Dang, you're right. I spoke to soon on this thread...

www.snopes.com...

No provision of the PPACA authorizes federal agents to undertake "forced home inspections." What this item (erroneously) references is the PPACA's creation of the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Visiting Program, which "facilitates collaboration and partnership at the federal, state, and community levels to improve health and development outcomes for at-risk children through evidence-based home visiting programs" by awarding development grants to states that "currently have modest home visiting programs and want to build on existing efforts."

Yep. All this does is give some grant money to states who are already implementing home visiting programs. If a state doesn't currently do this, no problem - they just won't qualify for the grant money. The feds aren't going to come banging down your door to take your cigarettes. Cool story though, bro.

Wow - sorry Wrabbit I do! That was entirely my mistake. I must have seen the rabbit avatar and read your arguments but spaced it.

Ouch, my bad too then. I figured you were being a bit sarcastic (A little confused on that)? No biggy... There are a couple on here I've confused in replies too. I didn't use names, so I hope the mistake for replying the wrong direction wasn't noticed too badly...but it happens, right?

lucky you people do not live in the u.k i think 16 different goverment bodies CAN force their way into your home for stupid little things like keeping rabbits even the traffic warden can force entry .

i recently got threatened with a £175+vat $240 if i did not open my door to the gas man and my meter is outside they break in and you pay for the damage .

when i pointed out it was outside like everybody else had he shrugged and said got to be done then the gas man checks the electricity meter and smoke alarms wtf .

i pointed out it had been done 6 weeks ago by the electricity man who also checked the gas and i have pre pay meters aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

lucky there was 3 gas men and 2 police and a joiner or i would have kicked off big time when i pointed out that i could have been in hospital or offshore or on holiday and if i had come home to a bill for 6-7 hundred pounds for breaking in to my home when i do not owe them f all i get told health and safety that is the 3rd time this year they have threatened to break in someones going to get hurt soon ps you are not even allowed to smoke in your own home when they are due ??????aaaaahhhhhhh

In reading the material at Snopes and the actual press release from HHS on this? It's a play on words...and a twist of the truth for how it's presented. True... Fundamentally though? It's absolutely not THAT far off.

Competitive Grants will be awarded to some..not all...based on the home inspection and visit planning/regime. Okie Dokie... Social workers are part of the package. Parental Employment and general wellness as well as making sure predetermined milestones are met ..all part of the priority in this for how their own words put it.

It also gives the criteria list making someone 'eligible' to be 'offered' this assistance. So, okay, it's not by boot to the door and force all the way in ...and social workers don't necessarily equal a bad thing. On the other hand, Department Of Family Services/Child Protective Services agencies across this country are out of friggin control and the headlines show it often enough.

It makes a competitive environment, with money as the goal, for them to get into more lives, more often and deeper than ever before.

Personally, I don't need it forced to see the problem ..and I don't need them carrying a Federal ID card to be federally inspired and funded. Same diff to me.

Wait, you heard this from a friend who heard this from someone online who has a friend? It is clear you embellished, as you could not have gotten that kind of detailed account from that interaction.

I'm not saying the health thing isn't a mess and a criminal act, but there are problems with using this as your straw that breaks its back.

The act does not go into effect jan 1, so the intrusion seems dubious.

If someone comes to your door and ASKS to come in, and you let them, the whole thing is on you, not them, as you can refuse. According to your account we have no way of knowing the exchange at the door. We also do not know if the process was about receiving some sort of benefit. We have no way of knowing it this is fed, state or local?

When seeking to work people into a frenzy the best way is to offer the friend of a friend story, offer no way to verify, then incite. Truly, you really need to rethink this kind of friend, who has a friend who has a neighbor - so it's fact, post.

This is a bunch of BS used as propaganda to keep Americans from wanting healthcare for all.
Any American who is so stupid that they object to no fees health care as a right if birth needs to go introduce himself to a CDN who will let him know that Health Canada does not profile a smoker and go invade their privacy.
This is a load of crap article. Don't believe anything in any media that tries to convince you that socialized healthcare is bad. Just yo ahead and keep paying your exorbitant premiums to big private corps that deny your claim forcing you to file bankruptcy because you brake a hip. Keep working for those slave runners who take a big chunk of your pay checks for what they call "benefits". Pff maybe drink some fluoride while you're at it.

