My eyes are filling as I read these posts. How can anyone be so inhumane? I feel so angry about this, it goes against what makes us human. Please, is there a charity that I can donate to,in order to help these poor souls?

You can't feed a hungry man because we don't want him to eat unapproved food.

People who save enough to provide for themselves in case of a disaster are considered hoarders and that will be a crime under emergency conditions.

Millionaires and billionaires with an empty pantry that eat every meal in a fancy restaurant get to make these decisions.

Somebody wake me up.
I'm having a really bad dream.

Connect these dots, within the emerging anti-homeless agenda.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg bans food donations to the homeless ...

Miami, Florida, City Commissioner Marc Sarnoff is considering making being homeless illegal ...
source : news.smashpipe.com...

Sarasota, Florida, named meanest city for homeless ...

Do you recognize a pattern?

No one knows what those "food" donations contain. For all we know they could contain poison, or some virus. There are plenty of homeless shelters where these people can get in line and get a hot meal.

This mob mentality on ATS is disturbing. Yeah let's go out with pitch forks and torches and lynch this man because he wants to make sure the homeless receive a meal that contains the necessary nutrients and is not packed full of fat and salt.

Now that's real TEA Party Conservatism right there.

Saving taxpayer money by eliminating donations to the poor.

Now, if they just shut down any shelters these downtrodden people have, they will either freeze to death, or leave NY, saving the taxpayer even more money.

I'm surprised the TEA Partiers in this thread aren't singing Bloomberg's praises and trying to make him their next tribal warlord.

Sure, the ill informed will see this as government intervention and control over people's lives. but the true conservative TEA Party patriot will know that saving taxpayer money is worth a few American lives. Especially if they are lazy bums who just suckle off the government teet.

Perhaps the 27 Billion dollar man (his personal net worth, last I saw a total) ought to donate a few bucks out of his own nation-size checking accounts, if the homeless cannot be "harmed" with perfectly edible food stuffs he/they deem to have poor nutritional content.

BTW... How does that work for the rat meat the homeless go chow down on when the Shelter has nothing to offer from bare shelves? I suppose the alternative just "isn't their problem".

Bloomberg would so hate Marie Antoinette but he doesn't realize that he's making himself seem so far worse. I absolutely agree with you that his billions have basically put him at such a distance from the homeless that he is absolutely blind to what is actually occurring. Comparison I would use is that what Bloomberg suffers from is akin to sitting atop a penthouse and trying to look down at the ground to see what's going on with the ants on the sidewalk. I don't know what gives me more of a paralyzing fear: the fact that the people of NYC voted him into office, ergo expressing admiration for his policies/views (and god forbid, may chose to emulate them...) or that this is what occurs when money wins an election. Someone so distant from the "little people" that he risks destroying them. Neither he or Marie Antoinette, in her famous purported words, had any kind of awareness that the issue for the lowest of classes is/was the need for food.

Portland, OR:
www.oregonlive.com...-rpt-2
www.kgw.com...

Except Portland just calls them "campers" and apparently has a baby in a stroller "camping" on the streets before City Hall that has to move because the sidewalks need to be cleaned (in first article). Second article acts as an indicator as to how Portland's homeless before City Hall evolved from being "homeless" to "campers". I find it kind of ridiculous to use the term that way because most people camp for vacation--not because they are homeless. Very muddling in perceptions of what is occurring there to use that term.

Why would the people of NYC vote for him? Soda, guns, smoking, stairs, and now feeding the homeless. Liberal Logic 101, take over peoples lives.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

I'm laughing because just before I read this I was about to DEMAND that our ATS members in NYC pick up a pitchfork and a torch and go find this little piece of feces and string him up high. And leave him there for the rest of the country to see.

If you are ok with the policies that the elitist bloomburg(I refuse to capitalize his name, as that shows a form of respect, and I couldn't give one crap if its spelled right or not. fyi) slams down New Yorkers throats, you simply are not human.

So you are for the homeless dying?

You are for bigger government intervention into actual charitable efforts?

Progressive politics in action, right here. This is also the future of Obamacare.

Of course I'm not ok with this. But I'm not a "TEA Party Patriot". I just figured that they would love this kind of thing. It sounds right up their alley.

To me this is not only heartless, but disgusting. When I was on the street, any meal I could get was very welcome. Yea it had a lot of salt in it, but as they say, beggars can't be choosers.

Maybe it's one of those jokes that run wild at the end ?
We heckle and sooner or later become part of the joke.
Dark humor I guess.

the mayor is not a mommy, and can't tell adults what they can eat. I guess freedom and liberty are only for people that can afford it.....you don't think homeless people have bigger concerns than checking to see if their food is poisoned? and is this even a problem?.....you can't manufacture a solution when there isn't a problem... believe it or not, there are millions of people that think he is an ***hole.....this guy is acting a like Russian tsar, and thinks NY city is his own dictatorship. republicans are turning into NANNYS, telling people what to eat, what women can do with their own bodies, who people can marry, who is poor enough to be helped by government, what medical care they can recieve, if any at all.

how is this guy still in office? Id love to see if he actually gets reelected. If so, there definitely is no hope for New York City ever again.

Bloomberg is setting the new standard for government control and intervention into every aspect of our lives. The giant government control freaks in DC must love this guy.

As surprising as it may be to most people outside the conceptual domed-environment that NYC has created for itself over the decades, most New Yorkers do indeed support this guy (Bloomberg).

So long as that dome stays intact... they can have him.

Lock the sob in a room and starve him while homeless people eat big juicy cheeseburgers right in front of him, with big 44oz sodies that are bigger than the human stomach. And when he asks for a bite, just say "Are you insane?? This food has not been personally inspected by an agent of the FDA. And by the time we process the paperwork and it actually gets done, the food will have gone bad. Gosh, sorry bout that... Dontcha just hate bureaucratic red tape? Oh well you'll figure something out."

Then release a rat into the room XD

Seriously, what we need is a team of elite soldiers working for the people. These soldiers would be responsible for apprehending individuals that abuse their positions (government, banking, slum lords...) in ways that go against American ideals - ideals that aren't written down, but are generally accepted as right and true. These offenders would be incarcerated at secret locations until their time in office has expired, or until certain wrongs have been righted.

For this topic, the idea of denying any kind of food to the homeless is just pure evil. And there are times when we just can't wait for someone's term of office to end in order to vote him out. This bloomberg needs to be arrested by "The People".

You got some serious balls coming in here to defend this man. "I'm taking food out if your mouth, but I am helping you." Are you serious???

Where and how are they supposed to eat if its illegal to donate food to a homeless shelter, answer me that? Should they panhandle and use the money for a double cheeseburger meal at McDonalds? Or should that be illegal too? Should they be required to buy the expensive organic gluten free no msg rich people crap?

So where are they supposed to eat and how?

Food banks give you milk on the expiration date and old bread, and by the way, they require a piece of mail showing you have an address, and you need ID. It's meant for needy families, not homeless people.

So if its illegal to donate to a homeless shelter (im pretty sure I hwvent heard of any cases of viruses or poisons in the several decades that people have been donating to shelters...) then where and by what means are they supposed to eat??

I tried to find if this was something new rather than over a year ago. March of 2012.

newyork.cbslocal.com...

And one of the threads here on ATS. I believe there are more tho. Can't remember but I may have even done one.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Not doing the "Already Posted" thing but rather asking if something has changed so that it's even coming up on a few other sites as new?

Peace
