I've never met one Canadian who would agree with this as a good idea, (Hell, Quebec doesn't even want to be part of Canada, let alone give itself up to a whole other country)…

If this happened, it would be one of the most disturbing sell outs by political leaders in the history of Sovereign states. A speaking of Sovereignty, doesn't Canada still pelage allegiance to the Crown?

In reality, we don't allow our leaders to just anything. That would treason and jail time for them. Any documents trying to sell out our nation would be considered crimes with signature admissions of guilt, not a done deal.

Queen Elizabeth II would probably use the same expression of her great grandmother Queen Victoria.

"I am not amused "

I definitely don't want this to happen. However, if it does, I doubt Canada can do anything about it.
I like Canadians, but I don't think they deserve to be annexed.
I wonder what Ricky, Julian, and Bubs would have to say...

Wasn't there a plan to buy airspace and fresh waterways from Canada? I read it somewhere, but for the life of me, I can't find the news article. Anyways, is this the start of the merger?

All I can say is hell no.

Will let these two say it for me (us) lol:

On a more serious note, Pierre Trudeau warned us about this in 1978, in his White Papers speech.

Why does a "one world government" automatically mean the loss of individual freedoms? I have a hard time believing there are people out there who's goal is to make planet Earth worse than it already is.

I can imagine a one world government who's values and core beliefs are based on our very own constitution and the constitutions of a bunch of other countries. We would take the best parts from a bunch of political systems.

We're all human, and as international trade and our technology continues to advance; borders will dissolve on their own. The Earth is pretty special, we haven't found another one -- we're all on this boat together.

Personally, if it ever could be achieved...sign me up to live in Star Trek land.

That's well and good if you take out the Big Brother, big business, loss of individual freedom out of it. Star Trek was always blathering about how money was long since abolished on Earth, how everyone was so much more evolved then that. Then every week they were getting kidnapped by aliens who wanted to trade them or their ship for gold pressed latinum. Something was a little stinky with Roddenberry's idea of utopia.

Not to mention how they were so disgusted by "people putting chemicals in their body at high levels, in the 20th century." but then, they all sure liked Andorian Ale, dinn they? "What's Tequila?" Yeah, cause in a couple hundred years no one will remember what Tequila is…

The United States presently can't deal with trying to help its' least fortunate get access to affordable health care.

That's because this is all a dog-n-pony show to keep our totally brainwashed masses occupied. The US is not concerned with healthcare.

They are concerned with killing the least fortunate in the middle east and Africa and setting up a blood-feud to deliver never-ending war. They are concerned with optimizing drug smuggling routes from Afghanistan and South America to consumer nations. They are concerned with trading worthless fiat currency for real, hard assets and spreading the wealth to their buddies.

Most of all, TPTB in America are concerned with killing ...... America. The question becomes, will America go silently into the night, or will she push off the ropes and land some solid blows on the bad guys (and girls)?

The US government cannot even manage the US, and we're to believe they want to annex Canada?

It'll never work. Canada is VERY different from the US.
We only seem the same to the Americans that don't know us.
Healthcare, metric, French, parliamentary system of politics, better beer, etc

I also doubt the Queen would give up one of her favourite (and largest) land masses to a country that's sinking as fast as the states.

Not going to happen.

Hate to break it to the canucks who have it good at the moment....

You can make all wild claims, like "over my dead body" but this WILL happen AND just like what goes on in the States so slowly there isn't a damn thing you can do about it...

I'm not talking after the next elections, over the next...oh I'd venture 40 years and IF they want it to happen faster, there will be something that mandates it like war...

Truth is... none of you even matter in this, in 40 years your voices will be gone/diminished and you need to look at the demographics of the future not what you THINK should be the case...

1: treaties that are slowly vaporizing the ability to even tell the difference between the 2 nations happen every few years, one of the biggies will be a necessitated water deal sometime in our lifetime

2: Canada can resist US pressure about only as long as the US allows it to, 40 million people North 300 + million South and you are completely and absolutely dependent on us in case of war... Yes I can hear the giant scoff from up North but be realistic, there is only so far Canada can go in allowing ties with the USA to diminish, all the liberality you have like health care...dependent entirely on the US war machine, China needs a place to expand and your empty

3: back to demographics

The truth, you current canucks will be a minority by then... the reality china and India in fact have already invaded, NO, not with Tanks, with people... the Chinese call it "Peoples War" and with 2.6 Billion Chinese and Indians we don't even have a chance against the tide let alone Canada... what will be the capacity for the Canadian tune to change? A MASSIVE ASIAN populace that thinks about money not keeping a pristine wilderness intact...

Think I'm wrong? In both America and Canada Asians are the number one growing ethnic group, even in Mexico they come like a storm, while idiot Americans watch the border of mexico the TRUTH is, hardly any come anymore... more are going home because we are in a # state of affairs...

But on the West Coast... Asians, 20 locations around San Fran are 20% Asian by demographic at least 4 are over 50% and Doctors will tell you they are loading up houses and birthing them in... Just 2 months ago a very wealthy area of LA became demographically Asian... And that's the USA

How about Hongcouver, you can't even tell looking at a Photograph it isn't part of Asia but rather North America...

