Not complaining, as I truly appreciate your time here...that said if you have time at any point I would greatly appreciate an answer to my query(assuming you can answer it).

Thank you for all the info.

errr do you apply that same logic then to the likes of Alex Jones, Jesse Ventura , Dylan Avery, David Ike, Richard Gage and any other number of prominent personalities with in conspiracy literature who all have done there TV appearances.

At least Nick Pope is real, he's not like some UFO nut who posts his YouTube channel, he is actually someone who knows his stuff.

The idea of a "Nick pope investigates show" is actually quite exciting i think

Hello Mr. Pope,

I'm always glad to see you on UFO programmes as a more open-minded counter-balance to the likes of Dr. David Clarke who seem more interested in dismissing/debunking these sort of incidents rather than looking at them objectively.

I'd like to know, what are your thoughts on the alleged Kalahari Desert incident of 1989? I know there's a generally held belief that it was a hoax due to the man behind it (can't remember his name, Sarth Afrikaan fellow) leaking documents that were forged (as he supposedly had to write it from memory) but investigators such as the late Tony Dodd thought there was something to it as he thought he had corroborated certain details of the case with other individuals 'in the know'. Did you ever meet Tony Dodd and are you familiar with his work? Finally!... what do you make of all the unusual animal 'mutilations' that occur in the U.K? Particularly in Shropshire and mid Wales? I think the Army could be behind some of it at least. Why? Because there's been a campaign by the animal rights group PETA against the MoD' to stop their practice of sending British Army medics to live animal shooting ranges. Which they deem is necessary to further experience and training in dealing with battle injuries and so forth.

Thank you for your time and I wish you all the best with your future endeavours.

P.S. I quite liked your Operation Thunderchild book

Hello and Thank you Sir for taking the time to answer some of our our questions. I've had so many over the last 26 years, but will ask only two.

My question is...Aprox. 16 years ago despite not having the absolute physical proof to in hand, I became 100% convinced that the subject was very real and then became rather annoyed by the secrecy which surrounds the whole subject of UFO'S.

At what point were you convinced that this was real phenomena and secondly what was the definitive proof that brought you to that conclusion?

Thank you again.

The whole Aurora controversy nearly caused a huge diplomatic row between the UK and the US. In response to various UFO sightings, we asked the US authorities whether they were testing 'Aurora' (or any prototype aircraft/drone) over the UK. We were told "no" and UK defense ministers gave assurances in Parliament on the basis of this answer. Then we got more sightings and asked something like "are you sure?", which prompted the then US SecDef to become incandescent with rage, as he took the question to mean that we doubted his word. The respective embassies had to smooth things over, as I recall.

Mr pope,

if i may,

another question,

Did your work on the UFO desk ever cover the topic of unidentified submerged objects (USO's) and if so could you please provide us with some details.

thanks!

I thought I should add another enigma since I noticed your reply as to what you found most interesting in anecdotes, like Stephenville for instance. Stephenville, represents either a cover-up, or a cock-up I'm sure. However the Cash-Landrum incident, is most surely a cover-up of the worst kind and is about about UFO's and official denials and disinformation, as against medical evidence that people were actually harmed. Even sceptics are out on this one.

In relation to the question about my involvement with video games such as "The Bureau: XCOM Declassified", what I'm doing is helping to start a conversation in the gaming community about UFOs. I'm asking questions such as "could any of this be true?" and "could governments cover this up - and if so, why and how?" - I often hear people bemoan the lack of young people actively involved in ufology, e.g. attending conferences. Yet there are millions of gamers out there, many of whom are young and many of whom are fascinated by UFOs, aliens, cover-ups and conspiracies. My work on "The Bureau" and on previous XCOM games such as "Enemy Unknown" might just bridge the gap between the UFO community and the gaming community.

Did any beraue in England or abroad reinforce the UFO myth in the hopes that civillians looking to spot an extraterrestial craft would by chance spot a manmade object that has evaded radar detection?

Thank you very much for gracing ATS and its membership with your presence and the opportunity to "Ask anything."
My two-part (A/B) question deals with this quote from your opening post:

In relation to the UFO phenomenon, I classify myself neither as a believer nor as a skeptic. Accordingly, I sometimes manage to upset ufologists in both camps. I certainly think that there are some compelling cases out there and clearly there's more to this than just weather balloons, swamp gas and fake videos on YouTube

Since you have had the opportunity to conduct:

1) First-hand reviews of key, sometimes classified, documents;
2) Direct interviews of the persons involved in unresolved cases; and,
3) Actual visits of the areas involved:

and this has led you to make a declaration, "... there's clearly something more...," then:

A) Other than the simple statement, "It remains an unexplained flying object," what other specific data revealed during the investigation(s) give rise to the declaration; and,
B) How can this statement not be construed as a definitive position of a believer, rather than, "neither a believer nor a skeptic?"

Thank you very much.

Hello Nick Pope, and Welcome to ATS.

Is there anything regarding your position with MoD as it applies to the UFO Phenomenon that you are still as of yet no allowed to discuss?
More appropriately, is there anything specifically UFO Phenomenon related you're barred from discussing until such time as information is declassified?

Granted, if you're not allowed to discuss it, then this would simply be a yes, or no answer, but, any elaboration you might contribute should 'Yes' be the answer, would be be greatly appreciated.

Greetings and welcome to ATS Mr. Pope. My questions have been addressed, but I just wanted to share some of our members work on multiple cases here in the past. ATS has changed a bit, but some of our veteran members have done superb and detailed jobs of investigations and sourcing in the past that you may enjoy or actually get something from.
The thread is ATS Veteran UfO Threads and Here is an anthology of sorts. Just thought you may want to give some a gander.

Thanks again,
spec

Look its not a matter wither or not they are here or not UFO this or that, what do "they" the many extraterrestrials want with earth, no nuclear, is that clear enough, it's our DNA that is gold through out the universe.

Just, here's my choice

Philip J. Corso - www.youtube.com...

Anonymous goes on the record. - www.youtube.com...

Eisenhower warns us of the military industrial complex. - www.youtube.com...

The last two links connect.

So my question, nick, do these whistleblowers hold any gravity?

Hello Mr.. Pope, Thank you sir for being kind enough to share your expertise with some greenhorns.

My thing is this,
In my life experience people who sneak around, act very secretive, and are unwilling to come forward and show themselves are considered to have ILL intentions.

With this often being the case with ufo's " Should we be concerned that they are also up to no good?"

Thank you

Xd

Thank you for your time.
