Approached for a TV documentary from ATS post I made...

LOL.... Hmmm maybe I shouldn't laugh, but I was thinking similar thoughts.

It all seems a bit sus (suspicious) because of how Purplemer was tracked down. Maybe the NSA don't have a current photo and needed to put a face to the name, and the TV Doco was the carrot which lured Purplmer out of the burrow.

I feel as if I've been personally interacted with by under-cover authorities, and the reasons are for posts I put on ATS.
Alien threads are my favourite. I believe I am a contactee.

But I have no doubt all of us on this site have got special records set aside at Meta-Data Central, and if they don't have photo ID's on us, they use a different tact to obtain them.

Which brings me to my next question, What was the thread that Purplemer started which gained their attention? I know it's probably been asked 100 times already, but I'm too lazy to sort through all the posts.

Always, always check out the production company on IMDB to see if they are legitimate and have actually produced something.

Small time producers will sometimes claim association with a Name Cable channel to inspire confidence in their project.

Never sign a contract until your attorney looks it over. And don't fall for the old "associate producer" BS they may try and pull.

Something about the way the contact was made seems fishy!!
I'm a producer of New Media content and sorry to say some of my contemporaries are real scam artist in trying to get investors in projects that will never be made.

I wouldnt be overly excited. You have to be really careful. A lot of "fakes" and unscrupulous people out there. And I agree with a previous poster who asked you why didnt they just open an account to contact you?

And, IF they were really interested in contacting you...the way easiest to them....and a method common in this business...is to reach out to ATS mods and assure them they have a valid offer for a member. They then would ask ATS to contact you FOR them...so as not to disclose any personal info on you. And Im sure ATS Admins would be glad to have helped in that way.

As soon as I read your thread title...I was suspicious at your excitement. Remember...they shouldve prob went thru channels at ATS to reach you...as ATS has rules about using stuff youve said here on-a-post. They did not.

And anyone can make a fake letter-head-logo saying they are a television production company. There are many scams of this type out there.

Just be careful...and see if even they COULD use something you said on ATS as it may or may not be against ATS rules on "USING OUR CONTENT"...ie: YOURS posting on THEIRS is now THEIRS I think!!

Just a word of warning. A friend of mine who knows my area extremely well was asked to do much the same as you. He went along and stood in front of the camera's expecting to be asked questions and being allowed to answer them.
Every time he answered they asked him to say it in a different way. They were not happy unless he was prepared to exaggerate and lie!
He eventualy told them to stuff it and told them he'd want blood if they used anything he'd said.

I hope its not the same for you, but be ready.

I've done a few Discovery Network shows because of ATS, they aren't really worth the effort beyond having your family see you on "TV". They have very little reach and even less budget.

That said, they never ever asked me to answer anything in any way different than what I wanted to say. They don't care what you say as long as it draws attention. Really they don't.

There are plenty of reasons for people not to be on IMDB or their details to be incorrect. Being on IMDB with a lot of credits doesn't always mean trustworthy.

I understand the 'associate producer' trick, but even a lot of regular television shows where I'm at don't have the cash to pay everyone or get lawyers to look over every contract. I've seen network shows not even bother with release forms here. Getting a lawyer to look at the release is just a waste of $200 no?

Suppose all am saying is that its easy to get paranoid and overly concerned around disorganized television producers, and it just makes everyone's job harder. Unless you have a massive liability or commercial interest in what's being filmed and the power to sway it, getting lawyers involved in small documentary pieces is just going to come across as self key noting.

Just ask yourself if you mind wasting a day talking to a camera knowing full well you might get put on the cutting room floor.

It was after I had made a thread about the weird and so far unexplainable light beam we saw at the beginning of October. That this guy replied to my thread..

I hadn't realised he had posted on my thread til not long ago. I have not been on ATS for awhile as been busy...! So Purplemer replied to him. He had asked if we could email him. But I think we both just kinda forgot about it. Til our neighbour came over asking about Purplemer. Talk about random out of the blue and a little creepy...!

I am kinda in two minds as to whether I will be a part of his documentary.. I do not really like the idea of being on TV to tell the truth...

But we will see I might change my mind...! Definitely would be up for a trip to the Flannan Isles for sure..! I see them everyday and always wonder what they look like up close and personal..!

Discovery really follows a lot of leads, it's almost kind of funny. I had one of their producers email me about a YouTube video before. They wanted the original uncompressed video, but by then the only version I had was what was uploaded to YouTube. (I tend to free up my disk space and memory cards after being done with something, particularly when not expecting anything more of it.) Not anything "mysterious" though, just wanted permission to use a short clip of footage for some show like "Destroyed in Seconds" as it relates to the derecho storm front that moved through my area in 2011. The guy pestered me about it for a while too, as my "go ahead and use the YouTube footage, just mention my name in credits" apparently wasn't good enough.

But for a mysterious topic type show, they'll probably want you to hype it up like that other guy on this thread said. Obviously they're looking for somebody local to help hype a story they're interested in. Who knows, maybe you'll get to meet Giorgio A. Tsoukalos in person.
