video is just disturbing. I've never seen something obscene like that on TV before, it's not even erotic or something like that, but rather just agressively sexual and inappropriate for girl her age and to be on TV in general.

Have you not watched any TV since the 80's? I saw a couple quick flashes of side-boob, and a bit of cleavage. Many commercials show far more than that.

Personally, I thought it was kinda funny. However, your reaction to it is way funnier than the video itself. So thanx.

She used to be kid star and was really sweet, but it's obvious she must have gone through some programming as many other female pop musicians and I think this video is about it.

In my opinion, it is YOU who has been programmed to think that a video such as this should not be allowed on TV.

Everybody starts out as a kid, but that changes. She's not a kid anymore. Now I suppose I could be wrong with this, but I'm fairly certain that she is no longer making videos for The Disney Channel. She doesn't have to abide by Disney-esque types of restrictions.

I think the best term I heard while growing up for what she has chosen to become is Hussy. Tramp comes to mind too.....but that is a little understated in her case.

The one I feel most for here is Billy Ray Cyrus. I've followed some of what he's said over the years about her and her career and he's really seemed to care deeply about keeping her out of the Prosti-Path to stardom that seems very well traveled these days. Sadly...it appears all his work was for little, once she could break away and go pursue her ...ahem..interests.

She was a cute girl, once.

it depends on what they wanted to portray exactly. You want to argue that she is not at least boyish looking? It's ok if you think it is hot.

I'm sorry to tell you that Miley is simply trying to keep up with the kids. She's not the leading influence. She's behind the times and desperately trying to regain relevance with her target audience.

Kids are so deaf to any semblance of class or pride that they don't seem any different from animals on wild kingdom. Sex is a way to get attention and be accepted because the more intelligent methods of social interaction take too much time and effort on the part of a social group that has been trained to have no self respect or integrity beyond blind acceptance and instant gratification.

I had a kid in his twenties who was working on a drilling rig with me while I was at training people to run the equipment.
This kid says to me "you want to see my girlfriend?"
I said "sure."
He shows me a VIDEO on his phone of a girl masturbating with toys. She sent it to him so his "friends" could see what he was getting. She was doing stuff only porn stars got caught doing on video when I was a kid.

I said, "That's your girlfriend?"

OK, after watching the video the song is about feeling vulnerable. She gave her heart to someone and they broke it. She is showing her vulnerability in the video. I kind of dig it.

Sure she is naked in parts of it, but you dont see anything. Honestly, she is wearing as much as you would see with a bikini on in most of it.

I have no problems...

MOST teenage girls know they cannot go out in public like that or wear their tank and undies around.

Yeah... I agree. No boundaries. Amy Winehouse had no boundaries either. Nor did River Phoenix, altho many today won't even recall that name, I imagine. He was a good actor with a real promising career....until no boundaries happened once too often outside an L.A. nightclub.

Hopefully Miley finds some boundaries ...so she outlives a few that took radical turns like this, before her.

You'd only say that after living in the American media bubble. Spend some time in Europe where there's topless commercials selling milk. Spend time in Europe and compare Miley to many European female artists who actually show more skin. Sex sells. While you might not like it, it's not solely in music either. Look at Hollywood. Look at certain shows on HBO or Showtime showing full on male and female nudity.

Why are Americans so afraid of sexuality? Why is this so disturbing to you after everyone from Madonna to Cher to Britney to Fergie to Aguilera to Lady Gaga to Rihanna to a number of European and South American artists I could name.

She's not a child. She's an entertainer. Sex sells in entertainment everywhere aside from a place like Saudi Arabia. It's not porn. It's entertainment. If she did this in any number of countries no one would blink. For some reason nudity in America is considered evil by some. They're afraid of it while their kids play violent video games hour after hour. I don't get it and it's apparent when I travel. Not uncommon on many Euro beaches to see more woman topless than not and wearing thongs. Do that here and you're a slut and trying to sexualize everything.

Maybe the problem is Americans want to tie all their insecurities into seeing someone's buttcheek and want to blame the buttcheek for their insecurities. The Janet Jackson fiasco over her nipple a few years ago shows just how ridiculous this all has gotten. You want to hide your kids from nipples, go right ahead. In Europe however their kids grow up just fine even with all the nudity and generally don't grow into the violent war mongerers and large percentages of people with mental problems we have here. I'm amazed at how much more mentally stable the average Eastern European is when I travel. Less resources, more nudity on tv yet we're the country pumping out nutcases by the millions.

What I find disturbing about this thread concerning Miley is how quick people are to lable her a "whore, hussy, tramp". She is an artist. You may not agree with her manner of performing and thats ok. But to lable her according to your standards is wrong. She is an adult and has the right to express herself. I'm no fan of her either, but I would not call her such derogatory names without knowing her personally. She has an act that she performs she is no different from any actor/actress on film or stage. We don't call actors or actresses personal names because of the roles they play so why do it those in the music industry?
