Sadly it doesn't surprise me at all, since it has been going on for a while, and not only in America as lobbyists seem to write lots of laws all around the world these days.

The healthinsurance- ,pharma- and foodindustry is in charge of healthcare, consumer protection and admission of drugs, the banks are in charge of the fiscal policy and the military-industrial complex is in charge of the Pentagon and foreign policy.

It sure looks like the politicians don't even try to hide it anymore... but then again most of the people are so dumbed down by bread and games that they really don't have to hide anything.

On the bright side though, having big corporations take over the government to bleed the peole dry and screw them over is capitalism in its purest form, so nobody needs to be afraid of socialism anymore.

I almost want to laugh and cry at this comment at the same time. Sigh.

So true.

S&F. I can't help but wonder how this will all play out. Guess we will see soon enough. We, as a collective group, will finally have a breaking point from garbage like this and I think it's rapidly approaching.

As you both know, that's crony capitalism. But I must confess I'm afraid that the pure form of capitalism is nothing more than a fairy tale.

The problem with any of the ism's is that none of them really will work because of one factor.

Human greed.

If you look really carefully thins are not what they seem.

House Republicans passed three-dozen bills defunding, or otherwise modifying, Obamacare. The last try was fully fund the government, but added requirement no more special waivers for Congress, their staff, and for big business without the same waivers applying to individuals.

Interestingly enough Obama refused to sign it and Senate Democrats refused to pass it.

Now that is really weird because if that makes the rounds it cuts the throats of the Democrats in the next election.... Pigs are more equal and all that.

Next curiosity:
China, Russia and the BRICS countries out maneuvered the International Bankers by setting up their own international development bank.

According to the IMF website the meeting was suposed to be October 10th to the 7th.

True, but they sound good and are therefore very very useful for controlling the ignorant masses. People who are intentionally kept ignorant, brainwashed and if needed drugged by the GOVERNMENT schools. People who are taught to base decisions on feeling and not logical thinking.

MALBOSIA
Where was this Info when the bill was being written or debated?

Did the republicans go after Obama's camp with this?

No need to answer any of that, Its rhetorical.

In the new spirit of ATS this is not a partisan issue now and always has been, and here is why.

It doesn't matter what side anyone chooses anymore because any party in Washington D.C. is merely a puppet for special interests, and large corporations.

We can have an illusion of a new party or even a new government, but as long as the large corporate interests run the show, then the characters will change, but the content of the story remains the same.

This was proven by Rand Paul's unscripted open-mic gaffe and the response of competitor website, who after days of rants and claims of being 'fed up' simply mocked his own website and told everyone "he was going to do nothing like everyone else and just order a pizza and kickback and watch a movie."

I stopped my paid membership within minutes of that thread being posted.

It's all been a big BS game. And we've been had!

see, this is not at all surprising.....this kind of thing happens ALL THE TIME....

and i agree that it is quite humorous that none of the pro-obamacare robot shills from the other threads are in here defending it....they can't argue with emotional appeals, red herrings, and ad hominem atacks, in the face of facts..

Yeah, let's put this in perspective and follow the money trail leading from the Tea Party folks opposing this healthcare bill to it's source. They are funded by a conglomeration of giant corporations ALL too cheap and unscrupulous to offer health care to their own workers unless it is under duress, chemical companies, pharmaceutical firms and insurance middlemen, hedge fund operators, the Koch brothers, the Waltons of Walmart's and assorted white supremacist hate groups. This is the party of de-regulation so they can skip safety measures that protect their workers, the party that owns the coal mines and wants freedom to dangerously pollute the environment and put workers at risk - if it means they save some money....the party that wants to dictate who you can and cannot marry, the party that is against cannabis (being heavily invested in alcohol and tobacco) pro war (being heavily invested in oil and defense contractors) anti birth control, anti education and the party that keeps population burgeoning and people hungry & desperate by dictating what you are allowed to do with a zygote in the womb.... Yeah...follow the money.

