There might already be Spetsnaz troops on the ground in Syria, hunting for our Special Forces troops who could be there searching for targets. The US could be in a shooting war with Russia and we won't have any idea.

I have seen photos of the Russian Navy rusting away in ports due to no funding. Pretty sad state of affairs. I would like to know what Russia's Naval capabilities are in the MED and how close they are to US forces.

Russia? On modernizing their forces, and training. They have a new class of ballistic missile submarine entering service, the Su-35 entering service, and the T-50 stealth fighter in development. As well as starting long range patrols again, developing new missiles for their sub, etc.

The last I heard a Udaloy destroyer, a cruiser or two, two combat tugs and a tanker. I'm not sure where they are in relation to US forces right now though.

Probably within a week or so tops. You aren't going to see them send one into the region and have it sit for two or three weeks. Once they're in place generally things are pretty close to kicking off..

I know this is a bad situation, but I'm really learning a lot here. So this does mean they will be bypassing the UN... Troublesome to say the least.

An operation this big; without the approval of the UN is unprecedented.

We can point at the US all we like, but the british are committed, the french and the canadians. This is why it seems odd to single out the US on this, everyone wants to hit Syria.
After this it belongs to the dead.
At this point i want to know what it is they found, because it got them pissed off quick and it has left them on hold.

They may wait until this weekend to see what the UN does, or early in the week. But once the E-4 or E-6 are in place, you usually don't wait long one way or the other. They're too valuable to have sitting around for too long (especially since we only have a very small number of E-4s).

Not everyone is interested in attacking Syria. Russia and China will veto any vote in the UN for military intervention. Until there's absolute proof that the Assad Regime is behind this attack, a military strike will not be approved.

Russia made sure to send Assad a big batch of missiles and food before the show really started, and i tend to believe the report that he left the country and is hiding out in Tehran. I think that country is going to get leveled by at least four of the worlds strongest military powers because of a chemical weapons attack. Ultimately i see two countries that would happily support the advancement of chemical weapons in a country like Syria if only for it's own advances holding while all the evidence of testing is cleared and all the real answers are buried or blurred enough for us to fudge and fight over.

Erase the right file, kill the right guy, no one ever knows the real truth.

Regardless it only seems logical to me that at least part of what is going on in Syria is in due to a chemical weapons attack mostly likely from its own government. They had the most stuff, and i don't doubt they have a few other ideas as well tucked away in all those storehouses. Who knows what payment info is stored on a laptop in some quiet Syrian Biotechnology clinic, some secret chemical factory.

They make the next big thing, get caught testing it, and now the world is on the tips of its toes watching to see how much of Syria will burn. In a way it is almost backward to constantly blame America for it, for one it would it would just burn us to ashes and two, Russia would love that in it's heart of hearts.

Field studies i think we call them.

Ahh but we don't need the UN to make a case to strike. You forget about the Arab League. They could potentially give the US the permission it needs to attack.

On another note, the only thing that has taken off out of whiteman is a T-38. A B-2 landed about an hour ago, but none have taken off.

With all the noise thats been made i think they still sort of do. It leaves you just enough time to wonder what will happen next, what weapon was used, who is holding the power.

But in the end you must wait and remember, they are just zombies.

A B-2 launched a little bit ago out of Whiteman, but it could be a training mission. No telling what its doing. However there's about ten of us out here watching. Pretty fun!

He has probably moved his family to Tehran because if he's dead he can't give orders/run the country. Or he is just getting his family tucked away in a safe spot. Speculation but tells me he knows its coming soon. The thing is, I'm sure he has bomb shelters - probably state of the art so why the need. Maybe he remembers Saddam, pulled out of a little hole in the ground.

I am confused about one thing, who is that big plane waiting for exactly?
I mean, isn't that sort of reserved for the President?

Yes and no. The primary mission of the E-4 is to get the President out of situations and allow him to launch follow on strikes from the air. But it's also used as a command and control aircraft, similar to how the EC-135 was used, and how the E-6B Mercury is used. Usually the E-4 is considered to be more for a situation where things may go nuclear, that's why it's weird to see it in the area.

So who is in Turkey right now that is worth that kind of ride...
I mean isn't the whole thing going to be airstrikes anyway....so if they are holding this long it stands to reason that plane is there specifically at this time to pick someone up...so who and from where?
