DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano Warns of Cyber Attack, Unprecedented Natural Disaster

The picture is probably over used but is worth a thousand words...

Out-going Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano will lead 10 campuses and nearly a quarter of a million students. However, her appointment comes with great controversy.

Right there is a natural disaster in the making. No wrath of god stuff needed.

I wonder how it's going so far...

UC students were asked to be heard on the appointment of Napolitano as president of the UC system. Within minutes, a small group of them disrupted the regents meeting. Four of them were cited and later released.

And those were just the people brave enough to say something.


I don't know, maybe they are placing her in California as a liaison in case "the big one'' hits.

Due to her experience and exposure to these types of events, she would be a likely candidate to oversee a natural disaster, filling her university with homeless and starving families all under the disguise of UC governing board president.

I'd like to chime in here about the "Cyber Attacks".
I can't go into detail (not because I don't want to, rather because I can't) but suffice it to say the threat is real.
There are legitmate actors out there that are state sponsored and whose sole job / mission is to steal, disrupt, and otherwise harm our countries information and networks.

It's not an idle threat - it is happening real time, every day, 24/7. It is a constant battle. People think this Cyber Warfare is just BS but let me tell you it is not.

Does Cyber Warfare affect joe the plumber who lives on a farm and keeps to himself? Yes.
Does Cyber Warfare affect the city denizens in their constant rat race? Yes.
Does Cyber Warfare affect the average family guy just trying to support his family? Yes.

How does it affect so many people? In many ways you may not realize.
These threat actors are trying to steal and disrupt (via Cyber Warfare) the very foundations of the system in which we live. From the business sector, to defense, economics, basic utilities, energy sectors, research and development, even academics. They want to steal our knowledge and our hard work. Work and knowledge that we spent DECADES toiling and working for.

Why? Because why repeat the work if you can steal it from someone else? Or at a minium, slow us down so they can catch up, and/or surpass us. It saves THEM (other countries) the time, resources, money and work. Then they turn around and invest the money they saved (saved from having to innovate, research, develop and test) straight into production, thus beating us at our own game.

It drags our economy down, it slows basic services, etc etc. It's effects are far reaching, in the most insidious way possible. I wish I could present the proof of it, but due to my position I cannot.

Believe it or not - that's ultimately your choice - but I'm here to tell you that it is real, and it should be taken seriously.

For the past 3 years we have seen an unprecedented ramp up of control from the government. From Manning and Snowden leaks to the NSA to now the war in Syria, all the pieces are put in place to take away your last freedom with a major cyber and terror attack. The internet. The web has woven its way into you homes via computers ,TV, tablets and smartphones. It has become an integral part of everything that we do and how the nation gets things done. So, what happens when it is gone?

Napolitano had a message to get out there... "The outgoing Homeland Security Secretary has a warning for her successor: A massive and “serious” cyber attack on the U.S. homeland is coming,"

If there is a major cyber attack will the US shut down the internet? It may, by stating it is for the good of all and that this is the major communication line for the factions that caused the incident. Whether they blame it on rogue groups, foreign interests or domestic terror, all they need is a reason and the collective will nod their heads and walk towards the showers. The US has made the collective dependant on them.

By now, we have all gotten the Amber Alerts on our phones. This is how we could be warned. But in the case of an attack on our infrastructure, our ability to communicate will only last as long as the bars on the battery of your phone. Once that is gone, where will you turn for information? Where will you get power from? The breakdown of society would be days not weeks and who comes in the save us? The DHS and FEMA.

The government. They will have control of everything at that point and you will be either with, or against. There have already been leaks from the DHS and DOD that if you are one with alternative views to the government you are a terrorist. They have been cataloguing us for the last 10 years since the last major attack, putting the pieces in place so that when 'it' happens, there is no turning back. The 'hacks' that are occurring to US site and the war we are entering are all indications that something is here and just over the horizon.

More tinfoil worry or is this another warning that something big is coming.

Excellent points, and I will simply add, watch the CEO's and Bankers. When they suddenly start stepping down and moving to South America etc you know the craps about to hit the fan.

Very true as well as the shipping and trucking industry. China had to move thousands of it's freighters our of the normal area because it was obvious that the shipping had shut down. People don't order things when they are going to lose everything. Stores don't stock the shelves when the good are no longer there or a crisis has hit and it's all gone.

I have to say it's pretty funny..but why all these disaster preparedness things..and emergency alerts being ramped up? Weird..but who knows..maybe they have geologist/engineers that know something about the sink hole in LA...maybe it's going to go and fema region 3 needs extra stuff for any survivors..that head that way..????

I think of them as Uncle Obama and Aunt Janet. They fit so well together...or have up to this point. Whatever will he do without her? She was among the only cabinet members that remained scandal free, all this time. Many came very very close to her...but nothing ever stuck enough to make nasty headlines.

Oh well... He'll live I guess. I know we'll all be better for the change.

Not to throw a wet blanket on the smoldering coals of conspiracy, but the ABC article seems to imply that the as yet unknown disaster may be the result of climate change. Nothing specific, just possibilities. Of course, climate change itself is the subject of suspicion for some and gospel for others. Logical enough for Ms. Napolitano to extrapolate on her beliefs and warn of impending consequences of human-caused climatological interruption. Let's not read anything into it that isn't there.

I also agree with most of what matafuchs said, but with the prevalence of smartphones and the ease and convenience of conducting commerce on the internet, I don't think they'd dare shut it down. It would upset too many people. Plus what would happen to their plan for "cloud services", where all of our data would be stored on servers that are easily and legally accessible by the government?

I think what will happen is that there will be a cyber-9/11 attack which will be used to pass a bill allowing unfettered access to all data on the internet.

It would be a lot easier for me to believe what you say if the government didn't keep making repressive laws against Americans every time a foreign demon pops it's head up.
