Neo-Nazis Take Over North Dakota Town in the U.S. – Native Americans and Activists Protest

Personally, I think these kinds of groups are far, far more dangerous to the people of the US than the boogeyman of Al-Quaeda and Islamic terrorism. This is what "domestic terrorism" looks like, it's got nothing to do with free speech.

I'm still trying to figure out what they did that was illegal. So they want to move to an area and have other like minded people move to the area as well.

Have they been burning down the homes of minorities?
Have they been attacking inter-racial couples in the streets?
Have they committed violence against anyone based on perceived ideologies?

Or are they simply white? Is that the new crime now?

I live in downtown Detroit. I am six blocks from the Ren-Cen. All you people here who claim that these "ass-hats" shouldn't be allowed to live where they want and should be cut off from society? Please, please, please, just come walk around my neighborhood for a few hours one night. It might just change your mind of what kind of utopia they want to leave behind. It is easy to pass judgment from the comfort of a comfortable suburban living room.

Your statement is flawed. Multicultural societies pride themselves not on what makes them different but what makes them accepting. Take ice hockey in Canada, very popular yet not dominated by minority groups (excluding European minorities). You can be "white" and "proud" just don't say you're above anyone else = saying you're a supremacist = Neo-Nazi.

Yes we do. We became a strong nation because of the many cultures that helped develop us along the way.

For those of you brave enough to walk around the neighborhood I live in, a BBQ will be ready when (if) you get back. There will be, whites, blacks, Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, Hondurans, Trinidadians, Cubans, and a few more "types" of Americans. Mixed into all that will be Catholics, Baptists, Atheists, I swear two voodoo people, and probably more than that. There will be strait people, gay people, and people that are just "friendly" with everyone there as well. It is not uncommon to hear 3-4 languages in my living room all at once on the weekends or the evenings. America has many different ways of judging people, I judge based on the content of character and I have only been disappointed a few times in my life.

I never said I agreed with what these people want out of life. I asked what they were doing wrong.

Therein lies the rub. to say "white and proud" has become synonymous with supremacy.

Even you when picking out the "flaw" in my statement, only mentioned the "white and proud" potion. It is ingrained into the subconscious.

It's like the "Hitler salute". It is centuries older than the Nazi's rise to power. Even American school kids used it to say the pledge at one time (Bellamy salute). Not now though. It belongs 100% to the Third Reich.

There is a major flaw in being a neo-nazi in the US.
Unlike the Nazi's of 1930's & 40's Germany, the white population are not defending ( in their own warped mind that is) something that was theirs in the first place. The native skin colour of The America's was not white.
I wonder what the I.Q. level of these people would be?

Like Borough Park, NY or Dearborn, MI, or Mexicantown (old SW Detroit)?

++Before I get flamed for that or called a racist. I did not name it Mexicantown, nor is it used as a disparaging remark as far as I know. Even the Highway exit signs have been changed to say "Mexicantown next three exits".++

In all three of those areas peoples of a like mind and similar racial background live in close proximity. The local store fronts are no longer in English and to work in the area you must be fluent in a foreign language. What makes it so evil when white people do it?

These people are not nazi's and their beliefs have nothing to do with National Socialism. It's about individuals who don't fit into society, looking for a target to release their hate, frustration and depression. The ones with any intelligence come through the other side and realise that it's just one half of a story. It's a similar thing with anti-fascists; Each side only knows one half of the story and doesn't want to listen to the other half. In the meantime, they have no clue as to how much damage they're causing.

Do you now want to say that todays "natives" were here first? New finds are disproving that. Pre-Clovis finds show an earlier western migration to the eastern seaboard.

Maybe it's just a really long game of "move your feet lose your seat" with pushing allowed.

EDIT - there is a MAJOR flaw in being a neo-Nazi in any country. The concept of Aryanism is beyond comical to say the least. There is no such thing as genetic purity in the world and thank the gods for that.

To paraphrase a History teacher I had, Hitler did nothing new, just perverted old things like the swastika and further copied Mussolini's Brown Shirts or whatever colour they were and changed it. Ultimately, the fascination with neo-nazis largely stems from a glorification of Hitler and the Holocaust and his ideology.

We cannot glorify terrorism. Your right to throw a punch ends at my nose etc. Ultimately, if discrimination is permitted and it still continued to this day, then we risk dividing what unity has been accomplished.

You're picking a different fight now. Native Americans have a history of their own originally coming across the Bering Street or via boats. With that said, they are the longest living inhabitants of the Americas.

The only discrimination going on in this story is discrimination against the group focused on in the OP's post.

They've done nothing wrong aside from expressing beliefs that move contrary to those of the people that are also living in the area.

The actions of the groups attempting to force these people from the town are the equivalent of white people moving to the other side of the street when they see a black man approaching on the side that they are on. he's done nothing wrong except to be black, and yet he is suspected of evil intentions. When these people are arrested for performing some kind of illegal action, then feel free to ostracize them, but until that happens, leave them alone and let them live their own lives in a manner that they deem appropriate, just like any other American.

It's amazing how an obvious truth is able to escape otherwise intelligent people.

I want to say I am not trying to "pick a fight" I am sorry if I come across that way, it is not my intent.

I think you are wrong however about what drives the neo-nazi movement. It is not that they have read and understand history, it is not that they read and understood Mien Kampf, it is not that they understand politics and want change.

Nazism espouses violence. They get young men of impressionable age and "teach" them that they can get what they want with their fists. Being a "skin" boils down to three things: blood, girls, beer. End of list.

Hitler is the poster boy for them because took these ideas to an international level. The blitzkrieg, peace through superior firepower. Lightning bolts, skulls, Norse gods, Vikings, he blended the warrior mythos into an army and released them upon the world. that is why he is their idol. 90% of this rabble do not understand that. They know that they fight, if they fight well enough they get the girl, either way they get beer when its all over.

The worst thing that might have befallen these people is that they wouldn't be allowed to marry a German girl if they had *impure* blood in them.

No worries . I think I finally understand your point of view now on the topic. With that said, it is a sensitive topic even though World War II has long since ended. These are a new generation of ideologues however. If the future is to be shaped, the lessons of the past must not be forgotten. While the swastika and potentially the "Hitler Salute" were corrupted by Hitler, their corruption has left an indelible stain. To uncover that stain at the beginning of the twenty-first century - especially by this group lacking multicultural diversity, really makes me think "what went wrong" that they would spend time on the "Neo-Nazi" ideology vs something more beneficial for all of humanity.

I do often find it ironic that the white pride people are the dregs of society. Instead of inspiring pride they inspire embarrasment. It is like someone called central casting and said hey I need a group of dumb white people who look like they are inbred.

"white pride" is very generic. You have Polish Pride, Macedonian Pride, Russian Pride, Slavic Pride, Danish Pride, Swedish Pride, 4th of July pride, etc
