If I was wrong in that final moment it would not change a thing. Sure it would prove that god exists in a specific way, but I still would not roll over like a dog and let him rub my belly. Any conscious god that has allowed the type of atrocities to happen in this world that seem to happen on a daily routine is not holy, but sadistic. IMHO Fuk him! I will live life on my terms and accept the consiquences of my actions.

So who is taking the bus to hell with me!

Mind if I sat next to ya?...

If the biblical god exists I am headed for hell fer sure. Oh well. I'd rather be in hell than worship the biblical god anyways...

So here is a thought for you. If Satan was punished with being the keeper of hell because he attempted to rebel then doesn't it stand to reason that he could rebel again. Perhaps hell is the opposite of all things 'holy'. Perhaps hell is one big glutonous party with lots of sex.

I'll buy the first round!

Lemmie see. Angelic, cutesy, innocent girls with harps. Or demonic, hot, leather-clad, devil chicks with horns. Ummm...I choose the latter...

yeah, why wouldn't hell be a party? it would be a big slap in the face to god if satan or lucifer or whatever made those in hell happier than those in heaven.

just imagine free beer and drugs, of which you could never overdose on, and nonstop deathmetal.

This is a very interesting point.

So many christians seem to miss the translation of John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

They seem to think that God is the Word. This is a fallacy and perhaps the greatest downfall of the Laocidean church age that we are currently in.

In John 5:39-5:40 Jesus says:
You search the Scriptures because you believe they give you eternal life. But the scriptures point to me! (40) Yet you refuse to come to me so that I can give you this eternal life.

As a culture, we have lost our relationship with Christ. We seem to be so fixated on these words in the Bible that we have forgotten that you can see Christ in so many other places. In the rain, in the sun, in the complexity and simplicity of your own self. We have forgotten that you can memorize every word of the Bible and not really know Christ.

That being said, I think that it is important for any person truly seeking a relationship with God to filter and fiber as much information as they have available. Read the apocrypha for yourself, read the teachings of Saint Issa and Muhammad. Interact with the world around you.. I believe even with the theories that the Bible has been tampered with, God still rings through, like in the words of Paul:

For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law to themselves, in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness, and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them, on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus. (Romans 2:14-16)

Our conscience speaks of the existance of God. Our primal instincts. Regardless of what you call God, I think that alot of the message is still the same. No amount of tampering with the words in the Bible can change that. No amount of societal psychology in memes and obfuscation can change that.

I think that the greatest disservice that we can do to ourselves, however.. is thinking that we know it all. Being so set in our beliefs, whatever they are, that we feel our own divinity. We are imperfect beings constantly striving for perfection and in thousands of years, we sure havent managed it yet.. so it is my personal concession... to realize that I fall short.

I think the greatest sin is pride. Therefore, in answer to the question - "What would you say or do if you found that in which you so strongly believe was so corrupted by the greedy little hands of men for so long that the truth was totally obfuscated?"
- I would say.. "Of course. We are not perfect in our word or deed" and I would smile.

I dont believe in god now, and I doubt my feelings would change if judgement came around tommorrow. Its crap how people will suddenly change their minds when it suits them better.. Not saying I might change my mind some day.

I do believe in God, a Supremebe Being and I don't have much use for religions. Since I think Jesus is a product of religion, I guess I'll take my chances.

Being a good person should count more than who or what you believe in

What if the whole torture thing is false and is just a form of control to get people to want to do 'good' deeds in order to get into heaven. What if Satan rebeled again since the bible was written and he turned the place into a paradise?

Personally heaven sounds really boring to me. Things mean more when you have to work for them.

So you think that the Bible says no work will be done in Heaven?

To tell you the truth, I don't remember what the bible says about it. Do you have a quote?

Every time I hear someone talking about heaven it is as if it is a paradise and I see that as not working.

I believe there is something, a higher being a bunch of aliens, no idea.
But the hell thing, seems right though, why would satan (or whatever he likes to call himself), the ultimate sinner, make other 'sinners' go through endless torture? Why would he obey god and do him a favor? Surely Hell is one big whip slashing party central?

And what exactly happened to God giving power to Satan for 2000 years then taking it back at the turn of the millenium? What exactly is the excuse for that one?

Wherever I end up, I have been a good honest person, not perfect, but then again, no one is, NO ONE!
So therefore I believe I will end up in a good place if all the Christianity stuff is true (which of course, can't be, because the bible likes to contridict itself...alot)

In answer to the original question, I guess my reaction would be, "Oh, well!" and then I'd ask why there is no contemporary historical evidence that Jesus existed.

Do you think the job of love isnt work? Love takes true knowledge and alot of work.. Both of which could keep me busy for the next millenium, just with my partner. Not to mention all that love Im supposed to have for my neighbors

OK, without giving me anything based on faith, which is only proof to those who share that faith, how do you truly know that you are not wrong about Jesus and that he is real? I'm just playing the devil's advocate here, so go along with it if you don't mind.

I had just asked the same question today. This debate could go in circles forever. I think Jesus was a great man but no son of God. He may have been a hybrid.

What if God is just all knowledge? Knowledge is everywhere and out of body. It's just kinda "floating" around for any one to grab a piece of.

I would say........

Hey God/Jesus wait a minute here.

You know everything that will happen in advance, you knew I would be a non believer so why create me at all or do you like to see people suffer for no apparent reason? That is damn cruel, not to mention stupid.

I'd still say, "You mean he's not gay?"