Health care affiliations regarding a Health Care Bill are not surprising. So, Johnson and Johnson may be planning a role in taking part in some of these health care concerns affecting everyday people. What surprises me is that more companies are not on board. Blatant disrespect and regard for your workers health is never pretty. I am not surprised companies are exposing their ugly side by acting out against this "Obamacare" bill because they cannot expose what they actually support. By fighting and denying affordable health care to them - They show they are against their workers. The very people who devote their lives to them. It is sad. It is shameful. It is unamerican.

Now you can see why the gov boys failed to adopt or even cherry pick the features of the more succsessful govt healh care of some other countries, instead of opting for a purely US style con job.....payoffs............

As a supporter of healthcare reform from the start, this is no surprise to those of us who supported a single-payer, universal plan. We were pissed when Max Baucus announced that not-for-profit representatives would not be given a seat at the table and we knew that the push came from the private healthcare insurance lobby.

Make no mistake, this is nothing new. It's the very same lobby that stopped Hillary from reforming healthcare back during the Clinton presidency and it just goes to show how powerful the corporate lobbying influence is and how it permeates and corrupts our legislative process.

On the bright side, we got farther this time than Hillary did back when she attempted to reform healthcare.

Now, the next logical step is to amend the PPACA to allow for single-payer, not-for profit options to those seeking coverage. When the general public gets to see what real single-payer coverage looks like and how affordable it is, especially when compared to policies being offered in the private for-profit realm, taking the next step of morphing it into true universal healthcare for America will be a no-brainer.

No one every said that defeating the private healthcare insurer's lobby would be easy. I think they make up 1/5 of our economy and they're not going to let go of their cash cow easily.

Rest assured, once the TP/GOP finishes with their futile threats & temper tantrums, the more sensible minds in government will come together and draft the necessary legislation to fix, (Not repeal, Not defund, Not delay) but "fix" the PPACA into a truly universal system of healthcare for all Americans.

I will repost a comment of mine from a different thread

Who do you think wrote the bill?
Hint - it wasn't Obama
Who do you think signed the bill?
Hint - it's nicknamed Obamacare

What do you call an economy run by corporations, for corporations?
Hint - not capitalism
What do you call elected representatives who betray the people, for any reason?
Hint - it rhymes with schmaitor

Realtruth, wasn't it you that also posted a comment re: the fact that some insurance companies stocks went up 200-300% after the implementation of Obamacare??

No matter who posted that comment, it remains a fact. It's plain to see Obamacare was a huge gift to insurance companies when their stocks make that big of a jump.
The people got shafted. I feel sorry for those (ahem) suckers that blindly support(ed) obamacare.

I don't remember using the word "only" and think that is one assumption you came up with yourself. And writing that is the first time I have "thought" about you at all. I think many people don't like the bill, Democrats for one. It can be changed at a later date to include the Single Payer Public Option many people wanted. I remember the health care battles and this WAS a compromise. Democrats gave away too much but they were demands put out by Republicans. The GOP kept waiting for the straw to break the camels back but it never came. Dems went along with them no matter what they wanted, just to get the thing passed. That Republicans are fighting it now is sad desperation. People with pre-conditions probably don't care WHY anyone else doesn't like it. They like it. Means they live. Parents with kids in College like it and a majority of Americans, 100% of those without health care, they like it. Most people wanted some cap on the rising medical prices and unnecessary tests people were being made to suffer just because they had insurance.

while you may not have actually used the word "only", your generalization did, in not so many words....

the preexisting conditions provision could have been passed all on it's own, as a separate bill, if congress had any balls...

I m beginning to suspect that the 18 triljon national debt is caused by people just like Liz. Everybody is corrupt and therefore everybody is looking the other way. The US government higher offices are a free for all... Nobody cares and tries to cash in before the entire country collaps.

A solution would be to hire an independend forensic bookkeeping agency to desinfect the US government from corruption.

I say, potential ammunition for an presidential election speech..
