Just downloaded GIMP and learning how to use it. Hopefully I can come up with something decent looking but Im no pro

Templar will hook you up, he's really good at seeing what one wants and putting it into an avi A.K.A. background

For GIMP help, Druid started a thread here
Don't let it intimidate you....it just takes time to get use to all the various functions

It's a spin off from Photoshop and most of the brushes etc. are compatible for Gimp

I usually wear Ciara or Shalimar, which doesn't trigger my honey's happy go lucky nose that usually goes on a sneezing fit around certain cologne

Thanks for that link. I've found a few good tutorials via youtube on layering multiple images. Watching someone use the program helps loads.

Whoa that came out wonderfully! Pretty much what I was looking to create myself although I had problems with sizing. I am indebted to you kind sir.

The signature line image I had an idea with. Actually had the white face saved along with a red torii but I couldn't even find a simple paint like program on my mac to put them together. Luckily I found GIMP so I can play around with some ideas. Also working on my BBcoding.

What you need to do now is upload the image as a background.

First copy and paste this image into the avatar line under account.

h ttp://files.abovetopsecret.com/files/img/bd52298d54.gif

Just remove the space between the h and the t at the start and hit submit.

When you click on the avatar, click on the little window like this;


That will give you the full spread background.

The whole avatar creations concept was first done up by a banned member. They used to go to the Introductions threads and welcome new members, recommending they come by. It did work quite well.

So wouldn't it be a good idea to have a link to this thread somewhere in the Introductions forum?
Or some type of banner?

I have come across so many members complimenting me on my avatar before I started visiting this thread...I'm sure a lot more people would come if they knew about this thread.

i tend to be kind of abrasive at times, so don't think I would make a good public rep for our group here. But a quick pass through might help drum up interest. Don't know how many new members join, but every few days might help.
