abovetopsecret.com...

Nice to see you here Phage, to keep funbox and Carla-Lee honest and working for the good of Man (and by Man I mean Martians). To be serious though, nobody here is seeing statues and temples, that's on the other thread. Here we know that the Egyptian face (discovered first on this thread btw) is a perspective image made up of three or four rocks.

The river scene, and river speculation, is interesting and worth a sit-back to observe.

funbox, I told you the check for your services is on that slow boat, from China, and even though my gps tracking tells me it still is in its dock in the Chinese harbor, your check is aboard and gathering dust. Patience, sir, patience.

The square rocks formations are kind of fun, geometrically, but seem to be regular cracking of the rocks on Mars - squares are the new unilliminati triangles.
