I'm with you, TDR, don't care for the new emoticons, and don't understand what was wrong with the old ones. The thumbs-up and thumbs-down emoticons
are also conspicuous in their absence.
There are any number of other issues which make the new ATS format inferior and problematic:
First off, I can't read the member info for the OP, as well as that of a few other posters here. White on gray? Are you serious, ATS? Skeptic
Overlord has said that user input has been heavily requested; however, I don't know it was paid attention to. I distinctly remember in some feedback
thread someone complaining about this very issue, yet the problem still exists. Here's a crazy suggestion: Why not use black print for the member
info above and below the member's avatar? Here is what white on off-white/gray looks like:
Good times
As others have said, the site seems less navigable.
Also, some of the symbols for various buttons are very vague and unintuitive, e.g. the down arrow button, which one must click in order to view one's
members' tools/options.
I undertand that the idea of this new format was to be more smart phone friendly. Well, a lot of us don't use smart phones, or bother viewing this
site with one. But more to the point: why degrade a good format for computer users? Why not have a choice of which format to view? Wouldn't that be
easy enough to do?
And for the folks who say "things change" or "accept change", etc., I just have this to say: blow it out your ears. Change for the worse is not
change for the better. Frankly the minimal contrasts in colors, i.e. all shades of gray and white is very lackluster and makes it harder to read
things.
Don't see myself clicking as many pages at ATS as before. Time will tell if the increase is phone views will make up for decreased computer views,
but I'd wager dollars to donuts that this new format is not going to increase viewership, and will turn off many of the fairly long-term members.
A hearty two thumbs down on the new format/look/design.
P.S.: Reading some comments here in this thread, people are talking about being able to view ATS "on the darkside", like there is an option? What is
this about? Does one have to read a specific thread to find out about such features? Why for the love of all that is holy can't there be an obvious
button to switch the look? Oh now I see: it's one of those obscure buttons that makes no sense at the top of the page. Who needs words when you can
have obscure symbols, which make no sense, huh?
