Interesting information!

The broom enjoyed reading your background. It is interesting to note that in the Bible Paul advises Timothy to drink wine, because of some stomach aliment he had.

That being said, drinking wine for Jesus was more than just, because it's safe.

At the last supper Jesus shows how special drinking wine with his friends is when he says: "But I tell YOU, I will by no means drink henceforth any of this product of the vine until that day when I drink it new* with YOU in the kingdom of my Father." Matthew 26:29.

Thanks for reading and absorbing what I had to say

I wasn't offering it to anyone as a "you're WRONG, sir" kind of statement, merely a bit of historical reference.

Although I do occasionally imbibe myself (if I drink a six pack within a months time, I consider myself to have really partied hard that month), I generally abstain. I see it as a drug, a controlled substance, as much as I see marijuana, heroin, coc aine, coffee, chocolate, and toothpaste being controlled substances for that matter.

Well I'll say this. I only read what you said. I haven't read through the thread yet.

Guess I just wanted to say that alcohol was the main culprit in my moms death. She drank everyday. She handed me my first drink when I was 13. I still struggle with alcohol. I want it but knowing it helped shut my moms liver down makes me think twice...but sometimes I don't think twice and drink.

Sure I know that anything abused can lead to problems. She abused the alcohol and it wasn't good. Growing up in that environment wasn't really good but I wouldn't be who I am today if I hadn't. My dad is still an alcoholic(functioning sarcastic piece of work) and my uncle is actually in rehab right now for alcohol.(he wrecked a company truck while under the influence)

I'm a Christian and I see nothing wrong with drinking. And even my mom being gone, I still see no problem with it. I guess it's when you start to abuse it, then that's when I see it as wrong.

Btw...why did you say "you Christians...Jesus drank wine" do you think that some Christians don't know that??? Just nat the curious cat here. It almost seemed like you were trying to take a jab at Christians... Just my lil ole humble southern opinion though. What do I know??... Nothing really.

Sinter Klaas
I don't drink anymore. If I do I get sick. Stupid pills.

I recently started taking a drug, that prevents the alcohol getting broke down by the liver.
Only 10 minutes later and I get the worst hangover imaginable,or so they say. I didn't try yet.

The reason for me to prevent me from drinking, is because I'm weak. I've got a history of addictions behind me, and I don't want to start another. I already enjoy the mornings, when I wake up all fresh and fit.
That alone makes it worth it.

I do miss a cold beer though.

If it's the same drug that used to be part of Indiana's drunk driving program, what you've heard is true. Just not worth it. I've never taken it, but know probably a dozen guys that have.

Hangovers suck...

The church we attended when the kids were still young insisted that the wine created by Jesus was more like grape juice. That was probably my biggest pet peeve. What they were saying, in effect, was that the Son of God only created a "little" miracle because he didn't want any drunks there. Why would the Son of God, at a celebration, create on 1/2 a Miracle?

I've seen that thread my friend. I didn't know that some Christians believe that Jesus never drank wine. That seems kinda strange imo...I'm no scholar on the bible but I could have sworn he drank wine. Guess I'm goin to diff kind of churches. I can't find a church now tho that follows what I believe... I'm not a typical Christian I guess you would say, I explained more in my private message to you..

Peace and love friend

1 Timothy 5:23 - Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities

Ecclesiastes 9:7 - Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works.

Proverbs 31:6 - Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.

Deuteronomy 7:13 - And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.

Amos 9:14 - And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit [them]; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.

Joel 2:24 - And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil.

Proverbs 3:10 - So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

Genesis 27:28 - Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine:

Genesis 14:18 - And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he [was] the priest of the most high God.

Jesus drank wine. People accused him of being a drunkard. They wouldn't have done so if he didn't drink wine. Jesus made wine at the wedding of Cana. The fermented kind of wine. NOT grape juice.

Wine in moderation is fine.
