Man Tries to Set Self Ablaze at White House
Monday, November 15, 2004

WASHINGTON, D.C. � An unidentified man tried to set himself on fire outside the White House fence midday Monday, witnesses said.

Onlookers said the incident took place outside the Northwest gate. Uniformed Secret Service (search) agents were seen rushing to surround the man, who had graying hair and glasses. He was heard screaming in pain.

Television cameras captured the aftermath. Smoke hung in the air around the man as paramedics rushed to provide aid. The man appeared to be clutching his hand in pain, but it was unclear how serious his burns were.

A spokesman for the District of Columbia Fire Department (search) said the man suffered burns over about 30 percent of his body.

ya, he found out that bush didn't care about him anymore, couldn't live with the knowledge and managed to get in through our "great border security" right to the whitehouse and committed suicide right while bush was looking out the window at him.....

these people need to take some lessons from the dems and learn how to protest the right way!!! PARTY!!!

This could be akin to the self immolating monks protesting for the treatment of buddhists. If this happened, this man most likely was not a terrorist of any sort. Simply protesting U.S. action in the Middle East and the horrid treatment of muslims.

Well when the story broke on Fox News there on the phone interview with there on site team said it was an arab man. If this changes i'll have to topic changed.

With all this talk about nukes maybe it was a Wake up call to a sleeper cell.

Terrorist attack? OMG. It's called "non-violent protest" and "sacrificing your life for the recognition of a cause".

Tibetan monks set themselves on fire when China illegally invaded Tibet, and they too were derided as fanatics and dangerous looneys. Congratulations to Bush for showing the Chinese Communist Party the way, now Tibetan, Xin Jiang and Inner Mongolian organizations are being labelled as *with a Texan drawl folks* "Terrorists".

I didn't even call the guy a terrorist. It was just a possible explanation for someone setting themselves on fire. There are many other possibilities...

It could be anything.

As for the person saying "1 down, 150 mil to go"...

How about this one:

"3,000 down, 250 million to go."

or how about:

"1100 down, 120,000 to go."

Cstyle, I wont deffend the "1 Down" refference, but you are WAAY off base and I am highly offended that you would say those things. You are comparing a person WHO SET IMSELF on fire to the MURDER of people. Not one of the people you mention aksed to be killed, this guy hurt himself.