Let's not forget the economic zones the chinese govt is setting up...they aren't screwing around, you could claim this is immigration to major cities and always the case, but no... Chinese run locations in America include Part of Idaho and Northern Michigan and every home in detroit is being bought by a chinese person post bankruptcy for pennies...

But it doesn't stop with immigration and trade...

No one is dumb here right? We ALL know Fukushima is bad news right, when 10 Million Japanese show up eventually who else will take them but us and Canada, what will we do as Westerners say NO? You know we can't right?....

How about Taiwan? And South Korea? This is Ats right? We are aware here that the US govt sooner or later is in deep doo doo economically, that our off shore ability to project power will one day be unaffordable, there will be no more choice than when the Soviet Union fell to "let go" of some interests....

So when China takes taiwan back, does so with the tech they stole from us, and every taiwanese kid that can get on a boat arrives and ditto for when lil Kim starts thrusting his Dong into South Korea, both our countries are going to absorb a lot of freakin Asians...

Sorry but this is predictable stuff... Canada ALREADY has a larger percentage of Asians than we have Blacks and we have a Black president... and Unlike our Blacks (no offense intended here) Asians make a lot of god damned money...

The next wave is Asian... PERIOD, so is the MONEY

Right now Asian Immigration to America is higher than Mexican Immigration ever was and Canada has larger numbers and a smaller population...

So when this vote comes...

After years and even Decades of chiseling the boundaries away...

The Voters will be from an America that is 30% - 40% Asian and a Canada that might top 50% - 60% and every God damn company lobbying for it will be Chinese owned... in 40-50 years, if not sooner...

20% of Canada is no immigrant, 1 in 5 and we all know they have more babies than established Natives... and that's not including the 4% actual natives who are for all intents and purposes...Asiatic of origin, 60% of those immigrants are Asian, not including those from India as part of Asia...

This PRE USA collapse from the region and God knows how many that will arrive as Chinese power slowly flexes over the coming decades...

How do I know the trend will continue... Canada has the land, it's only 500,000 for an Entrepreneurs Visa, which for all Intents and purposes is the way to "buy in" anywhere you want, the Chinese have the Money as will Taiwanese, Japanese and south koreans fleeing china..and disasters and what have you... Lowly Americans like me can't afford that lol... but they sure can. They have programs to sponsor it...

So again...

When this vote comes, it wont be Us Muricans you dislike so much, nor you rednecks up North doing the voting... it will be the 7 children of your philipino neighbor and others.... with Chinese Lobbyists in your Governments pushing it and things of such a nature...

It will happen, you will be the crazy old white guy with a shotgun keeping all the little Asians off your Lawn when it does...

A very plausible scenario, but where did you fit our Monarchy into that? As Canadians of European descent,we happily and financially allow the Queen to still basically rule. Asians would not do the same. Going to have them overthrow all British rule?

Well I'll bite. I thought this thread was about joining our countries into one but you took it into a possible future scenario with China taking over as the worlds super power. There is little doubt concerning China's ambitions. There is a military conflict coming. I am not a war monger but I see no other way to preserve the free world from communist China. Since China's admission in 2001 into the WTO (World Trade Organization) they have snubbed every trade regulation there in. We live within a tsunami of Chinese consumer goods fueled by the multinational corporations who care only about profits. This has been the single largest reason for our economic reality today in both the United States and Canada if not the entire world. It's pretty easy to compete when you have 1.3 billion slaves at your disposal.

Apple, our darling little phones everyone can't live without employees 26 000 people in California and 700 000 in China where all their products are manufactured. They are worth billions and use slave labour to make it and we all line up to buy it. We need to wake up folks.

The large players in our mist like the Bilderberger types and the Bohemian grove types are feudal lords today as they were hundreds of years ago. Back then we could make a run on the castle and have their heads but today it's quite a bit different because they own governments, armies and police forces. We are done to them. They need new consumers. This is what terms emerging economies and globalization is all about. Even war to them is a mechanism to profit.

What a mess and how deep does the rabbit hole go. We can't solve it all here on ATS but we can inform ourselves. Stop buying goods from China. Walmart is Chinamart so stop shopping there. Capitalism, socialism, communism and all the other ism's are not the answer. We need something new. Competition isn't helping either. Sustainability might be a starting point to consider.

Happily? Don't speak for all of us. I'm Canadian and I don't think the monarchy should have any businesses in this country anymore. They should tend to their own nation. I think we should become completely independent and even have the queen taken off our currency. Every country has to mature and go out on its own at some point.

My apologies. It's true I do not speak for everyone. However, our heritage cannot be denied, and quite honestly without the Queen watching our backs I don't believe we could have kept, and continue to keep the merging of Canada and the US at bay.Besides, who would you rather pledge allegiance to...the Queen or Harper?

I don't support the monarchy here either. Its invalid and obsolete. And has nothing to do with the reality that US and Canada are not on the same page on anything. They're system is akin to the worst in the world for democracy issues, and the worst services. We'll never be a part of their country in any century.

I for one, and one lonely voice I am, won't pledge allegiance to anything until I believe something warrants my support.
