patrolling a residential area....those guys manning the guns ready by the looks of things to fire if need be.......fire at what school kids truanting from school.....correct me if I am wrong but the military have training grounds do they not? why a show of force in a public place?....hmmm seems kind of suspicious....but hey what would I know i'm just a civilian.....

Would it be too much to ask that they dismount the guns while going through populated areas like that? It's a small thing... I'm sure they are not running with ammo loaded, let alone ready to shoot ..but APPEARANCES used to mean a great deal in America. NOT causing stress to the public and keeping the work of the Military as much out of sight as reasonably possible used to be a high priority.
This is absurd. I don't see much excuse for running boats down populated waterways with light machine guns in the mounts and men at the stations. It's just not necessary. The boat driver was the only one getting training on THAT stretch of water.

Training in the same place over and over breeds complacency and complacency kills. Training must be realistic and even hazardous at times.
I was a Training NCO for quite a few years and we rarely trained in the same place. Sometimes it even took place in cities and towns, but we always coordinated our activities with the local government.
That said, sometimes the local government didn't let the LEO's know we were in their AO training and that always led to some tense, but eventually humorous moments.
And those local governments, they rarely let the populace know either.

since when did they have a need to have them train amongst civilians to keep them on their toes?
Please...
