I am an overhead linesman working for the electricity board. There are so many wires (LV) on our network that run through trees, that I fear this is gonna be pretty rough for us. I'm doubly annoyed by the fact I'm on standby Monday night...me thinks I may be busy!

I will keep you posted on how many faults I get.

DM

I feel your pain, dude. I work for a large telco that has a fair amount of it's fibre going over the HV National Grid network. I am also in on Monday night, so I also suspect I may have a busy one....

That said, this article is from the Express who do have a tendency to overegg this type of news. Only a couple of weeks ago, we were apparently in for Arctic blasts that would bury us all in snowdrifts....

I'm sure they predicted it late Sunday? Got to say the wind is getting up...I'm in the South East & I think it's gonna be bad!

We get stinking weather a lot here in Scotland anyway, so high winds and rain is the norm

If the sun comes out we wonder what is and it's unusual lol

Someone should call the media and announce a kite-flying competition in some major public park, timed for the height of the storm. And then go thru with it!

Having lived in Aberdeen for 10 years, I thought there were only two types of weather in Scotland....bad and worse?

Matrix signs on the motorway ( Nottingham area ) are saying " Strong winds forcast for Sunday and Monday". I'm going to be driving my lorry on Monday keeping the supermarket shelves stocked. But i'm not to worried, i just steer into the wind. lol

What's the deal, did we just stop building things the way we used to(Weather resistant) or have we all just turned into a nation of wusses???

Here in the UK the wrong kind of leaf on the road brings traffic chaos!

Yes I have grown to like it....the land of greenery.

And lots of people living so close together I have got lost here more times than I ever could in the deep woods of Canada....least we will all just face it head on....sit back ...enjoy a cup of tea before we all get out there in our wellies and just CRACK ON!

PFFFFT a little storm.
