S-h-i-t or get off the pot buddy!

This si the kind of response you usually got from americans in the 70's who wanted to shoot all the "hippies and communists" only now it's more like "shoot all the hippies, terrorists, suspected terrorists and people who don't like us".

I was asking those questions to all of the Americans here.
I believe that the US is one of the most divided nations on the planet. Sure, you rally around the Flag and call it unity but once the fighting stops outside your borders, you begin fighting each other inside again.

If you truly were a "United States", you would easily be able to rule or influence the world for the better. Unity would create a power beyond belief. People everywhere would take you in and accept you.

As I stated before, unity doesn't begin and end with your government. It starts with YOU - The People.

The sooner you damn Colonials realise that fact - the better!!!

Hellequin: "How did the U.S. save Britain?" You ask...

Ok..someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I just did a term paper and passed with flying colors on it

Anyways...

"The Battle of Britain"

This battle took place when almost all Allied forces, excluding the Brits, were destroyed. The only thing remaining between ol' Adolf and control of Europe was a failing Britain. All Hitler needed to do was conquer Britain, and the Nazis had the upper hand in military strength. Britain did fight off the Nazis and won the Battle of Britain. A setback for the Nazis, but not terribly devastating. By this time, the only nation that was left to fight Germany was the Brits. I do not know where you came up with "Britain and it's allies". All of their allies were dead by then. It was Germany, Italy, Japan, and the rest of the Axis controlled nations vs a lone Britain. After the Battle of Britain, the U.S. came into the war, after being bombed by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor (December 7th, 1941). The U.S. and Britain, along with smaller countries still fighting for survival, fought against the Axis. Without the U.S. in WW2, im afraid your incorrect about the war being won by Britain. The Nazi Party would have destroyed Britain on the ground, and most likely in the air, too.

Thanks for listening,

-Mac

Indeed, another thing. A lot of countries are ungrateful for the help the U.S. has provided them. For example:

1) South Vietnam
2) South Korea
3) Iraq
4) The small countries in Europe such as Poland during World War Two
5) Britain during World War Two
6) Russia during World War Two (Ironicly we ending up fighting with them after :dn

Does that not say America has helped a lot of countries over the years? I also dislike the fact that everyone hates the U.S.A. Think about it what could be better than watching some baseball, eating some hot dogs, drinking some beer, and kicking some terrorist ass!

Leveller, about unity.

It is the disunity of the USA that makes her Great, she will never come under one rule (you especially should understand that significance due to your involvement in certain...things), she will never have one mind, one goal.

Because of this dictatorships (unified fortresses of stupidity), will always be easily targetable by us, while we, able to make blundering errors sometimes, will always straiten out in the end.

We are the surviving embodiment of Pericles's or rather Thucydides's re-write of whatever Pericle's did say, the Funeral Oration.

On Sparta vs. Athens.

And right they were, too bad they were so destined to fail, struck with plagues, mob rule, and military blunders. As well as a thin list of allies.

But their defeate is for us to learn by.

We must be cautious to not alienate allies by exerting force over them, as the Athenians tried to do, which unsuccessfully blew-up in their faces.

But luckly we are not doing that...rather the allies are purposefully retracting from us for their lusts of power.

Do you think France has any honorable intentions? Nay, they only want power, so does everyone else who was against our move into Iraq.

Don't believe me? Just look at what they all share.

Massive business deals, ownerships, and companies and property of China with in their borders.

Quote:You know, what you say might very well be right, the world may need a superpower to police it, but why us?
Why couldn't we have our government as it should be and be a nation like, say, New Zealand? You never hear of them getting into scraps and being cussed out. When it is the righteous thing to do and they are asked, they'll assist the good guys, but after that they remain cool. "

Giday, im glad that there are people out there from eurpoe or usa that know where nz is. Im from New zealand, and ok we dont get into scraps or anything. But the leaders of my country all have moral problems like having 3 partners and cheating on other people.
They say that if you make mistakes on the little things what does it tell you about the big things? Well bush seems to have his life morally sorted, thus making him trust worthy, but remember we are all human and no one is perfect.
I would much rather the USA be the super power of the world than north-korea!!! If little old new zealand were in trouble usa would be here within minutes helping us. In ww2 when the anzacs went to go 2 help brition in europe, we were so keen to help that we had no amry left in nz. But who saved our butts? The americans! (in the phillipians, as the japs were creeping closer to aussie and nz)Thanks guys im glad our country doesnt speak japanese.
Do u know we dont even have a navy or an airforce? Did u know that its our policy to hid in the hills if we are under attack? But we are peaceful. And i love new zealand, it is beautiful and the people are great. But all us other countrys seem to hate america.
Wasnt it the same with the roman empire when every other place wanted to bring them down, and when it finally came, the world went into the dark ages.... is this what we want?, another dark age???

"We are the great equalizer, without us there would be NO freedom to speak of, why do people argue that point?"
Why is the USA never given any credit for the 60+ years of peace in Europe. Does anyone believe that without thousands of Americans sitting in NATO bases through out Europe there would be peace for this long. Can anyone tell me when Europe was without war for 60+ years in the last 1000 years or more. You people kill eachother at soccer games. It's easy to be europe right now because the USA keeps you from eachothers throats. Left on your own we would be looking at WW V.

The article was written by a women, Margaret Drabble, first off and it's simply opinion based upon the lucid observation of a war intoxicated administration and political consciouses. There should be no reason to call her an arm-chair whatever while we all sit here ourselves behind the screens; that's just ignorant. It was an obvious frank piece driven from years of investment into the lies spurned and bloody spilled by American wars across the globe. Who can blame the women for realizing that no peace can come from this country?

This American dream is nothing but Hollywood nonsense. This impunity Americans should feel due to their service in the World Wars is nonsense so stop beating it's drum anytime criticism flies your way. America is not the only country in the world where one enjoys liberties and freedoms and America is certainly apart of this global civilization, not the other way around.

What a joke..

Oh no those evil americas paint faces on their planes....
I guess if the author had to choose between playfully decorated warlanes and a dictatorship he'd choose the later.

The author is clearly upset at their life and joining the flock.

Talk about a thread coming back from the grave, this one was started over four years ago.

I look forward to seeing if it actually catches on again, Though ATS now has a political forum and this might fit better over there.

I'll just have to see where it goes, if it goes.

Ahhh, why not.

Hey, since my inflatable raft has a big old hole in it, I'm staying.

I'm also staying because i took an oath to love this country, a country which has done so much for me and my family. This is my country now (My country 'tis of me) and i will die an American. I do not like this Present GOVERNMENT. However, i do love America and if all goes to plan,
we will have a new president real soon who may just know how to turn this mess around- and make us what we were meant to be. Proud Americans.
There's nothing better.

I'm gald to see that most differentiate a hate of the US Govt and a hate of the people here. We Americans want the same thing everyone else wants, to be prosperous and just live our lives as we see fit. I cant say I like where our military is or how its being used, it should be used to help those who cant help themselves dont get me wrong. We should of been in places like Darfur or Somalia keeping these people from killing each other and protecting those victim to that violence.

Yes, or We Americans want the same thing everyone else wants: oil. I ain't gonna sit by passiveley as hippies stroll down the presidential walk way tot he whitehouse to discuss surrendering negotiations with the nonexistant iraqi resistance. People in Sweden, Finland, Germany, Japan, South Korea and numerous other "we're so cool because we have "technology" and dont start wars" can act the way they do because it is we, THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, start the wars and fight while these fondu dipping Europeans kick back and bitch about "the illegal war".

So what do we Americans get out of this? Women with bigger titties, V8 trucks and baseball.

Wher's the news, where the information? An opinion of someone who is safer because someone else steps up to the plate.

Americans are not safer for the expeditions in Iraq and Afghanistan as neither countries, or anyone they harboured, posed any significant threat to US strategic security. American military personal steps up to the plate because it pays relatively well and very well when compared to what they might have been forced to do for a income. The good propaganda, militarised culture and lying president certainly helps to misdirect those very few who actually want to serve their nation and protect it from foreign enemies.

A Brit who could care less if the rest of America is blown apart.

Anyone who does not care about tens or hundreds of millions of dead Americans is certainly not worth listening to but i'm pretty sure the author cares.

The person might as well have been another ignorant American who's mindset is "Protect me, oh government, but do it by firing posies, honeysuckles and rose pettles at those who want to rip my guts out!"

But who really wants to rip the average Americans guts out and for what reasons? Why does the US military have such a long history of attacking nations that posed absolutely no threat to US continental security while supporting or aiding those who could actually destroy the American way of life?

About as useful an article as anything written by Norman Mailer.

Pretty much right on the money as far as i am concerned even if i would never have contaminated the horrible truth with so much emotion. Passion seems to be something reserved for the people wielding the guns and bombs as we all know that the savages being bombed in Iraq ( American bomb fragments can tell the innocent from the guilty; of self defense) are driven by far more primal motivations and deserve to be slaughtered with passion and weapons named after the original North-Americans that Americans slaughtered with so much gusto in earlier times. I wonder what would happen if the Germans started giving their newest tanks and aircraft Semitic names?

So lets keep emotion and passion out of reporting the truth as it's just 'logical' that such must invalidate the factual content when it's got nothing positive to say about the ambition of American leaders or Americans themselves.

First off "Daisey Cutter" isn't a weapon of mass destruction, it pains me to see the author of this article to be so stupid.

It's certainly more of a weapon of "mass destruction" than Iraq had so lets not start calling anyone stupid just yet. In a age where reality is what the news media decides it is fuel air explosives can most certainly be made to fit the WOMD bill.

Furthermore TC is right, this idiot sits safely in his chair wherever, tapping away at the keyboard, not having to dodge the Gestapo...

As if you had to? What the #$%$#%$ does this have to do with him/her exercising their right to free speech? What the hell are 'we' fighting for if not to protect the ignorant opinions of people such as yourself?

and just because he doesn't need to be liberated by us, he gets pissed that we liberate someone else.

Freedom exist despite the recent ( since at least Wilson's time) best efforts of American policy makers and they have destroyed far more freedom than most any other government.

If he were in Iraq he'd be cheering too.

Probably not as the bombs rains down from American aircraft...

Some day, the world will burn and a few will remember the echos of America, until a time,

Like Rome?

far beyond our great great great grandchildren's time, where to the common masses all freedom and hope has been lost, that echo will shake the foundations of the world.

The freedom the American empire has been destroying for nearly a century? Freedom exist despite their best efforts and they are not done trying just yet.

I'm going to add that to my sig actually, that is the most awesome thing I have said in a while.

Just don't break your arm while attempting to part yourself on the back ...

Damn people will quote me one day that's for sure.

Quite unlikely but then i don't profess to know the future like some seem to.

Think long and hard Cold...

Thinking? Are you sure you are ready to consider doing that?

people will forget you because your feelings are helping to bring about the greatest darkness, this world will ever know.

So now the opinions of average people will bring about a new 'dark age'?

It is no longer a day of chivalry,

Chivalry is moronic as it assumes that both sides have fair reasons for wanting to risk life and limb which is hardly ever the case. I fight and it wont be fair as war is not sport and war is not about managing a 'decent' second. If the fight you are engaging in is not one you feel comfortable winning by the most unfair means possible your very probably fighting against liberty and justice in general.

technology, makes us invariable slaves. And only the American ideal is what saves us all...from that slavery.

Technology should in fact liberate us as technology enables the more efficient application of energy; if technology is enslaving people it's because it's a deliberate and well designed plot to do so.
