Personally, I find it rather vain and perhaps a little narcissistic that you've decided to use your picture for an avatar. Sure, you're quite
fetching and everything, but one has to wonder about the attention-seeking aspect of what you've chosen; if you were super homely looking, I doubt
you'd use your picture as an avatar. So basically you're just saying, "Hey ATS, look at me! Look at how beautiful I am!", which is fine, nothing
wrong with being proud of who you are. It just seems, like I said, a bit vain. Perhaps I'd be more understanding if this were match.com or something,
but it's not.
I mean, I'm quite handsome myself (you'll just have to take my word for it ;-), but I've never really felt the need to flaunt my looks on the
interwebs, especially not on ATS, which is geared towards (though I sometimes wonder) intellectual discussion, and I'd hate to think my avatar was
drawing away from that. Of course, I suppose one could make the argument that my screen name is the absolute height of narcissistic egotism, and then
they'd say something about glass-houses and rock throwing, at which point I'd have no choice but to tacitly agree with that argument and realize I
was probably being unnecessarily petty and hypocritically didactic.
In any case, from what little I've read of your posts, you seem to be pretty level-headed, thoughtful and kind, which I've found to be somewhat rare
in very attractive women, as they often choose to coast on looks alone and don't take the time to develop interesting personalities, so kudos on
that. Actually, looking back on what I wrote, I suppose one could think of this whole post as a somewhat long-winded but indirect compliment, which
definitely wasn't my intention when I started this... Damn your feminine wiles!
