That's an important point to consider. It is our ball.

ATS has only provided the ball court. Or Forum. Or Rostrum.

And we are the players, with no players...no game.

Seems like there's a lot of wasted space in the new design due to over-sized content modules and/or poor choice of layout. I wish everything was a little more consolidated so more content would fit on the screen. I think the new design has potential though, just needs some tweaking to use screen space more efficiently, imo. Also, I agree about the smilies...they gotta go.

Life, sometimes, sucks. I'm still upset over the "new" Darren on the tv show "Bewitched".

Yup pretty much sucks, I could tolerate it all if we still had top flagged and commented threads on new topic page but we dont, and there really isn't a decent way to navigate. Lot of good info probably go unread. Pretty much a useless site now

This place kind of sucks now with the new makeover. Like most everyone else I can't stand it.

You'd think that the preference of those who generate the content would have factored into the decision making, but alas the will of the ATS contributors did not prevail.

Not such a bad thing though from my POV as I'd become addicted to ATS and this will make it very easy to depart.

Seems to me like anyone here on ATS is used to being ignored. We are ignored by our President, our Senators, our Representatives and for the most part even my wife. Bottom line is I agree with you that the new format is terrible. It reminds of a kids site, certainly not one for adults. However, as I get older I find I can either adapt or drop out of life and I am still willing to put in the effort to adapt.

That said, it seems it should be possible to keep the old version running for a while on XY.abovetopsecret.com. Not ideal I know, especially with the HTML5 support but there is an unignorable (spellcheck really doesn't like that word!) amount of discontent on this issue.

Oh, and my capital 'B' is gone again.

Seriously how many threads are there going to be of people crying and moaning about the new layout? Do you really think that by threatening to leave they will abide by your wishes? You sound like a child stomping their feet at the store because they can't get a toy.

Personally I'm glad those status bars are gone. They do not in my opinion represent those who contribute good threads, they just imo show those who contribute. It doesn't mean they contribute good quality threads. People should want to post on here to share information not to be rewarded with little gold stars. Yea I know many will say "but some of us like having something to strive for" and again I say what are you 12? It's an internet forum. If one person reads my thread then I did what I set out to do! If one person responds even better! I'd rather see page views than flags or stars.

For the record I am one who loves the new layout. I don't like the blue smiley's and I miss the friends feature but I'm not gonna cry about it and say I'm leaving. I'll adapt and move on.

I am openly admitting that I didn't like the last ATS format change.................. until much later, and then I love it.

Just give it a chance. Play with it. Check it out. If change-resistant dinosaurs like me can do it you can also. It's faster. It's simplistic and yet elegant.

Give it a test drive.

leaves more room for the rest of us who aren't layout nazis... personally, i disliked the whole "windows-8-wanna-be" change (previous layout) , but still came here daily for my news....

Why? because here, you get a little of everything ... from "MSM" to "Alternative"... From "scientific" to "you need medication dude"

Not to mention the Mods do a great job at keeping out the GLP trash


personally I really like the new layout... especially the " Recent > New " section...

The new format;

Is NSA proof
Does your taxes better than Tim Guitner
One of the new buttons makes all the clothes on peoples avatars "transparent"
Actually lets you talk to aliens on another planet
Will make you look cool for all the babes
Is spider-proof
Will get you free bacon

And gets you better gas mileage!

I noticed that happened to mine during beta testing. I figured out is was how I typed it in when I logged into the site. The old design it didn't matter, but with the new one it will change how it is displayed on posts.

I have my login saved to my browser, so I had to delete that & redo with capitals to make it display the way I like.

I did not save my log in. It is beginning to sound like I am going to lose my capital 'B', despite the fact that I used a capital letter when i signed on.

It bums me out almost as badly as ATS being completely denuded of anything that supports competitiveness.

The newness of "New ATS" goes much deeper than the way it looks.
