In your reply to a previous post you stated that you had never posted before on ATS or similar sites or forums.

Are you aware of government employees deliberately posting on sites like ATS etc and spreading deliberate miss-information for one reason or another?
I recognise it's probably impossible to answer this with certainty but given your experiences of working with government agencies do you think it's likely that this happens?

I'd like to thank Nick for responding to my invitation to join us here at ATS and his generosity with his time today and tomorrow. I'd also like to than the members of ATS for asking such great questions.

Now that I've got that out of the way, I'd like to ask Nick if he remembers being briefed about anything to do with the old Soviet Union's interest in UFOs?

I've been told there was communication between the U.S. and the Soviets regarding the phenomena (mostly so neither one would mistake a UFO for an incoming ICBM and launch their own in retaliation) so I would surmise there would have been communications between The U.K. and the Soviet regime.

Is that correct? If so, can you share any details of what they discussed?

My question to you is this; What is your professional opinion of the validity, substance, and accuracy of television shows that mainly discuss/investigate UFO phenomena? I would love to hear what you think of programs like this, of course no one has to bring up any one of them up specifically for fairness.

I'm not a believer in any of the exotic theories about crop circles, I'm afraid, and think believers consistently underestimate the skill and dedication of those people who make formations, often operating in well-organized teams, and using GPS, NVG, etc.

Thank you Mr. Pope for being here,i have watched many of your shows,i don't know if this was asked but i was wondering if you heard of the Cash, Landrum case and what are your theories about what happened to the people that showed signs of radiation contact.Why would the government are whoever deny that something real happened if it is a threat to human life and our airspace

Does the united kingdom consider UFOs to be a threat to their national security?

More importantly Since they are unidentified how can any country even make that decision without knowing what they are?

What a fantastic opportunity it is to ask you a question. I really respect your viewpoints and recognize you as being one of ufology's greatest speakers.

My question is this:

Do you think that there is enough evidence now, and enough public awareness as well, that big science will step on board and demand some answers? By "Big Science" , I mean the likes of Steven Hawking, Michio Kaku, Alan Guth....?

I think that all they would have to do, is just show up at one of the Disclosure sessions and just say "Hi, It is due time that the world should be told the truth." That is about all they would need to say, in my opinion. These are some of the greatest minds on the planet, and I just know they possess a great deal of knowledge , but also respect that the world must be ready for it, and that the governments must begin the dialog.

I wonder if you agree that this could possibly happen. It just feels close.

While the mindset was "more likely Russian than Martian", we didn't entirely rule out more exotic possibilities. Hence, I looked at alien abductions and crop circles, in view of the link (perceived or otherwise) between them and the UFO phenomenon.

Hi Nick and welcome.
I'm not a Moon landings sceptic in any way, but it is known that NASA, or their agents did alter/modify Moon landing pictures to some degree or another with whatever tools they had available at any given time, and apart from any collage type picture that might appear in a book say.
Does that give you any lingering doubts as to the motives for doing that, or would you be satisfied that the alterations were simply cosmetic.

I don't think the various UFO and alien shows/imagery put out on CBBC and elsewhere (and I speak as someone who's discussed this subject on shows such as Blue Peter and Newsround) constitute propaganda, disinformation, or part of some acclimatization program aimed at children. I think it simply reflects the fact that kids are fascinated by aliens!

Why do you use the spelling, Department of Defense, when in the UK we don't have a Department of Defense, it's a Depart of Defence. It doesn't matter if you are using an American English keyboard, or an American version of Windows, the spelling is Defence! You are as English as they come, therefore, can you explain why you use the American form.

I did ask this question way back when you did that radio show here on ATS but never heard the answer to that?

But You worked under the British Government Ministry of Defense , investigating UFO's. On November 2006, you resigned from the post at the MOD, saying the government's "X-Files have been closed down. Do you really think it has been closed down or maybe revived under another name , And if so who do you think is working on that? 

And do you think that governments are doing everything to keep the evidence away from the public on secondary means like invest in better graphical software for the public to create false videos and images so that real sightings can be debunked for its authentic content?

Thank for joining ATS and I hope that you sometimes jump in a dicussion here when we seek for answers when members think or present video evidence on the UFO subjects. That would be really a great asset to our discussions...

Do you have a 'favorite' case of an alleged alien abduction?

I know you mostly comment from the point of view or capacity, of when you were a civil servant, but I was wondering if you have speculative opinions of your own based on every thing you have been privy to whether or not we are being visited?

If so to what extent is the relationship cultivated with the 3 letter agencies and or world governments, o everyday humans, and perhaps what "Their" motivations are being here?

Any patterns of truth that have emerged based on your experience with the phenomenon?

I don't think I'd better go into any details about ROE, but any decision to launch QRA aircraft would be made on the basis of the circumstances at the time. Here's a nice media article that gives some useful pointers on how the system works:
