Actually, what's hilarious is the stupidity shown in this thread. How do we know that the people voted for him because they thought he was black? How do we know that these voters were even uninformed about his race? Maybe they knew he was white, but voted for him anyways. There are a number of assumptions you have to make about black people's voting behavior to find anything to laugh at here.
Having said that, many people vote while being utterly ignorant about the person they are voting for. Too many, in fact.

I was wondering about this. If one claims that black voters voted for him because he portrayed himself as black do you become racist for claiming that black people only vote for black people?

Somewhere in this story is a large serving of irony.....

Ok now if this doesn't count as Political madness, I don't know what will.
Although what this man did is deceptively dishonest, you can't help but chuckle. I mean come on... Dave Wilson figured on his winning as being a long shot. What he did is use African American actors for his ads. And also added in an endorsement that read, "endorsed by Ron Wilson". No not Ron Wilson the African American state representative, but Dave's cousin, Ron Wilson. He did place a small disclaimer on the bottom of the ads mentioning that Ron Wilson was his cousin.

So I know there will be some varying opinions on this. So what do you think, was this man wrong to represent himself as being black? Although he never really did say that he was black. Or were the people that choose elected representatives by race fair game? Think about it, it was his principles that won the election. And he would have likely lost the election had they known he was white. Me? I am on the fence on this one due to integrity issues, but it is still darn funny.

This comes from generations of blacks being trained to vote a certain way without a thought. This is why the democrat party can depend upon the black vote.

What? Nice history fail. You do realize that it wasn't until the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that segregation was ended in this country? That was 49 years ago. Then the following year, the Voting Rights Act of 1965 finally put an end to most of the direct disenfranchisement tactics that had been used for almost 100 years against minority and poor white voters, particularly in the south.

here's a nice summary of these tactics

Hilarious and sad at the same time. And some people say we should have mandatory voting.

Race business still going strong I see? Everyone else had their laugh and moved on. No wonder there is so much hatred between the races. Did you see both the white and black newscasters laughing? Because it was was funny. Pure unadulterated Political Madness. No need to analyze every last word.

Yet another reason to join Russell Brand in not voting again ever.

What a moronic argument...

Evidently, some people vote based on race, so to counter this I am not going to vote at all, which will give their vote even more weight, rather than vote myself based upon an informed decision and thereby give their vote less power.

Right, you do that...

Sure they would not have!
Are you even questioning that seriously?

No, lol, that's exactly my point. In trying to paint this guy as Mr Evil-Racist, 'theantediluvian' exposed the complete and total tolerance we have for racism coming the other direction.

I mean WHY could he have NOT gotten elected?? Because he's white??? That's sad.

It's high time the west faces the truth, multiculturalism just DOESN'T WORK. At our sub-concious instinctive levels we are all still the tribal humans of 10,000BC. It's not racism, it's simply an evolutionary fear of outside tribes. No matter the social conditioning, it's in our genes, like birds flying south!

Oh the irony of the whole situation. I love it.

So, with the face of the candidate being black, but with a conservative message, he wins.

This is the crux of the matter.

And anyone who does anything because Russell Brand says so really needs to rethink their options. He's a giant fake.

This kind of thing has been done many times before... not for election purposes though.... for employment! back in the 80's it was black guys disguised as white and white guys disguised as black... the trial was to see who was given a job and who weren't...

Jesus christ, you people on this website are ridiculous. You try to be clever, but you're not. With your very poorly veiled racism you're just as ignorant and racist as ever. So if you want to make generalizations, then let's make em. Republicans can count on the white vote since (as we all know) all white people hate gays, minorities, and poor people. You really should try to have a conversation with a black person one day, I promise you won't get shot, or robbed. Despite what you've been taught about us.

THis is the greatest story in American politics in the last 50 years. I love it.

Yes. He baited those racist bastards who only vote based on skin color, then he stuck it in their eye. I hope they are all pissed. Serves them right.

ETA: I LOL at the morons on this thread who are calling each other names. Morons. LOL

What a moronic argument...

Not quite as moronic as thinking I wrote my entire thought process on politics in a single sentence, but I do plan on meeting your considerably lofty example sometime in the next 12 months.

If you want my full opinion on politics and reasons for not voting, or just have a question then please politely ask.

If you want to stroke your own ego and feel superior, carry on because I imagine you're doing a fine job, but frankly you're not going to change a single mind or contribute a single constructive thing swinging your ego around your head like a lasso.

Are you too stupid to recognize sarcasm when you see it? I merely used that generalization as an example to show how ignorant the other dude was being. I wasn't actually saying all republicans are racist. You do realize that right?