The primary objective of progressive liberals - otherwise known as Marxist/Leninist communists - and most especially of those who vote them into office - is to subvert the Bill of Rights, and in so doing destroy this Republic thereby transforming it into a communist state. You think I'm exaggerating don't you?

This thread must have the Obama apologists up in a roar demanding it be dumped into hoax bin. Ben Swann is not a hoaxer as far as I am concerned. If you disagree and have real evidence to challenge what Swann has shared please do so, and I am sure you can come up with liberal apologist sites to use, but as you all so often like to do, I will ask for a non-partisan site that doesn't have an agenda.

If this issue were not a problem as the OP says, then why are states taking steps to stop agents from going into our homes on flimsy basis like the linked article states:

A manual called Child Neglect: A Guide for Prevention, Assessment, and Intervention includes firearms as potential safety hazard and will require inspectors to verify safety compliance and record each inspection into a database. Last session South Carolina Rep.

Bill Chumley introduced a bill, H.3101 that would nullify certain provisions of Obamacare. The bill would give the state attorney general the authority to authorize law enforcement to arrest federal agents for trespassing. It would make forced home inspections under Obamacare illegal in South Carolina. It passed in the House but died in the senate.

i'm fairly certain i have never heard anyone say health care for all is bad. what's bad is taxation without representation, that's bad and that's the ACA and our entire legislative branch these days. what you have to realize is that none of the bill was written to fix anything nor give everyone health care, it was designed to increase insurance industry profits. hence the reason why they wrote it, the insurance industry that is.

You could put it in the hoax bin at least so that it is there for reference.

I believe that it may be false.

But we found an issue, looked into it, had a discussion and closed the issue - that seems productive to me. Plus, people added more information. As a first step into what I consider a complex issue (ObamaCare) I think it gave me some places to start.

As a side note, some people have valid perspectives and opinions about Obama Care that deserve to be heard and should absolutely, under no circumstances, be shut down for political reasons, in fact, if their arguments are successfully disputed it should be kept for the record.

Also - I am going to be reading the thread now to see what other information people have added to it since I have been gone so I can be more informed about Obama Care. I see some YouTube videos that need watching.

But in case I didn't make it clear, thank you for the fact check. I was actually about to log in to do something similar but wasn't sure how.

So, what happened to your friend? His house was searched, then what happened? Fined? Put on a list? What?

I think in this case (if it happened) I am guessing the cost of health insurance for him would go up and also possibly suggestions would be made for lifestyle changes. That's a good question that I hadn't thought of, probably not much more than that.

In the meantime, hopefully nothing indicating criminal activity would be found, because without a warrant, it shouldn't be allowed into court and the probable cause for getting a warrant in this case seems like it would be shaky.

Don't take this the wrong way, OP, but I have extreme difficulty believing this. It seems somewhat alarmist, and I can't help but feel like you didn't get the whole story from your friend of a friend.

I did read the link to the Ben Swann site, and it did read like a 1984-style conspiracy thriller, but I can't help but wonder what they're basing their info on.

I really can't see them violating the 4th amendment. The only way I can almost seem them maybe getting away with it, is if there is something in "obamacare" stating that if you accept the service, you have to agree to waive privacy, etc etc. Which sounds like it's right on the border of illegal, anyway, as that would be coercion.

What I will say is that if this is true, there is almost no faster way for them to cause mass protests (that would make occupy look like a joke) and possibly violent revolution. No joke. This would go over worse than forced disarmament, IMHO. One of the few things that could turn me into an "activist" pretty quick, that's for sure....

Seriously? You've got giant brass ones. Not only is your post offensive, it's ignorant. I don't know what's grosser, your post or the fact that like 10 people starred it. Flat out calling 50% of your fellow Americans traitors makes glaringly obvious the extent of your programming. The MSM Conglomerate says "those dirty liberals are destroying America" and people like you are ready to leap to action with pitch-forks and torches to destroy the threat like the good little herd you are.

But the hilarious part is when you attempt to equate liberals with "Marxist/Leninist Communists". Perhaps you shouldn't use such big words that you don't understand. Also, are you 80? The McCarthy era was a long time ago, and "Commie" doesn't quite have the same ring of terror and stigma to it that it once did.

Ugh. I don't know why I continue to read political threads on ATS. It seems like maybe 10% of people want to actually have civilized conversations and discuss real issues and solutions. The other 90% just want to be partisan hacks and rub their opponents noses in crap.
