So did the people elect him because they agreed with his policies... or because of his skin color? If it was the former, his skin color shouldn't matter. If it was the latter, they are all racist.

I don't see what the issue is. You target advertising to your audence and he did just that. Makes perfect sense to me. Now what difference does it make if the message is believed

Yeah really. Apparently his opponent couldn't run one commercial or print ad with this guy's picture on it?

There is a lot of hidden racism in this thread. Hiding under the cover as "funny".

Now its clear why OP hates Obama, this thread just proves it!

I can't help but think that this might be the best thing for that district. With so many people worried about what he will do on the board there will be extra scrutiny by parents and clergy. This will also cause the whole board to be scrutinized more closely. Less chance for scandal. Everyone on the Houston school board will have to be more careful and aware of their constituents needs.

To me this is not a black vs white issue. This is more an issue of little information being provided by the media on a minuscule elected position. I am white and a lot of times do not know the positions of those who run for the school board nor do I know the candidates ethnicities'. This is again a lack of knowledge being supplied by the local media.

Most people voted for him because they saw his name on a flyer. If this was really that big of an issue; the opponent should have contacted the media and the media should have done an expose on the candidate. From what little I have gathered; this man has done these type of maneuvers before. The people should have had some inkling about who this guy was before they voted.

Your slip is showing. There is no need for me to even defend such filth. Hateful filth that is the epitome of your claims against others and keeps racism alive today.

Typically I would consider your sentiments to be a little strong for my liking. In this case, however, you are spot on.

Calling others a "closet racist" is just a low blow meant to skirt whatever issue is at hand.

The incumbent, the person Dave Wilson was running against, was a black man. You're also assuming that anyone actually knew who either of the people in the race were, let alone was cognizant of their races. It was a spot on the community college board of trustees, I'd be willing to be most of them had no idea who either of them were or what they're race was. What sort of mental contortions are necessary to arrive at the conclusion that this is evidence of "racist voting practices?"

thanks for bringing light to this story..

these people aren't going to listen to you..they've found a chance to attack, and thats what they gon do!!!
but good stuff anyway

Why would this surprise anyone, when Obama ran record numbers of African Americans, some of which had never voted their whole damn life turned up by the droves to get him in.

This kind of dynamic is more blatant in modern south africa where you can see it every day....thats why 1/4 of white south Africans have left the country.

Are you oblivious to the irony in your statement or was it by design? This thread is chock full of people labeling an entire district of voters racists, here's a sample from the first couple pages:

The low information voter got exactly what they deserved. Maybe voting for a Race instead of a person isn't the best choice after all.

84 stars?

I think it is funny as hell.

A white, ultra-conservative man used racial profiling to his advantage.

89 stars?

I don't think it was wrong. We live in a very racist country, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do I guess. I wonder if they even care about his politics.

16 stars?

AHAHAHAHAHAHA! Hypocrites got a taste of their own medicine.

16 stars?

It's hilarious is what it is. Just goes to show how stupid people are. I'm glad he did it. 100% awesome.

And that's the story of how Obama got elected.

12 stars?

This guy is genius imo , he proves blacks are racist and uses their racism to win then gets to troll

That genius has the largest troll face ever at the moment

9 stars?

The guy he was running against is a black man. How in the world can this be construed as pointing out racism on the part of the voters?

All you need to do is answer that question for yourself and decide if any of the above quotes still make any sense. Now ask yourself who the people guilty of falsely accusing others of racism actually are.

What do you expect from a site with major users are republicans? lol.

Stars and Flags are worth something in Science and Space exploration forums but I don't count stars when it comes to politics, its simply biased.

After seeing tones and tonnes of Anti-Obama thread, i was simply assuming you hate him on a politics level, which i was completely OK with. But damn, some of you republicans do promote the racist stereotype(inb4 im not a repub).

But Obvious race bait thread is obvious.

If the supporters can't tell a difference between a race bait thread that is labeling an entire race as racist and a "funny" thread..man i got a lesson to teach ya'll about a ignorance.

Wait, what? Apartheid in South Africa ended in the 90s. You want us to fault people who have been systemically oppressed until just recently for not voting for the members of the group that was oppressing them?

Thanks for saying that. Take a look people--this is just the most extreme form of the kind of nonsense that is going on in this thread.

OK, he is being called racist because he "tricked people into thinking he was black"?

But the people that are upset that he isn't black (when they thought he was when they voted for him) are just being misused and mistreated?

And this demonstrates that republicans are racist how?

All I see once again is a huge fail from democrats, and once again blaming the republicans for that failure.

When Obama said "raising the debt ceiling is a sign of leadership failure" and voted against it, you people cheered him for standing his ground.

When a republican says "we are broke so we can't borrow more" and votes against the raise, he is a racist.

Yea, no bias or political fail there at all.

Read this quote again, Kaiode:
[LBJ quote posted by Carreau] "I'll have those ******* voting Democratic for the next 200 years." -- Lyndon B. Johnson to two governors on Air
To any who are not familiar with this quote, he used the 'n-word,' and the discussion involved expanding welfare/public housing.

You are still missing the valid, pertinent point made by FromAbove and Carreau.

Public perception of history has been warped over recent decades, in most cases to the benefit of the Democrat Party. Presidents such as Lyndon B. Johnson(D) and Abraham Lincoln(R) are held up as civil rights leaders. This, despite the infamous LBJ quote above, and despite that Lincoln's real priority was to preserve the Union above all else:

"If I could save the Union without freeing any slave, I would do it." - Abraham Lincoln in a letter to Horace Greely

Kaiode, stop being so arrogantly ignorant and the truth may reveal itself to you. You may come to regret allowing yourself to be used.

Although not what blood thirsty racists are looking for, here is is exactly what happened and is certainly believable. While searching for a certain video on YouTube, you guessed it, it was about Obama, I realized the video dude (ethnic man BTW) had a website. So I stopped by to look at it really quick, never even bookmarked it and had a good laugh at the new found video. (I guess I like his videos and not his website.) So I posted it here. Totally opposite to what paranoid racists minds expect or want to hear, huh?

And do you know what my primary objective was while looking for that original video that accidentally led me to this one? I was sharing that too little viewed original video with the press repeatedly since they were not aware if it. Thanks to me and maybe even others the news took notice of the original video and busted Obama big time. Do you think I waste all my time whining here? No, I try to make a difference. And informing at ATS is only a small part of what I do. By the way, the video that I was looking for is listed in a thread in my signature.

So, this video in this thread was a quick, funny, distraction to me and nothing more. I really shouldn't even have to be explaining this. I am actually quite furious that I even felt compelled to explain myself to a troll.

So who is baiting who? I had my laugh and moved on, while others are still stuck with their heads up their butts.
