Dont see anything weird with the media coverage. Many are inept. Some want the big scoop so they'll report any stupid crap that comes along, others will wait to confirm information.
The coverage is HUGE!!!!!
The floods arent getting the same coverage, and neither is Syria now. Its like the Syrian war has paused just for this.
Being a bad shot is an indication of what, exactly? Not everyone is proficient in the use of, and accurate discharge of, a firearm. I can fire a rifle fairly well, but give me a pistol and I could fire at the ground and miss.
Its indicative of a "change of heart" by one of a few assailants, doing their duty as ordered by their superiors. Or a lone nut that although he was already arrested for discharging a firearm, hadnt managed to learn to shoot the guns he went on a shooting spree with.
And what is weird about the "unknown number of shooters" in this case? They had two other people that were seen with firearms, so they want to identify these individuals and make sure they are not part of it. One has been cleared, other has not yet.
Whats weird there, is that once the "patsy" was dead, the other "special forces" guys that were there for support could debrief.
I know, its a crazy conspiracy, but this is ATS.
I tend to think the worse before I let the facts reshape my opinion, I have seen this sort of thing TOO MANY TIMES BEFORE.

A tepid and cautious reader who wants more information rather than spurious finds on the Internet linking a "name only" to a person. Sorry if the desire to get it right is more important......
Who am I? No one who would deal with the likes of you is who.

Well yeah, you can make some of those assumptions, but why do that at this point? I find it much better to go without making assumptions, or only make assumptions that are considered safe (such as, I am going to assume a piano will not fall on my head while I am sitting at my desk at work).
With something like this, there's so much crap going on, I dont think any assumption is safe. I'll just digest the information as it comes (media, witnesses, etc) and decide how I feel from there.

for those asking about how many were injured - the person on the press conference said there is "probably a dozen or so" injured

I know a few have linked to pictures of Aaron Alexis but for those that do not clicking links I uploaded the picture, for your viewing pleasure ...
The Navy Yard shooter has been identified as 34-year-old Aaron Alexis from Fort Worth, Texas, according to the Associated Press and NBC News citing law enforcement officials.
Few details are available so far about Alexis, but someone with the same name was apparently arrested for discharge of a firearm in Forth Worth in 2010.
Police believe Alexis had a concealed carry permit for a weapon, the Associated Press reports.
In 2010, Alexis' gun apparently went off while he was in his apartment. The bullet shot a hole through his upstairs neighbor's floor.
NBC News in Dallas/Forth Worth obtained the arrest report. An excerpt from the narrative is posted below:
[The upstairs neighbor] also told me that her downstairs neighbor ARR (Alexis,Aaron) has called the police several times on her for being loud however the police always said they didn't hear anything and no action was taken. She said that several days ago Aaron confronted her in the parking lot about making too much noise. June told me that she is terrified of Aaron and feels that this was done intentionally.
Alexis reportedly told police that he was cleaning his gun when it accidentally went off.
Multiple weapons
Survellance video shows the gunman entered the building at the Naval Sea Systems Command Headquarters, at 1336 Isaac Hull Ave., with a shotgun, News4's Jackie Bensen reported. He shot the security guard in the head, killing him. The shooter then continued through the building, and seemed to target his victims, who were mostly on the third and fourth floors. D.C.'s Metropolitan Police Department and several other law enforcement agencies responded, Bensen said. During that response, a MPD officer was shot in the leg. The gunman was then shot by a FBI hostage response team, Bensen said. According to what witnesses are telling investigators, by the time the shootings ended, the gunman was seen with a semiautomatic 9 mm pistol and an AR-15 assault rifle. Authorities are investigating whether the gunman took the security guard’s service weapon – likely a 9 mm pistol – and hid in wait for the first responding D.C. police officers, who would be specially armed with AR-15s.

NBC reporting Alexis served 4 years in the navy from 2007 to 2011. Discharged after 4 years but not sure why.
